My school STILL hasn't sent my fall transcripts and apparently won't until tomorrow. Even though there's a Jan 15 deadline and my transcript didn't get there as soon as it should the first time to that school. This is LSU, my IS, it's important and I'm going to be really upset if I don't even get a chance because of my school's administration. And there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it.
 
I have a wicked flu ... Head feels like exploding and my clothes rubbing on my skin feel like sandpaper. I can not remember the last time I felt this bad. Ugggghhhh

I had the same issue with my school. As long as you email the admissions office and let them know, they'll usually put a note in your file and it's nbd.
 
Does ANYONE have a homeopathic remedy for constant sinus headaches (like every single time the weather changes... Which is frequent on the Palouse)?? I've tried neti pots, nasal spray, antihistamines etc. The only thing that works is sudafed. I'm talking the real stuff that makes you feel like a criminal when you buy it. Not to mention I take so much I'm certain they will flag me any day for running a meth lab in my basement.

Everytime I go to the doctor they just say I have a sinus infection and put me on antibiotics. I don't want MRSA so I'm not taking any more antibiotics. Unless I am absolutely required to. Like I have sepsis or my leg has been bitten off by a shark.
 
I've gotten the same massive headache everyday around 3:00 for the last few months. It's driving me nuts and all I ever do is crawl into bed and try to sleep it off. I just want to cut my head off.

Sliver a clove of garlic and stick a sliver up your nose, tickling the back of it. :meanie: Do it over the sink! Your nose will run like crazy!

If there's nothing in there and it's just pressure, that won't help much(works really well for a bad cold though). :laugh: Allergy pills usually help mine.
 
Ew... you'd smell garlic for like a month. Bleh.

I really like the Breathe-rite strips for the purpose of, well, breathing. It doesn't fix much else, but sometimes, it's so nice to just breathe normally...

You could put a cut-in-half onion by your bedside. :laugh: Sop up the bacteria.

At this point I'll try anything. I'll live the rest of my life without smell if I have to just as long as these headaches die.
 
I'm pissed off. I was having SUCH a good day, and came home to an email from the professor I wanted to do my PhD with saying she's almost certainly moving to another university. DAMN IT. There are two labs in the US that do what I was most interested in doing, and now the one I could have been part of - the professor and I had talked, and she was totally on board with my doing my PhD with her - is moving. Not only that, but I was supposed to start working in her lab this quarter, and now I need to find another lab.

I'm not mad at her, far from it. She said she was dissapointed that I won't be working with her, which I thought was sweet and also really encouraging. I'm just mad at the natural cussedness of things in general.

And couldn't I have gotten this news on an ordinary day? Did I have to get this news on a day that otherwise would have been a really good day?

Meh. Dinner and chocolate and YouTube videos have done nothing to make me feel better. Any suggestions?
 
Just need to rant about my current relationship status... I've been sortof dating this guy, but we were never really official because we have some very different lifestyles. We've talked about this multiple times and neither of us really wants to budge on where we stand. We both really want to be with each other, but these are some big issues and we haven't figured out a solution/compromise. Anyway, he basically dumped me last week because he's "trying to date another girl". Which is cool and all, he should be with someone who fits into his lifestyle better than I do and I totally get that. The part that bugs me is that this girl has the same views that I do! I talked to her before all this and found that we are pretty similar on these big issues. In the couple weeks before he told me I noticed he'd been making a few changes, but now I know they were for her and not for me 🙁 I can't help feeling like I'm not good enough...

I know I sound super pathetic, I just needed to get a few things off my chest. My confidence is pretty low when it comes to relationships, which is a shame because I usually have pretty high self esteem in every other aspect of my life.

Ice cream with chocolate sauce for me! If I drank alcohol, I'd probably have some of that too lol. Reading usually helps get my mind off my own issues. It's nice to worry about someone else's problems for a few hours.

I tend to eat my feelings but been trying to get away from that. A good run or workout to good music always helps!

I usually don't have anything in the house available, so I'm taking advantage of the ice cream while it's here 😉 I don't have enough money to buy anything but the essentials, which tends to keep me eating fairly healthy as long as I can avoid the fast food!
 
We're four days into the semester and I'm more exhausted now than I was at the end of last semester. I just wish my dog could get off oxygen already and start recovering so he can come home. Hoping for some good news today, since yesterday was worse than the day before.

I eat my feelings, too. Hence why I gained 10 pounds during finals last semester.
 
I moved out of my parents house about 6 months ago, but had to leave my dog with them. Thankfully they're only about 20 minutes away, so I see them often. My dog has chronic kidney failure. Got a phone call this morning "Can you drive over and set up a bag of fluids? The dog's not eating and I think a little SC fluids will help her."

Last time the dog was "a little off" she ended up in ICU for a few days on IVF at 200mls/hr. I'm afraid that in the time it will take me to get my own place with a yard, my mom is going to kill my dog. Google has told her everything she needs to know about kidney disease.

A few weeks ago I got yelled at for suggesting that her straining to defecate was due to her kidneys - because *obviously* it was a foreign body and *obviously* I don't know what kidney disease looks like. $400 of radiograph and ultrasound later (which I also got yelled at for) ... no foreign body, but her Creatinine was 5+ and her BUN was 60+.

But don't worry, my mom says, sucralfate will fix it. :boom:
 
I'm feeling a little better this morning. I guess I just needed sleep (and a sympathetic message, thank you). Guess it's time to start reading papers from other professors' labs.

argh sounds just like my dad!!! its so frustrating! his latest is that my dog needs a little valium for her anxiety (and not any other drug or behavior modification etc.). i asked him what his year of pharmacology just taught him. i HATE it when he gets all i-know-EVERYTHING and gives you worthless or terrible advice that he expects you to take. mad:

i'm sorry your dog isn't doing well though 🙁
 
I know it's just a drivers test but my stomach hurts and I feel like I'm gonna throw up. I don't know why I'm making myself so nervous.
 
Minor rant: I've been working on gaining experiences in other areas (SA/Food Animal) as was advised on my alternate letter from WCVM. I just want to go back to equine already. 🙁 I've enjoyed the other types of practices and definitely feel more well-rounded, but I miss the ponies. 😛

My transcripts just got sent out. LSU can't tell me yet whether they'll still consider me if my transcript gets there after the 15th. I can't believe my college administration might be ruining my chance at my IS. :cry: This is so stressful.

My dad just had me send an email to the Dean of Academic Affairs, copied to the president of the school 🙂eek🙂. Whatever, if it works I'll be thrilled.

Now I just have congestion and a cough. Boo.
 
Just got over the stomach flu but everyone around me is sick and the bf has been bedridden by this bug for 3 days too. Hope everyone gets better!!!

I agree!!! I was never as happy as when I finally got my license, a YEAR after my first test at the DMV. First time= automatic fail ( expired inspection), second time= almost killed the guy in the passenger's seat with my poor judgement about merging :scared:, third time= success!

Granted, I failed my earlier attempt because I needed more practice driving, but what made it so much worse was my mom, and how hesitant she was to let me practice. It was the most drawn out, depressing, self-esteem-killing period of time I have ever gone through.

Dreading the day I am old and they make me retake the test...

Yuck! The news said norovirus (that's the V/D virus that I'm hoping like heck I DON'T get), flu virus, and whooping cough are all spreading like wildfire 👎
 
I feel fine beyond the sore throat and sneezing. Sucks though because I wanted to go to the gym. Instead I think I will do laundry and clean.
