The heating pad on one of my reptile tanks caught on fire at 3 am 😱

Thank goodness my baby beardie is okay, wish I could say the same for my collection of vinyl records that were sitting under the tank.
 
I have 3 finals in the next 3 days and ive just started vomiting, after hours of stomach pain.

SERIOUSLY?!?!?! I haven't been majorly sick all year and NOW?!?!?! 😡😡😡😡😡😡🙁🙁🙁🙁
 
This weekend sucked (For various reasons)....This week, next week and the following week are going to be hell... attempting to rapid-fire study in order to even have a chance at passing these upcoming exams (And my body sure as hell isn't helping this in the slightest, I can barely keep my eyes open half the time and I am supposed to STUDY and RETAIN information??? :bang:)... I don't even get a break after the exams because then we have another exam in the middle of December.... Can someone slow time down a little bit?



I want to crawl into a hole and :cry:

There will be no crawling in holes, and there will be no crying. Hang in there guys. It undoubtedly gets tough and there are times we all want to give up or scream really loud or throw something, but keep your eye on the prize! You deserve to be there and you WILL rock your exams! Just keep on truckin! 😍

So when i book flights for Grenada/home, I do it many months in advanced. you do it based on the principle the term starts on day x and ends on day y. imagine my inner turmoil when i found out we were going to end 4 days earlier this semester than normal. for many months now, i have been going back and forth on whether or not to move my flight up a few days so i can be home with my family and eat real food and play with my pets for just a few days longer. the kicker is that there is a $150 flight change fee. ugh. thats a lot of money, and it's been keeping me from just doing it.

fast forward to today. i finally make up my mind, i'm going to do it. I'm going to change the flight, pay the money, and be happier than i will be if i'm stuck here for a few extra days. i like it here, its a great country and all, but after 4 months i just want OFF!!! i bet my european vet buddies can relate 🙂 so i look up the flight - it's still there, the cost for it is $369 (which is mysteriously down $5 from when i looked this afternoon...), get all my info together, and make the call. A grumpy lady answers the phone (it's no later than 6:30p her time, but whatever). she blandly asks me for my info and what I want, and then tells me that it will cost me $260. WHAT?!?! now i'm stuttering on the phone. huh?? how is that possible?? she tells me that theres the $150 change fee, and that there is a $110 difference between the flight I previously booked and this one. i politely tell her i'll have to think about that.

so now you're probably thinking "well duh theres a difference between the two flights" except, that would make my original flight out of here $250. those of you who have even glanced at flights to and from grenada are now laughing, because there is no such thing. I paid $866 round trip for this set of flights. you're trying to tell me that coming here in peak times was more expensive than leaving here on peak times?? nope, not buying it. i didn't even get off that nicely with the last set of flights i purchased where my total came to $640. I am extremely lucky with flight costs. i come from a major city on the east coast and flights are pretty cheap for me. but they are not $250. you can't even fly directly from miami to grenada for that price.

i get back on the AA website to do some fishing. i decide to pretend like i want to buy the flight i want singly. look it up, select it, error notice! huh?? "flight no longer exists" wait what?! fine i'll try a later time. same deal. okay, what is going on?? refresh the page again to find that the 1st flight is still missing, but the second is available but $30 more. ...huh? okay so maybe the 2nd flight in my combo is booked, seems reasonable. nope, checked that and there are dozens of seats available on it.

what the heck?! i am so incredibly confused!!! :wtf:
 
Caffeine is no longer working and I have a dev bio exam in the morning...and I still have a lot to do tonight. I've already gone through two coffees, a 5 hour and an energy drink just to get through the day...😴😴😴

Today she thought she'd get my sympathy when she told me she has a 99.6% in statistics and really wishes it could be a 100%

That sounds awesome and delicious. My Dad barely eats, so every year my choices are: running supplies, alcohol, clothes, history books/movies, anything from The Big Bang Theory. It gets old after a while..

Ugh, my husband really doesn't think sometimes. He just texted me to see if I cared if his coworker and his family came over for Thanksgiving dinner. I asked him if he had already invited them. Of course he had. We have his dad, his step-mom, his sister, my mom and dad, and my brother already coming. His coworker and wife have 4 kids. There is no way in hell I could handle that many people. We wouldn't have enough seats, plates, silverware, cups, nothing. And I am doing the majority of the cooking. No way in hell am I going to cook for that many people. So now I get to look like a bitch for telling them that they can't come. He said that he thinks "we" could handle that many people. Easy for him to say since he isn't doing any of the cooking. Seriously, why would you think it was ok to invite that many people without clearing it with your wife first?

Maybe you could ask your husband to ask this other family to bring a few dishes to help feed the crowd? As well as some plates and cups? I can't imagine they would say no. But the whole not having enough seats thing...
 
One of my rats is making sneezing and cooing noises again. How am I going to get an appointment when I work late tonight, my boyfriend does a podcast on Thursday, I work late on Friday and I have to get up early and drive an hour home for my own appointment on Saturday?

I don't drive so I can't just do it at lunchtime or whatever.

Great lunch talk but my blood sugar level dropped in the very beginning, which makes it really hard for me to stay awake. D:
 
The immense stress involved with residency interviews, having no effing idea where I will be or what I'll be doing in 7 months, and the serious feeling that I'm going to fail the NAVLE in three weeks is interfering with my ability to function in daily life. It's like a constant anxiety attack. Ugh. 🙁
 
Sitting in the lobby of the building for my last class of the day... One of my legs is crossed over the other and the side of my shoe is just barely resting on the edge of the bench/ couch thing... The lobby worker lady walks by and tells me to get my foot off the couch..WTF?? It's not like my foot is all,over the couch lol, my leg is crossed like a normal person! 🙄 😎
 
Roommate's cat likes to sit on my chest and ask for attention, and usually I pet her and scratch her ears, which she thoroughly enjoys (third eye lid completely comes out, purring, kneading, etc). Except this time when she came to sit on my chest I had my laptop on my chest. She sat on the laptop and I started talking to her, pet her once, and left her alone. Then she reaches out and scratches my face with no warning and looks like she is going to eat my face, so I shoo her away.

Needless to say, I am not a cat person. At least I'll never be a crazy cat lady 🙄

I remember those feelings. For me, they lasted until March when I finally had a job offer. I know it's not much help right now, but things will work out. Best pieces of advice I got for the NAVLE were to take all of my breaks; don't second guess yourself; don't cram the night before; and celebrate completion with copious amounts of alcohol 😀. Also, don't panic when you see a question you have no clue about (and you will see a few) - just make your best guess and move on. I found the NAVLE questions much more straightforward than any of my exam questions from school. Good luck!:luck:

Do we have to pass NALVE for going an internship or residency? Does it mean that i can apply in one state only not through all US? Sorry for asking but i am so confused now 😕 (have about 3 years ahead so it should help to know more about it 🙂 ).

And please do not worry jjohnston, you will pass the exam for sure! :xf:

you have to have a license to practice medicine as a veterinarian, no matter what you do post-graduation

NAVLE = national license
then you have to meet requirements for each state you wish to be licensed in

if you're a foreign graduate, you must take a foreign licensing exam, then the NAVLE, then state requirements
 
I know they're petty things but the BF seems to have stopped using his brain.
I have worked graveyards for 3/4 of our relationship (1.75 years) he should know by now that I 1) take two meals to work, not one. 2) portion those meals because I am attempting to maintain the 50# weight loss I achieved before we met. 3) I eat my dinner/last meal at 4-5 am because I don't sleep well on a full stomach.

Was he even using his brain when he was 10 min late because he stopped to get McDonald's for me then he pushed it on me with the sad face and I felt effing guilty enough because I can be bitchy when PMSing and didn't want to mess up his day that I 1) ate the mcdonalds I didn't need. 2)didn't even mention he was late. That's one thing if we're going to be up all day but I try to get home before full daylight to get to sleep and I was already trying to be nice by letting him drive me to work/pick me up.

And now here I am, pissed off, too stuffed with calories I didn't need to fall asleep and it's bright out and I can't even gently tell him what's wrong cause he'll stew about it and fudge up his job interview. And I'm PMsing so I'm even more pissy.

Aargh. Can't he just take notes? We've discussed these things before. Yet he still thinks he's being nice.

I had McDonald's a week ago on our road trip to Vegas, I haven't mentioned it since. What I have mentioned is that I'm trying to lose the weigh I put on from our road trip and indulgences this summer.

Are all the men I've dated in a conspiracy to fatten me up?

Men just associative loving someone with taking care of them, which I guess at times means McDonalds breakfast :shrug: I think he was just trying to be nice but I get your point. 😀
 
The server is down at work because IT installed a new security patch last night so we're all sitting here twiddling our thumbs 🙄 ... oh joy

just enjoy that fast food now, you're 2 months away from being cut off! 😉 you're likely to lose weight here because food is expensive, there isn't a lot of time, and there isnt nearly the quantity of junk food here (and the little there is is super expensive). 🙂

Because graduation is exactly a month away today.. senioritis has taken over.. I have zero motivation.. I know it's the home stretch, but I'm really struggling to be productive!!
 
Chest really hurts tonight... worse than the usual.

I think I shall go get that chest x-ray done tomorrow instead of waiting until next week like I had planned.
 
Just got schedule for work next week. 🙁 Thanksgiving is not going to be fun. I work 2 back-to-backs. Thursday AM and PM shifts. Friday PM. Saturday AM. Each shift is 7-9 hours. At least 2 of them are Holiday pay. Only sorta helps.
 
Today just sucks. I'm ready to give up on everything. At least tomorrow can't be any worse.

I "adopted" a turtle from our Turtle Rescue Team for my dad for Christmas. It's one of those sponsor kind of things. I don't have to take care of a turtle and my dad gets something sweet and thoughtful without extra junk.
 
Hate it when my mom goes back on her word. No kitten for me. 🙁
 
My mom bought it and I live there for free so she makes the decision when it comes to pets. 🙁

I think that's silly. You have the dog - I know she isn't permanent, but she runs more of a risk to property damage than a cat would. And if not that, then why would she care? She isn't scooping poo nuggets.
