So sick of this stupid internet connection and stupid non-working appliances and stupid stupidness.

So incredibly frustrating, trying to get **** done and the internet keeps going in and out. One more month and then I will have REAL internet instead of the USB internet connection I currently have. Hopefully then I can actually see everything that is on the internet and be able to download the things I need to download for school without being yelled at about going over my, "fair use policy". Stupid fair use policy. I need to download this **** for school, I don't care if it is more data than what the "normal, average user" goes through in a month, let me do what I need to do. 😡

Ok, rant over. Going to find a printer cable which is another rant in itself.

Bad news: She was in a kill pen at New Holland and on her way to Canada.
Good news: Someone saved her.
Better news: I FOUND HER!!!!
Best news: She might be coming back home to live out her days with me!

Fngers crossed it all works out, but at this point, knowing she is alive and ok is the most important thing to me. Thanks again for all the good vibes.

Went to donate blood. I donate red cells and an extra unit of plasma, so I need an apherisis machine. Halfway into donation, machine has a brain fart and stalls. Now I haven't successfully donated or helped anyone, and I'm still deferred 8weeks.

Argh. The old machines never did this, only these stupid computerized new ones.

I went to donate blood once in high school. They had an event at the school and if you were under 18 you could still donate as long as your parents had signed off that it was ok. So all of my friends and I were going to do it. All of us were quite nervous about it so the nurse did all the pre-screening things and the after she has finished everything she tells me that I can not donate because my heart rate was 105 bpm and it has to be under 100. I told her, ok I am just nervous give me a few minutes and I will be fine and she said no, I can't let you donate. I was kind of sad because all of my friends got to continue on and I had to go back to class.
 
I've been donating since High school, my mom was a nurse phlebotomist at the time.

This was my 4 gallon donation (total) since moving to CA. I've only had machines fail twice in 6 years but both were these new machines.

At least my vitals were good- 102/65 and 58 bpm
 
Must resist the urge to post about unemployment.

Had a look at the job bank last night. The bustling city that I can join my boyfriend are looking for... cleaners, kitchen staff at Wendy's and a ton of part-timers to do variations of that. Largest city in the province and they had ONE posting for a lab tech job and a bunch of the crappiest other jobs. We pay the highest tuition in the country and the only way you have a shot at a job is if you do community college, nursing, business or professional degree.

I'll start applying for those crappy positions tomorrow. Won't work in fast food though.

I'll stay away from this forum for now. Just being $60 000 in debt, worrying about my family's debt and having student loan payments and no health care coming my way in October is giving me anxiety.
 
ugh. I'm really scared I'm going to absolutely hate the lab I'm working in, which sucks cause the research is exactly what I want to do. My PI is so far completely unhelpful. The grad students have done a good job teaching me some basics of the lab, but now that I've learned that I need to start doing some stuff on my own. Which is fine, except the project the PI wants me to do is in an area he knows nothing about, aside from that it's stem cell related. I'm brand new to doing tissue culture and am trying to write up a protocol for something that no one I work with has any clue about. I've read a ton of the literature and am starting to put it together, but there's some variables that I guess I'm just going to have to guess on the first few times. On top of that, I think I'm going to be expected to be in the lab 40+ hours a week (even though I'm taking classes too). Oh and our lab group meetings are on Fridays at 2 and famously last until 6 or later.
 
Ordered a bunch of books. Paid $12 in shipping.
Effing seller shipped them to my BILLING address instead of shipping address. So now I need to pay, again, to have these books sent across the country. I have the confirmation email from them that shows all the correct address information, with the correct address listed under shipping. And yet, the box is sitting in NY. And of course, no answer at the customer service line. I want that shipping charge back

I feel like in the past year since moving to Dublin he has just gotten even older and things stress him out so much more now - his brain cannot deal like it would have in the past most likely due to a brain tumor. He is so much more ataxic then he was and falls down a lot more. He sleeps a lot more, but still likes going out for short walks. He is having a lot more senile moments... where I wonder where my dog went. He lives for food... loves it. And for me. He is the definition of an old man.

Wanted to go on holiday this summer somewhere, but needed to include him in the trip. Decided to head to Galway this past Sunday for a few days to check it out. He travels well... slept in my lap the entire train ride. Did fine at the B&B. Sunday we wandered around the beachside town of Salthill and walked the coast.... we took a few breaks as he tires on walks, but made it back. He tore up the top of his toes a bit from stumbling. He was doing fine napping at the B&B for a better part of the evening and then come bedtime he decided it best to pace all night long. He would not settle. He kept me up all night pacing and nothing I offered him would ease his mind.

Same thing happened on Monday night after a full day of walking around Galway city centre.... up again all night pacing. It's like the stress of staying in a new place was too much on his brain, so he could not settle.

So this morning I decided best to head home... we cut the trip short.

I just feel like every time I look at him I realize how old he is getting and know that I don't have much time left. He should live much longer, but I fear with all of his illnesses he won't. He has gone downhill so much in one year... it breaks my damn heart. 🙁

HATE when a number I don't know calls, but does not leave a message. If you want to talk to me, leave me a message!!! Sometimes, my phone shows the number as 'Unknown' and if I can't answer it and you don't leave me a message, I can't get back to you. 😡

I don't either. There are too many crazy people in my family/friends' lives that I do NOT want my number confirmed by answering random calls. Even if they are from the local area. 🙄 I figure, if it's important, they should leave a message!

I just really hate the actual important ones that DON"T leave a message. And when I ask them about something, they say 'well, I called you, I was waiting for you to call me back'. Uhhhh, can't call you back if you leave no message with your number and my phone shows no record of number. :slap:

(this is why I ALWAYS leave my number when calling people that are not close friends)

Some of those are marketing, some are wrong numbers.
 
neighbor who is mid 60s lost her husband suddenly back a couple of months ago. her kids are grown, she has one 13 yr old cat. cat has been ADR the last few days, took it in yesterday, they did blood work, and left a message today saying the cat was in severe renal failure (but she can't talk to him until tomorrow because he's out of the office). needless to say, she's freaking out. this cat was her husband's cat that has now taken to really liking her. i of course want her to go see an internist (hoping finances aren't too big an issue), but it just stinks! why her? 🙁 i feel terrible for her and her cat 🙁
 
My younger dog had another seizure today. No worse than usual, but it seems more disturbing dealing with it alone, and the cat is complaining and wants her food, and the other dog is barking at the dogs passing by.

I was better off when I was bored earlier.

You feeling homesick too? It is amazing how home is not really a physical location at all, it is emotional. I could be in a box and wouldn't give a rat's ass as long as the people I care about are there.

Aw, devyn....I'm sorry:cry: My family went through this in March with our elderly bloodhound and in October before that with an old rescue girl. Before her, I lost my old man rescue kitteh (I took his loss very hard...and I still miss him).

Cherish every minute that you can. I wish you the best.
 
Alright.

I just realized that I have been mixing up my civic address on resumes. I am living at a temporary address with no mail box. Whenever I am asked to give an address, I give the boyfriend's or my parents.

On one application, I put my correct address on my resume (646 Main Street) and the incorrect one at the bottom of the cover letter and email (464 Main Street... see how I goofed up?)

Two of my other resumes and emails have 464 Main Street. Not as bad as mixing the two up in one application.

I checked and double checked my resumes. I got the boyfriend to read my cover letters. And I didn't catch on. :bang:

The other night, I punched the wrong address into Google maps to get directions to the closest walk-in clinic. No wonder the map didn't make any sense!

I was working on a resume a moment ago... and then a lightbulb went off in my head... and I checked... and my address is indeed 646 Main Street.

It's bad enough that MS word defaulted my margins to something weird and I sent one resume before realizing what was going on.

I am praying that nobody notices a teeny tiny change in address. I barely noticed it. Then again, I had to shred old resumes at the vet clinic one day. The vet circled every spelling and grammar mistake on the resume. Mixing up my civic address isn't as bad as a spelling/grammar error... or is it?

🙁 Sorry you're missing your family...I know how that feels all too well.

I find that it helps to just talk to someone about anything and it helps to ease things a bit.
 
i dont wanna leave tomorrow 🙁 i dont want to leave my piggie (shes getting be an older girl, i feel soooo guilty leaving her, and she is the love of my life), i dont want to leave my family, i dont want to leave this easy 3 month vacation from school i've had, i dont want to go back to the stress of school, i dont want to go back to the politics and drama, i dont want to cry so much over leaving!!! boo 🙁 i know once i'm there it'll all be fine, but it sure stinks to have to say good bye and do the whole leaving process

Thanks guys.... don't mean to be a downer.... just wanted to get it off my chest to people who understand..... my dog has been my co-pilot for the past 6 years, so I cannot imagine life without him

Sorry to hear about your pup having a seizure.... I always hate when those happen.... they suck.... glad it wasn't worse though...

I think I am allergic to something at the dairy farm 🙁

Ever since I started working there, my breakouts have gotten worse. Not terrible, but definitely worse than before I started working there. I usually only work 2-3 days a week there. My breakouts heal when I am not working, and come back after I have worked a couple days in a row. It's been like this for the last 4 months(it didn't start right away, which makes me think something changed at work, no idea what though).

This last week, I worked 5 days, 4 of them in a row. The breakouts started like usual a couple days in. I've been off for 2 days now and this morning I woke with whitehead acne literally covering my face and neck!! 😱 I have NEVER had it this bad. And I always take a shower and wash my face with mild face wash after work! (gotta love cow crap)

Oh, and it always itches like crazy. 😡

I've worked at other dairies and not had this happen. 😕

It sort of looks like this, but not red. Unless I scratch it, which I am trying reaally hard not to do. Argh!!

this is not medical advice... but you might want to look into scabies. it would fit the only-when-you-work thing since the bovine variant cannot maintain a full life cycle on humans.
 
I was thinking possibly demodex(scabies for humans :laugh:), but that would normally show up whether I was working or not. (All humans have a few demodex normally😎 But when there's too many they can cause problems)

There are no visible patches on any of the cows(they are really healthy). It's a university research herd. So, I dunno.

Things to rule out: I rarely touch my face except when it's super hot and I sweat prefusely, then I wipe with a towel every 5 minutes(towel does not touch the cows). But this last week was cooler, so I didn't do that.

I do get a few sprinkles of cow crap on my face, but only like 6-7 small spots. :laugh:

I cannot think of anything else that touches my face.

(I can't afford a doctor right now, so I'll just have to live with it)


E: it's only on my face, not my arms, so I'm thinking not scabies. My arms have more contact with the cows than my face.

The scabies mite and the demodex mite are two different species. Demodex is normal for all animals/people. The scabies mite (for people as well as animals) is different from the Demodex mite. Humans can not get demodex from other animals (as far as I have learned) but can get the scabies mite from other animals.
 
The only other thing that comes to mind, is cattle hormone drugs. We are currently(for the past 1.5 months) been breeding and some of the cows have been given injections. But I have not handled the drugs myself. But maybe just being around the cows cycling has put my hormones more out of whack than usual. 🙄 (I have whacky hormones, resembling PCOS :laugh:)

maybe the heat could be aggravating the situation

When I broke out the heat seemed to aggravate it due to the overproduction of sebum which is food for the p acnes 😡

my friend who worked at a mexican restaurant broke out really bad like that to but once she quit she said it subsided

maybe once you're out of that environment it will subside

have you tried anything topical otc to try and help remedy it?

acne's sucks i've had it for 18 years ongoing still periodically

I wondered this at first too, BUT I wash my barn clothes in the barn washer with the same detergent. And don't have any problem wearing the clothes.
 
My teeth hurt so bad..... ever since I got them whitened a few weeks back there has been pain... just seems to be even worse now..... it is driving me insane... not sure what to do about it..... argh..... I may have to try to get in to see a dentist... not sure what the feck they did to me 🙁 I want to pull my damn teeth out of my bloody head..... I have resorted to biting my tongue and now my tongue is getting raw....
