I know what you mean... we have some old Rescue 911 tapes too. They do have sentimental value.

I thought I was the only crazy person out there that absolutely loved that show.

I was completely obsessed. I wanted to be an EMT for the longest time. And I was always scared of semi trucks full of sand falling onto us when we drove past

I became afraid that my sister would fall through the window behind her chair at the kitchen table because she would keep tipping backwards.

Trying to get home and all of the buses are delayed.... WTF....

I just want to go home.

blah i hate bus systems! i feel your pain, today we waited 55 minutes for a bus to come back around to our stop after 7 went by in the other direction (they're supposed to then turn around and come back at scheduled times, but the weekend people are extremely unreliable). in that time, only one returned but it was partially full and couldnt take all of the people waiting. hope you get home soon!

Worked a 12 hour shift today. Exhausted. Clients aren't my favorite this week.

Some examples:
me: your cat is sick and I'd like to do blood work to determine what kind of illness there is.
client: He's just sick of seeing Romney mistreated on TV (I wish I were kidding).

Client brings in an almost non-responsive cat. He's not being eating for 2 days. So I talk to them while I'd doing my exam and as I'm listening to the heart, I hear the owner's sister say "aww look, she's listening to his little heart." and start laughing. He turned out to be diabetic (and ketoacidotic) and in renal failure with a raging infection. We had to euthanize due to finances 🙁

Early morning tomorrow because my last clients of the day didn't want to hospitalize their very sick dog overnight. So to help their dog do better longer, I need to get there early so we can start fluids, etc.

Rant: Apparently our neighbor was asking why we paid money to adopt an older dog and in a rather negative way while talking to my mother. Only know what she told me about it, but sounded not worded nicely.
I understand that some people aren't going to do as much for their senior pets and their dog, while overweight and slightly arthritic, is still cared for and well-loved, but, really? There's no need to sound judgmental about my choice to have an older dog.

But rave that makes up for it: We have a client whose geriatric (I think almost 16?) medium-size dog is boarding with us and who apparently made a comment to the receptionist about how she was happy how nice/gentle/slow I was being taking the dog to be weighed and then to our boarding area. The reception told her I had recently adopted an older dog myself and the owner said something about how she loves older dogs and hates that they get discriminated against in lots of situations. 😍

Anatomy. Too many different arteries and nerves.

Welcome to the world of vet med! 😀

The only good thing I found about anatomy is that most of the terms are labeled relative to their location in the body. And that most major arteries are followed by veins of same/similar names and usually with a similar nerve associated with it.

I mad a flowchart/map (literally) of the arteries/veins/nerves when I took the workshop this summer and it helped me tremendously.

getting out of surgery while my phone wakeup alarm is going off in the morning sure is fun.

25 hours, lots of caffeine. little food. no sleep. Couple more to go before I can nap.

If you find this, I am going to want to see it also!!! I can't even picture what it looks like.

I can't guarantee its all the vessels, since we only looked at certain portions, but it's pretty awesome.

I am so tired of sitting in this chair. I sit in it to watch movies, I sit in it to read, I sit in it with my computer in my lap. It's a very comfy chair, rocks, but it doesn't recline, but after awhile, your body gets sick of it.

I cannot wait until I can get a computer desk and chair! (and sitting on the couch is worse, need to replace the couch)

My Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets movie is missing. 🙁 I wanted to watch that just now.

And I have 2 books missing, though I'm pretty sure I know where those went. (Ex-roommate stole them when he left 2 years ago. He couldn't take them all because I had my other ones at my parents house.) I need to replace those.

GoHastings.

They have really cheap new and used books and movies.

Oooo thank you! I was going to look on Amazon when I had the extra money. (I don't even bother looking otherwise )

You're welcome!! Just a quick look at the website came up with the 2-Disc widescreen DVD set for $2.95 including shipping. That is for a used one but both my mother and I have used this company for years and have never had a problem with a used product.

I have to start 2nd year tomorrow. Wahh. I'm excited to see my friends every day again but this year seems like it may kill me

Can't sleep because I have this pulsing sound in my right ear. It has been there for a few weeks. Just sounds like there is little bursts of blood passing right in front of my eardrum to the pace of my heart. It only happens when laying down.

Just sleep standing! Jk that sucks. Can you elevate your head?

Sleeping on my stomach makes it go away, I just prefer sleeping on my side.

Try taking sudefed before bedtime and see if that helps. Or any other really good sinus decongestant. Helped me when I had that.

5am, why am I up?! Ugh. My dad has an outpatient procedure at the hospital today. I guess I get to be a human nurse for the day instead of an Animal nurse! Maybe I'll get some of my PS started!

Bf's crazy ex gf called me again in the middle of the night to cuss at me in Spanish. I have no idea what she's saying but I know she's pissed that he is with me. It's getting a bit annoying.

She just sent me a text calling me names and just cussing the entire time. It's so hard not to answer.

Just spent $3 and 2 hours on a failed trip to buy a lab coat because I forgot to ask if they had my size hen I called.

Fail.

P.s.why do we even need lab coats for anatomy?! I would rather wear scrubs....

RANT: When you take the GRE and have great scores in two of the sections, but totally bomb the third section and have to retake the whole thing. Ughhh. Oh well, at least this time around I know what to focus on when studying.

What section? If it was the writing section I wouldn't worry about it. Many schools don't even require you to take it. Unless you are applying to a Canadian school, I think they look at it. But if it's the writing portion, check with the schools you're applying to, to see if they require it.

So every since I left anatomy lab today, the fingers in my left hand have been numb... for the past 4 hours 😕.
It sometimes happens to me, usually in the same arm each time, but it's really annoying. Having tingly fingers is really really annoying!

I agree that is really annoying. Hopefully it goes away soon.

Are you allergic?

It using gloves too small...? 😛

lol no. I think it was from holding my hemostats to try and get all the damned fat off our gigantic dog. But it's been happening to me more and more frequently.

My parents and I decided to put my old lab mix, Sugar, to sleep. She is 15, arthritic, has dementia, and just has a poor quality of life. I've had her since 1999. She was the first dog that was truly mine. I trained her and loved her and she has been my best friend for a long time. I know it is what its in her best interest, but I'm still very sad.

Here she is a few months ago...
