That IS really pedantic lol.

I guarantee you there are people in medicine & veterinary medicine that don't automatically think "enyzme" when they see "-ase" or think "worldwide" immediately on "pandemic." It's not always necessarily clear to everyone that a pandemic must be global. We might know better, but I feel like those aren't a big deal.

However ATM machine and PIN number make me want to stomp people's faces.

I got purple hair dye all on a shirt I like. Halp.

In my university city, we had a Spar Road. Spar stood for S**port Access Road. So the road is called "S**port Access Road Road"

don't wear shirts you like when you dye your hair or in the first few days afterwards !!

C'mon, TT - are you a novice at this?? I've been wearing black/red shirts every day since I redid my hair last week! Not as much is coming off in the shower now though so I might be able to branch out soon! 😉

EDIT: Pictures??

It's just some streaks. Purple, blue, and dark pink.

And yeah - instead of being more careful, I'm less careful because I'm usually pretty neat when I color. But it turns out that random bits all over your head is harder than a larger section of hair... and I made a mess.

So I just checked the weighting of our physiology test today... 36% of our grade. Our first physio test is worth more than any of our other four, including the "final." Thanks for easing us into that a bit. 🙄

Longest effin' day ever!

Here's the rundown:
-worked yesterday 6am-3pm on very little sleep, planned to take a nap after work. Went shopping(yay!), drove around town paying bills, went home
-took a nap at 5pm with no alarm(so aiming for 4-5 hours 😀), because I didn't have to work the next day(today) and figured I could go back to bed at like 3 am and sleep in this morning.
-Got phone call at 8pm last night, asking if I could move cows this morning. *sigh* I would not have taken the nap if I knew I was working.
-work this morning at 5:30am on very little sleep previous 2 nights.
-Nobody told me we were switching pastures, and they weren't done putting up fence, so I move cows and cows go everwhere. 🙄 Work takes an extra 1.5 hours than expected.
-At 10am my boss asks if I can move cows tonight AND train a new person in. Thanks for asking 6 hours ahead of time. 😡
-Get off work, go grocery shopping. Get home, eat, relax for 1 hour.
-Borrow dad's truck at 2pm, go load up table, chairs and dresser(all very heavy) and bring back to house, unload, deliver truck back.
-Go BACK to work at 4pm and train in new guy(no idea who it is or when they will get there)
-hopefully get off of work by 9pm, go home and crash. I'll probably get asked to move cows again tomorrow. I hope not.

They messed up the pasture fencing today, so getting cows is going to take more time than it normally does for the next few days. 🙁

I am so freakin' tired! I just want a nap.

Oh and I have to work 16 hours on Sunday. Joy.

(Off to go get the furniture now)

And now it just started Effin' RAINING! 😡😡

E: &^@$&%^ He didn't leave the truck where he said he would(University lot). I have no freakin' clue where he is and his cell phone is broken!! I could have taken a freakin' nap before work, if I knew I couldn't move furniture. FML.

Repro test next week that I'm trying to study for. Been sitting her for hours but can't focus because I have a huge headache. And gonna be on campus for another several hours because I'm going to a dairy club meeting and representing our horse club at a welcome party. Ugh.

Longest short week ever. I am one giant, emotional, stressed out bruise.

I can't breathe.. Still.. Fell asleep for little bit not too long ago and I woke up gasping for air.. 🙁

uuummmm... doctor? Could you be developing asthma.... or... dying? 😎

👍 Epic things can happen at anatomy parties

Oh man. Anatomy party 1st year was so much fun. I remember drinking all of K-dog's purple drank (just grape juice and vodka I think). I felt bad since he is diabetic but I think he ended up finding something else to drink. Karaoke was so much fun. I didn't get to go last year.

I really need to see a doctor but can't until probably next week. Right now, I am scared to fall back asleep.. 🙁

Are emergency room or urgent care clinic not options? If they are, I would recommend going. Or maybe there's a 24-hour phone hotline? I know my college had a 24-hour hotline that was staffed by nurse practitioners, and I used it once when I couldn't get to a doctor right away.

I agree, if you are waking up struggling to breathe that's not good. Take care of yourself!

I'd say I'm so ready for the weekend if I wasn't working both days. Ugh. 🙁

Taking my cat to the vet a week earlier than scheduled. She seems to have made a steep decline.🙁

I have never had panic attacks. This had happened before, usually lasts a few days and then goes away.

Hopefully it's just stress. We just learned about stress causing chest pains. Feel better soon!

I am oober super duper mega frustrated! I'm on the board of directors of a newer-ish rescue group. I'm one of the founding members ... now that we've got a lot of volunteers and are receiving a lot of applications (500 in 6 months!) we need to create a more solid structure or process (that's the engineer in me). I've been trying to create a formal process on my end of things but I feel like other board members are resistant. Another board member has gone behind my back to do things and has made me look bad. I offered to resign and let her take my job, since she clearly wants it, but everyone was resistant to that.

It's like I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. :bang: My board term is up in March 2013 and I'm definitely not going to do another term. Originally I wanted to stick it out until then so I could use one of my fellow board members for an LOR in the future if necessary but some things came to light last night that make me want to resign right this moment! I'm so frustrated/mad that I feel nauseated and I don't even want to look at my email.
:boom:

Ran bloodwork today on our hospital cat because he had been funny yesterday and he's gone way downhill and has probably something like another two weeks or so, if that. This has been a long time coming (he was diagnosed with lymphoma in, I think, February 2011), but still, 🙁
He had been on a restricted diet for food allergies, but he's now getting all the smelly fancy feast and cat junk food he wants and is at least being a chow hound again for a little bit.

i am so stressed out after this (short but felt super duper long) week. feel like i don't know anything anymore. i feel like i don't know how to STUDY anymore.

however i did go out and have 3 beers tonight and lamented with some friends abt the woes of vet school. don't worry, we are not alone - everyone felt a bit overwhelmed after this week for sure........

don't know if i helped at all 🙄

Ever have a day where your medicine just isn't doing it?

I lost 2 patients today. One was a yellow cat that I diagnosed with pancreatitis and hepatic lipidosis. The owners were amazing. They really tried to give her the best shot. She went into DIC and passed away overnight.

The other was an 11 year old rottie mix with terrible arthritis. I started seeing him for his arthritis after he collapsed. I was sure there was something else going on, but we kept it to arthritis treatment. He also passed overnight.

RIP. You were both amazing animals and I wish I could have done more for you.

FWIW I don't even know you and I can tell you are an amazing doctor, lost patients or not.

👍👍👍👍 definitely second this.

from what i've read on SDN (posts that you write and such) you sound like an AMAZING compassionate, caring doctor. I'm sure you did the best you could for your patients.

btw, pancreatitis and hepatic lipidosis is a nasty combination 🙁 i'm so sorry.

I absolutely agree with this! Dyachei, you sound like an absolutely amazing vet and anyone would be proud to take their pets to you. I'm sorry you lost two today...🙁 But at least they are now free of pain.

I have been ignoring everything in order to get through a week full of quizzes and tests and labs.

On Monday I found out that my great aunt passed away last week. My grandfather (who is 95) went into hospice over the weekend. Since I moved a month ago, he went from relatively capable, able to do most of his daily stuff without help, and participate in conversations when with the family, to being completely non-responsive as of the beginning of the week. He passed away on Wednesday. I am having a really hard time dealing with it from 2000 miles away, but going home just isn't affordable or feasible right now. I miss my family, I miss my boyfriend, and I am finally done with all the exams so I can relax a little and all I am is sad. I am relieved that he passed quickly and with relatively little pain, but he was such an incredible human being and I am going to miss his stories.

Icing on the cake was yesterday, when I got a little too complacent, spooked my horse, and got kicked across the stall.

What a crappy week! Thinking of you. Let me know if I can help with anything or if you need a coffee date to bitch about things.

This summer I lost my grandfather in a very similar process. I am very sorry, my prayers are with you and your family in this tough time.

TT - In a word: bitchin!! Oh how I miss doing cool things to my hair. Damn this needing to maintain a sense of professionalism.

And WEN, I'm so so sorry to hear about your losses. I will continue to keep you and yours in my thoughts. If you need anything, let me know. *hug*
