That moment at 5am Saturday when you want to kick your generous side in the face for volunteering to help a fellow vet student.
 
I have a serious pen problem. I was studying yesterday and all 4 of my pens dried out. I stocked up at NAVC last year because that's where I can find the pens I like (javelins with blue ink), but I think I'm actually out and NAVC is still another 3.5 months away. I had to go to Walgreens and buy some pens and I think people were looking at me weird because I stood in the aisle for a good 5 minutes before deciding on a pack. It was time well spent because I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. The only downside was that they didn't have any packs of all blue pens so I had to get one that's mixed with black and red.

Anyway, I feel like a complete freak for being so weird about my pens but I know that a lot of you are the same way so I came here to rant about my dilemma.

:laugh: Pens were the only school supply I didn't skimp on. With as much as we use pens every day, you have to have the ones you like 👍
 
The English department at my hs made a special pen order every year. I was allowed to ask for a few too. Hahaha

sharpie pens 😍😍😍 i have all 10 colors for this year 😀 my mother relentlessly makes fun of me for buying a million packs of these but they dont exist in grenada! what would i do with out them?!? i like sharpie highlighters too, but they have to be the thin ones

I have become obsessed with the sharpie liquid highlighters. My brother bought me 3 of the 10-packs for my birthday this year. Almost killed the first pack already

mm see i wont do liquid because i'm not okay with bleeding :-/ but i just figured out that the clicky ones come in more than 6 colors so thats next on my list!

anyone ever tried the sharpie gel highlighters? i've been curious but not enough to buy them :laugh:

They actually don't bleed as much as you think. They bleed less than the regular sharpie ones and less than the papermate ones.

One of the girls in my class uses the gel highlighters. They weird me out but she really likes them.
 
Picked up a stupid cold thing from someone at work.
Felt slightly off Friday, not so great today, and then made a quick exit during the last appointment this morning. Basically told the vet, "hold this dog, I'm going to get someone else to help you" and she was like, "yes. go." Apparently, I really looked that pale.
Just hoping I didn't get her sick.

Came home and slept for seven hours after getting about 10 hours last night.

Really hoping I feel better tomorrow to drive out to meet a friend from undergrad who is in town at a horse show.

You too? You have my sympathies. Ironically, I'm stuck at work this weekend with said individual. I've warned him his life is in GRAVE danger if I don't clear up quick (we don't get along very well thus it wouldn't be shocking to anyone of I did him harm :meanie:). Damn thing is sitting in my sinuses and my chest. Thus, I cannot run and that is NOT good... 1/2 Marathon in 7 weeks!!! :scared:
 
I'm being a jealous brat right now. I want to have a lazy Sunday like all my other friends on Facebook 😡
Instead I have to study for immuno, endo, embryo, and molec bio.

I have to study for mammalogy and immunology and write a paper for Tuesday. Let's be lame busy Sunday friends!

I actually want to study. I'm trying out a new method and I think it's working. I really need a good grade on my next bio test but instead I'm here on a forklift and watching the other girl clean stalls. Ugh.

I'm totally jealous of your all-day Sunday study sesh. That's what I'm desperate to but I need to drive an hour and a half to find a bridesmaids dress, shoes, a gift, etc etc etc for a wedding I'm in (in 6 DAYS).

Should I have bought the dress earlier: yes
Have I had time: hell no
Do I have a micro anatomy midterm on Monday: yes
Will I be sleeping tonight: unlikely

I'm now failing at being a vet student and a competent MOH. Balls.

It could actually mean food for me to be honest. Sometimes good grades mean money from grandparents in Germany. Good = money = food -> good grade = food grade.

Nope. Can't even find my own. I'm sitting here watching Sunday NFL countdown. My grades always suck in the fall. Football is obviously more important.

I would like to be going to the animal shelter in half an hour with Animal Alliance, but I guess I'm not...or at least I assume I'm not, because the president hasn't gotten back to me.

She said she'd send out an email with the schedule since the meeting couldn't be mandatory on Wednesday due to Yom Kippur, but she never did. When she sent an email that the Saturday trip was cancelled, I asked if I could get in on the Sunday trip, but she never responded. That was on Friday that I asked, btw. I feel like she should have checked her school email since then, especially since she was asking people who couldn't go on Saturday once it was cancelled to email her if they wanted to go on Sunday.

So I guess I'll just be doing chem and physics all day with no nice animal break. Which I wouldn't mind quite so much if she would just get back to me and tell me that there's no space in the cars or something. 😡
 
I feel like ****e and it is super hard to sit on the computer and focus to type anything, but I am sick of sitting doing nothing - so I am going to try here....

On Friday, I woke up feeling like crap (not sure if it was the alcohol the night before or some sort of bug), but I could not stand up feeling dizzy and needing to puke... I could barely sit up.... so most of Friday was spent curled in a ball trying to stay warm (as I was freezing) and hoping I would not puke again (after I had rid myself of everything that was in my stomach - which TBH was not a lot - but you can still puke for awhile after). By Friday night I could keep a little water down and a small bit of diet coke. I was trying to get something in my system. At the same time my eye infection had come back full force and I was in a ridiculous amount of pain. I was not able to sleep at all on Friday night - I even tried tramadol with no luck.

I spent the majority of Saturday at the eye hospital cause after seeing the regular doctor - he wanted me to see the head doctor who was in surgery, so I had to wait forever. They wanted to admit me overnight, but I was not going to do that. So sent me home with 2 diff antibiotics to take 1 every half hour throughout the night. I had to set an alarm and wake myself up to take them - so no sleep last night really - plus one had to be kept in the fridge, so I had to walk downstairs once an hour. Still not able to eat most of Saturday - finally semi-hungry Saturday night so ordered pizza and fries with the flatmate. Took a few bites of pizza and my throat hurt so bad I could not eat any more & tried to eat a few fries as they were softer just to get some nutrition in. My throat was killing me after. And I also did not feel so well after eating either, but managed to keep everything down.

Today went back to the eye hospital and doctor at least thinks eye is getting better. Continue drops, but at least will not have to do them throughout the night. Have to recheck again with him tomorrow morning and then with a specialist on Tuesday morning (same specialist I saw with my first eye infection). Oh and they should have the scraping results back by then as well (yeah they scraped my eye with a scalpel 😱 ). Tried to eat something softer this morning and throat still hurt, so now just on hot liquids. Bought some ice cream for dinner tonight. yeah...... and I am still feeling nauseous. ugh.....

I have lost 5 lbs in the last 2-3 days which is definitely not healthy. I think most of it though is water weight, so should come back if I can eat normally at some point.

Just want to feel normal again.... and worried about missing class this week and getting behind as already missed 2 lectures on Friday. 🙁

Instead of trying solid foods, why not try meal replaces- like the slimfast shakes or ensure? Don't know what they have over there, but send your flatmate out to look for something for you. Feel better🙂:luck:
 
Whiny rant: My bf and my's 5 year anniverary is a week from Monday, and we're not going to be able to do anything to celebrate because he's in class and teaching labs from 8 am to 10 pm and then has to read textbooks till bedtime. I know we'll end up doing something the day before, but I wanted to celebrate on the day.... We've only twice gotten to celebrate anniversaries on the day of because of Yom Kippur and exams in previous years, and I was looking forward to planning something big this year because I'm in a gap year so I have time.
It's silly to whine about, because I can just plan for Sunday rather than Monday, but it's bothering me.
 
I'm really nervous about my anatomy exam tomorrow. I'm feeling so discouraged. My friend are all so confident, and I'm nowhere near that. *sigh*

Thanks 🙂 I have yet to see anything meal replacement like here and sadly there is no big grocery store within walking distance, so that will have to wait... but hoping it doesn't carry on much longer. I had some ice cream for dinner as that seemed like the best option.
 
Just spent like 1.5 hours on the phone with Verizon trying to pay my internet bill because their portal website is a piece of s*** and won't let me see my bill. It told me I owed x amount of dollars, and then when I went to pay it, it told me I didn't owe anything. It took me 3 times to get a person to provide me with the correct account number to pay my bill. If I have to go through this process every single freaking time, I'm so switching to Comcast.

That's weird. I've had Verizon Fios for 3 years now and LOVE them! I've never had a problem. Hope it's just an isolated incident that you won't have to deal with again. :xf:

I actually don't have FiOS. It's not available in my area of Philly yet. I haven't had issues with them until now, so I'm not really sure what the problem is but it's really obnoxious and has put me in a really bad mood making me unmotivated to study for my dev bio exam tomorrow morning.
 
Rant:

Went to tell my parents I finally submitted vet apps and when I called they didn't talk to talk. Found out my step-dad was cheating on my mom with a prostitute who was blackmailing him in order for her not to tell my mom (they have been in marriage counseling since January, he started with her in May). Apparently before I called, she and her bf was calling my parents house all day.

They've talked about splitting up about in the last 19 years and it isn't the first time, or even first time this year he's been unfaithful but this time it sounds like they are finally calling it quits.

My mom hasn't worked in two decades, has MRSA and has no friends in the area. Dispite sounding like an *******, my step-dad is great and is the only dad i've ever had...

So much for submitted VMCAS to relieve stress, traded one stress for another yet again.

End Rant.
