In case you ever thought it was a good idea, I would advise you to NEVER date someone you work with.I should've known this going in, but it just gets messy. I dated this guy from my work during last school year and he dumped me sometime in the spring. We both kept it pretty cordial and we haven't really had too many problems. BUT, I found out that he's now dating another girl from work 🙄 who is a lot like me, but about 6 inches taller. I'm hurt because I think that's really inconsiderate of him and I would never do that to him... it makes me feel pretty worthless 🙁 I applied for a new job a few weeks ago hoping to remove myself from the awkwardness but have yet to hear back... sigh

I had surgery to repair cartilage that I tore off when I dislocated my kneecap a few weeks ago (ugh). What did you have done? The funniest part of injuring myself and walking around with crutches is that people like to share their own injury stories. Invariably they're WAY crazier than mine, and make me feel like a wuss.
I guess I'm lucky, because if I really need to, I can unwind the ace bandaging and reach most of the skin under it. But then I would need to rewrap it right away, so I feel like there's no point. :annoyed:
 
The calf with atresia ani was euthanized as he was not eating well after surgery and was going downhill.... 🙁

I figured he would not make it, but was still pulling for the little guy

Okay...Ima butt in as a mom. First, it is wrong that she is invading the space of her 22 YO! For god's sake, if she has any "concerns", she should sit down and talk to you, not snoop. Secondly, YAY for you for being responsible and taking birth control into your own hands! She should be proud of you for that (regardless of her own beliefs)! At 22, you don't need the additional stress/responsibility of a child. I say good for you! If she doesn't want to have a "talk" then YOU should take the initiative. Just keep it calm and have everything you want to discuss ready. Respect is a two way street. 🙂

Oh she has had a talk with me but it was a one sided talk where I got the "Over my dead body will you ever take any hormonal methods as birth control or have sex before marriage". I know she means well and I respect her but she needs to realize that life these days is different then when she was my age. Oh well, if she knows then she knows. At least I am being responsible and aware of my actions!

But I guess I am the baby of the family, so she's just probably having a hard time accepting that her baby is grown up. Sorry mom 🙄

Hormone BC isn't always used for Birth Control. 😉 Acne, regulating your period, reducing severity of period(cramps for 1). There's a few argument boosters for ya. 👍

When I was 18, my mom "cleaned out" my purse. She found condoms and tampons. My friend wanted me to hold the tampons for her and I forgot to give them back. She freaked out... more about the tampons though. Her response was "I guess you are using THOSE now too."

I was allowed to go on BC at 17.5. But I wasn't allowed to use a razor when I shaved until I moved out (I use VEET because mom said I'd regret shaving later). I'm still not allowed to have guys in my room for extended periods. I have to lie if I want to go to a party or have a drink. I'm almost 24.

I almost had to go back to living at home. No way. I feel your pain!!

Hahaha! My mom had that moment with me too. She freaked out over me using tampons and then me wearing thongs. She has that mentality of "those girls". But she is fine with me going on dates and the like. Though I am not allowed to come home past 1am. Moms can be so odd sometimes!

And I just realized I am putting so much personal info out there.Whooops 🙄

Haha soo true! It's just silly that I can't discuss this with her for what it is because I know she would get unnecessarily upset and work herself into a tizzy.
 
I just moved back in with my parents after living on my own for 9 years 😱 It's driving me absolutely nuts! I just have to keep reminding myself it's only temporary, and luckily I'm not home too often with work and school
 
Had some really wierd dreams last night and spent a lot of time tossing and turning.
Woke up this morning to stabbing pain on the left side of my neck. Cant even come close to turning my head towards my left shoulder. It's not getting any better and I've had a heating pad on for almost three hours now. I keep having to turn my whole body to see things on that side of me because my head literally will not turn any farther. It's interfering with my plans for the afternoon and it needs to GO AWAY

Hahahha, yeah. So, I like to practice safe sex, I do not like to have allergic reactions to VEET and I hate how unreliable pads can be sometimes. I am such a rebel.

Haha, whenever I am home, the 'rents want to know where I am going, who with and when I will be home. I have to lie if I am planning on walking home alone after dark. I am so happy that I will be working up until Christmas break and won't be home for 2 weeks like I was in undergrad.

I'm 27 and live with my mom because of our horse farm. If I am 20 minutes late coming home from my normal schedule, she calls me to make sure I'm okay. And I still have to lie about my SO- and my mom is very liberal and not at all religious! I guess they never stop being parents and still always see us as their children.
 
Silly rant but I lost my travel coffee mug 🙁 How am I supposed to fuel my coffee addiction without my special mug? It is midterm season, I need caffeine or it is not going to be pretty!

I thought I lost my coffee mug a few weeks ago when I left it in physics lab and actually tried to sprint back from the parking garage to get it in what was about to be heavy rain, only to find the building locked and to literally run full speed into a metal chain across part of the sidewalk.

And then I found it the next week!!!! Was inappropriately excited.

Don't lose hope!

My rant: My parents were m.i.a. for much of the day. My mom was going to see a specialist about the issues she's still having from her shingles; so I thought perhaps she ended up in the hospital for some tx. After calling 4 of the local hospitals by my parents, I located her at the giant medical center ER. Why? Her heart failed (again) and her defibullator went haywire to the point where the locals couldn't help her. Thankfully, she's stable and will be getting a room; but I'll be on the horn w/ cardiology in the morning. The poor woman's been through the wringer; and I just don't know how much more she can take.

That's terrible. So sorry to hear that. I will definitely keep her in my thoughts. Maybe I'll try running into Ryan Lochte again to cheer her up 😉

I had a really bad, bad auto accident with lower extremity injuries. I had a Lis Franc dislocation of the metatarsals in the left foot, fractured left ankle, torn meniscus in left knee with open laceration, sprained right ankle, slab fracture to the right tibia, complete ACL rupture on right knee with partial ruptures of the medial and lateral collateral ligaments also, fractured right knee cap, torn meniscus and open laceration to the right knee.

So I have had meniscal repair done to both knees as well as an ACL replacement to the right knee. Since the other ligaments were only partial tears, I chose not to do anything about them. The knee fracture required a screw to keep it together. The Lis Franc dislocation required multiple screws and pins and a skin graft. I think they fused the ankle as there isn't much mobility to it. The slab fracture didn't require anything. I had to have an ex-fix on the right leg and wore moon boots for 24/7 for 2 months. I also was in a wheelchair for 2 months before transitioning to crutches. I have regained a large portion of my ROM back but there are things that I can't do well like run but pretty good otherwise. Recovery took a really long time. I think that experience is what helped to strengthen my resolve to go further than I thought possible.

Everyone is different in what they are able to tolerate. Don't be down on yourself about that. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. 😉

Ahhh, the lightbulb goes off......yep, in some cases the baby is hardest for moms to lose. My youngest brother is your age but nowhere near your maturity. 🙄 I love him but he is only 6 years older than my oldest so that makes it tough. No parent wants to think about their child having sex before marriage. 😱 However, you are taking responsibility for prevention/protection. Perhaps, one day mom will realize how smart you are to be responsible.

That's a mom checking to be sure you are safe.🙂 Nope, we never stop being parents and worrying about our kids (even when you aren't little anymore). It's our job...😍

Thanks, guys. The fact that she's able to go to a regular cardio room rather than to the ICU is a BIG step in the right direction. So, hopefully, they can get her up and around soon. And Em, thanks for the offer - I'm sure it would do the trick. However, I'm pretty certain her morphine drip is making her plenty cheery right now! :laugh:

Note to self: do not get this then work a 12 hour overnight. When I came in for the shot I wasn't scheduled all night, then my asshat co-worker called in sick. Hour and a half to go and I've got a slight fever and some aches, which are lovely in my air-conditioned as hell center. To top it off, "sick" co-worker posted pics to FB of him and lady friend drawing hearts in the sand and watching the sun set while I sat here covering for him.
 
My student loan repayment starts next month 🙁

Luckily it is supposed to be $155/month... for 100+ months.
F*** the high cost of education.
 
Activating mini rant now: I graduated from undergrad in May and just applied to vet schools this cycle. I currently work at a mixed animal practice but I really want to try and get an internship in something I haven't done yet, like research (I did research as an undergrad but it didn't really relate to vet med), public health, wildlife, etc. I also need to get a paid internship since there is no way I can work for free for 6 months and pay off my loans. The problem is I live in RI and there is legit nothing here!! I've spent the last month trying to look for something and I can't find anything! I'm getting so frustrated!!! Okay sorry I just needed to get that off my chest. I'm good now 🙂 haha. End of rant.

That is annoying. I had a coworker call me on a Saturday morning that I had off (luckily I didn't answer the phone) and he left me a message asking me to cover his shift because he was sick. By the time I got the message, it was way too late so I called him to let him know that I was sorry I got his message late and couldn't cover for him... He was out at a bar when I called him. He then told me, "Oh well they must not have needed anyone then because I didn't go in." 😱


Pissed me off. So the office manager and I had a little discussion about what happened and his ass was fired about 2 weeks later... (apparently he had multiple issues)... And my other coworkers were mad at ME... 😕

Luckily, I was only at that clinic for the summer so I wasn't there for too long after that incident.

My heart is broken. Today I had to drop my fiancé off at the airport so that he could go back to the Army :cry: :scared: .. He has 9-14 month deployment coming up.. Words cannot describe the sadness and fear I'm feeling.

Then while cruising through SDN I suddenly remembered I forgot to put something in my explanation statement on the VMCAS about the incomplete I have on my transcript from last semester ( senior project which is still in progress, therefore incomplete until Dec when I graduate) :smack:

Crawling in a hole, but not before I :barf:
 
HIPAA. I get it, I really do. But, for the love of god, could you at least tell me whether or not my mother is still drawing breath without having a password?!?!? :bang:

When I get out there tomorrow I'm taking my stepdad to buy a cell phone...
