I think everyone is different with how their body takes to the IUD and it depends size wise of uterus too... I think I probably am one of the more rare cases of bad pain. And I am sure once it is all over with and I am back to normal it will be worth it - as it is good for 10 years.

I have the Mirena IUD. A little different, but still makes angry uterus at first. I cramped really badly and constantly for about a week, and then off and on for about a month, and very occasionaly for maybe three months. After that, no pain and I've been really happy with it. Just for reference. Good luck!

Minor rant:

Sitting at the airport waiting to go home and my flight is supposed to leave in five minutes except the plane isn't even here yet :annoyed:

So this week was Spring break for me and well I spent in working and doing absolutely nothing fun.

Work was miserably busy I worked two 16 hour over night shifts in a row. Plus they tried to call me in early which would have resulted in an 18 hour shift for the Saturday overnight. I told them hell no.. and thankfully I did because I ended up staying 2 hours late instead. When I got in a 6pm everyone was like welcome to hell, when people started showing up at 8am for shift change literally nothing had changed so I gratefully welcomed them back to hell.

I love my job but the staffing blows. If someone is leaving the management knows well in advance because we are all grown ups and give way more then 2 weeks notice but they don't hire anyone until after they leave. Then two people left abruptly for whatever reason and I think that the management was aware of it for a while but we didn't hire anyone to replace them. Which results in the current staff working copious amounts of overtime and having to call people in at 2am when the **** hits the fan but not being able to find anyone to come in.

We have two people after 12am and we had so much to do and we had extremely aggressive patients that required two people to handle, and multiple treatments and diagnostics that required two people. But clients kept walking in which left one person to deal with patients and one to deal with clients.

I slept when I got home at 10am today until 7pm and my body still aches miserably and my eyes are bloodshot and sore. I have bruises and scratches everywhere. Plus I start class back tomorrow.

I'm so sorry, that really sucks. Our hospital is terribly understaffed and I've been in similar situations to what you described, so I feel your pain. 🙁

I hope work calms down a bit for you soon!

I'm applying to many a summer internship. I've put off the two I'm most interested in because I felt that a cover letter would be a nice addition and just haven't felt like writing one of those.

I really don't like cover letters. Mostly, due to the nature of these applications, I feel like they will just be largely ignored by general HR staffers.

Also, I'm supposed to start working at the zoo on Saturday and my supervisor hasn't gotten back to me with the paperwork or any other information. If it doesn't work out I'm going to be very disappointed. I even gave them my blood for a TB test. 🙁

Thanks for letting me know this.... as I am still having pain - granted I am only 2 days out, but just wanted to make sure it was normal, but good to know that all of that is completely normal... so to hear that you had issues for awhile while sucks - at least I will know that it is not abnormal if it happens to me.

I'm home. Which should be a rave, but sadly is not. My mom greeted me saying I should have stayed at my house because my sister is back to being psycho.

We used to think it's just a phase that she's incredibly mean, had temper tantrums, breaks stuff etc. It was for about 8 months though but my mom, while trying to tell her to stop, didn't actually do much about it. Because nothing would work. She told us to just ignore my sister. I did that since it wasn't too hard with me living somewhere else. But that only lasted until I heard about her hitting my grandma so hard that an artery (?) popped on her arm and that she threw all her meds to the dogs saying she wants them to die. Then I gave her a piece of my mind too.

When I came home for Christmas, my mom told me that my sister is very nice lately. She's not sure why but please try to keep it that way. I mentioned it to my sister (being the nice sister I am haha) and she said it was because it's Christmas. Okay.. Well up until a few weeks ago, she was still nice. We kept joking that it was the calm before the storm.

It was. It is bad right now! But we think we figured it out. She changed her medication before Christmas and then back to the old one a couple weeks ago. My mom only figured it out because they just changed it and that's when my sister got mean again. But my sister doesn't believe her. My mom took those meds away and is going to talk to the doctor this week, but my sister is PISSED because she doesn't wanna take the 'good' meds since they don't help as much with her asthma. She is screaming, slamming doors (one broke last night I think while I was in bed), stomping around the house and threatening my mom. When I talked to her earlier before that, she was nice to me but only because my mom wasn't close by.

But even then, I don't trust her. She can be horrible when she has one of her moments and I'm worried there will be one while I'm not there. I brought my dog with me. What if she decides to be mad at me too and do something to her? Ivy doesn't know her very well yet, so she might growl if she comes closer to the crate. But is that gonna keep her away or make it worse? I'm not sure what to do. Hopefully she'll keep going to school this week because then I won't have to worry most of the day.

I took a vacation day from my full time job on Friday to work at the SA clinic and be there for my cat's surgery. On Saturday I had to go into the clinic to work for a tech that has health problems and Sunday I worked my normal shift at the clinic. So I'm on my 9th straight day of work with my next day off this coming Saturday. This past Sunday was horrendous. We only have one doctor in on Sundays and we ended up doing 4 euthanasias (may not sound like a lot but for a weekend-day at our small clinic, it is) and our last client left two hours after we "close." Oh and I smashed my head into a cabinet door someone left open. I have a lab report due tonight, a paper for my "fun" literature class and a huge physics exam on Wednesday for which I woefully unprepared for. I was supposed to get all that stuff done over the weekend... blergh.

Went to the walk in clinic for my eye. Told me to put hot compresses on it a couple times a day. The edge of my towel cools off pretty quickly though so it feels kind of pointless. He gave me an abx rx if the hot compresses don't work after 2-3 days. Meanwhile it's still painful and puffy and angry looking 🙁

Also, didn't get an interview for the student rep position I applied for. Sucks to find out that they're having interviews through a classmate. Really, Zoetis, not even the decency to email someone and say thanks but no thanks? 😡

Need to get my wedding invitations sent out tomorrow or Wednesday. Exam on Thursday.

👎 all around.

On the subject of medical issues...

After vomiting the last two times I have taken my vitamins, I cannot take them anymore.

I was retching every time I took them before I started vomiting.

I was going to try to take them today after narrowing down which one may be making me throw up. I immediately got a bad taste in my mouth and felt a little ill. So I settled on my liquid vitamin D first... and gagged.

It probably does not help that I've been gagging of protein powders along with the vitamins. Trainer wants me to be having it every morning. I've maybe had it 6 times in 3 months because I cannot find a flavor that does not make me gag. Pure hemp protein is the only one and tastes like dirt.

Doc wants me to take B-12 and all of this good stuff that is supposed to make me feel energized and happy and I haven't been able to take any yet in a couple of weeks.

I don't know how I am going to sweet-talk my brain out of this one.

anything you can mix them with?

tough emotional sort of day today.

Had to euthanize a dog with probable hemangiosarcoma today. He was a long time patient (had been seeing him since starting at this clinic 8 months ago) who had stopped eating. x-rays were suggestive of fluid so we tapped him to find bloody fluid there.

Had a kitty with high fever, abscess and a new FeLV infection come in. After fluids, pain meds, and antibiotics she came down the 4 degrees to normal. But she started to creep up by the time she left. I wish people would understand that we don't tell you to keep your cats inside to laugh at you dealing with an upset kitty. We do it to help them live longer.

Have you looked for any gummy vitamins? I know they are becoming more popular for adults around here. They even make gummy prenatal vitamins!

I second the gummy vitamin suggestion, though it'll probably be hard to find vegan ones. 🙁

You use the vega powders, right? (I feel like I saw that on fb awhile ago...) I was just looking into protein powders a couple days ago and saw a bunch of people raving about True Nutrition's vegan ones - you pretty much build your own powder mixture. This one also had multiple 👍s from people, and apparently it thickens up shakes because of the chia.

Oh yeah, gummy stuff tends to be made of gelatin, huh?

My brother officially fails at birthdays this year.

Ever since he started college when I was a kid (we're 12 years apart) he's always called me on my birthday, or the day after at the very latest. He didn't call this year, but I was in Canada on the actual day so I figured that was why. He didn't even wish me a happy birthday via Facebook, which is unusual. But it's not that big of a deal to me, so I let it slide.

Today was my mom's birthday, and usually my brother calls and sends her a card. This year nothing. I sent him a text two hours ago reminding him that it's her birthday and he should call her. He always has his phone on him because of work, so I am sure he must have gotten the text. But no call.

It makes me especially mad because just this morning my mom remarked that she hasn't heard from him in ages and she was looking forward to talking to him tonight. She does so much for both of us, and she's got so much on her plate right now, the very least he could do is take five minutes to wish her a happy birthday. 😡

My parents put out d-CON this winter (which I wish they wouldn't do, but that's another story) and a mouse/rat must have crawled behind the wall just after eating the bait because my bedroom now reeks of death. I've been sleeping on the couch since last Thursday and the smell is only getting worse. I can't even study in the room it's so bad. :annoyed:

I'm watching something about women "having it all" on TV and someone just called motherhood a career. Pet peeve, activated.

It's a role. It's a relationship. It's a responsibility. It's under-appreciated.

It is NOT a career or a job though. You don't get paid and you can't quit (easily anyway).

Yup.

I was told not to take multivitamins anymore and so far, I have only seen the multivitamins in gummy form.

The vitamin C and B-12 I have are flavored and not bad.

The largest one (B-complex) was likely making me vomit. Boyfriend did some research and apparently if I already have enough of a certain B vitamin in my system, it will cause nausea and vomiting. I also have to take two tyrosine and two rhodiola pills every day.

And a slight rant.. my insurance didn't cover my $250 naturopathic appointment 🙁 Luckily I started a new plan with work that might cover my last visit.

Family doctor is free and does crap all. I have to shell out $450 to feel better.

And thanks for the shake suggestion. I am to the point where I should start hounding the companies for sample packages of things.

I bought the Vega Vanilla Chai. I can almost handle it... but when you mix it with something other than water (like in juice or a smoothie), it becomes very chalky.

That's interesting. My pharmacist always told me you just pee out the extras. For B vitamins that is. Have you tried taking a lower dose?

It's still possible to overdose, it's just a lot harder to do. But I can definitely see it happening if she's taking multiple supplements that contain vitamin B, especially since most supplements of water-soluble vitamins contain WAY more than what your actual daily requirement is. For example, the Vitamin B complex I'm taking has 3,333% Daily Value of Vitamin B1. So I steer clear of other supplements and multivitamins that contain Vitamin B because I don't want to overload my system.

Trem, you might want to go through and check the % DV of vitamin B on whatever supplements you're taking and try to cut out the highest sources. Its obviously not going to help your energy levels if it's constantly making you sick. And you may want to try talking to a pharmacist - in my experience, they're a lot more knowledgeable about interactions and dosages than most family doctors.

Apologies if this has been suggested already but are you taking the multi-vitamin during a meal? That's the only way I don't feel sick taking them. I have to have a LOT of food in my belly. I've found the Target generic women's multi-vitamin to work well too... gives me much less nausea than the women's one-a-day or whatever I was taking before. As for B12, I found a chewable (!) tablet at my local health food store. The pill is the size of a birth control pill and it's cherry flavored 🙂

Last night, my family's 12 year old Dachshund, Oscar, (blind, partially deaf, and somewhat senile) wandered off my parent's property and was hit by a car. My boyfriend and I were visiting, and when we couldn't find Oscar after dinner we all got flashlights and started looking for him (they live on 10 acres and it was pitch black outside). We saw the truck stop on the road and realized what had happened. The dogs were supposed to be inside, and the main gate was left open. He probably was trying to get back to the house and got lost - and we were only minutes from catching up to him.

Thankfully, he probably never knew what hit him and died instantaneously. We were all there to carry him home and bury him. 🙁 I'm looking at the bright side - we got 12 years with the crazy little dude, and as far as HBCs go, it was the best it could have been. He was really my mom's dog, and while we will all miss him, I hope she's able to find peace with what happened.

That's very similar to the way my dog Chris died. I'm sorry for your loss and hope your mom is able to find the peace you are hoping for.

I love DST because it is lighter, later and I feel more productive. My issue is that I keep waking up super late! It throws my day off.

I use gummy vitamins. Regular ones make me incredibly nauseous. Alas, they do contain gelatin. I also like liquid gel capsule vitamins, but I have yet to find ones that don't contain Iodine (I'm supposed to avoid that because of my thyroid disease...), so I rely on the very expensive gummies when I feel the urge to take vitamins. But if taking liquid vitamins even makes you gag, not sure if any options will really work. I have to ask, the liquid D, is it a large quantity of liquid or is it the highly concentrated you only need one drop kind? Because if you're gagging from a single drop of vitamin, then it may be a hopeless case 🙁

this is about how midterms week is going 😡

Oh no, poor little doxie 🙁 Agreed, though. There are worse ways to go, he probably never knew what hit him and felt no pain.

So sorry, Brocco 🙁 I have a friend who went through a similar situation. Rest in peace little guy.

Thanks for the input on the vitamins.

I always take them right after a meal. It is almost always right after breakfast. Twice, I took them after dinner and before bed and was sick each time.

At first I thought it was the tyrosine. I told my naturopathic doctor and he said he had never heard of them making people nauseous if taken at meals. So I stopped taking them and still got sick.

The boyfriend had looked up some information on vitamins online in his spare time and found that two of the B's in the B complex can cause nausea and vomiting. I cannot remember what they are. I plan on emailing the naturopath and asking for more information and what I can do. Talking to a pharmacist is a great idea too! I'll do that.

I'll figure it all out eventually.

Daily, I am supposed to be taking B-12, C, D x 4, B complex, tyrosine x 2 and rhodiola x 2. The rhodiola is the newest one. We just switched to liquid D because having to take 4 pills was making me wretch. I stopped taking the multi as per recommended by the naturopath.

I used to be that kid who would swallow Tylenol with no water. What happened lol

B vitamins absolutely make me nauseous if I take them in large amounts (which means basically any of these super supplements nowadays). Most of those big horse pills do - they leave a terrible taste in my mouth as well. I also use the gummy vits - unfortunately they are usually low in some areas so you have to take more than one.

Trem, I would put money on that it's the Niacin that is making you sick. It will be in both the B-complex and the multi-vitamin.

I would try a niacin free B-complex.

Also, try taking the multi in the AM and the B-complex in the PM. Space them out a bit.

Last night I ate something that scratched the crap out of my soft palate. It's all red and swollen and it hurts constantly, but especially when I swallow. :annoyed:

Was it Cap'N Crunch? I love that stuff but it shreds my mouth. 👎

I feel like my first Epidemiology lecture would be much more fun if I were running on more than zero hours of sleep. 😴

 No but I had that for breakfast yesterday and it does it every time lol. No this is like a very sharp, acute paper cut on my soft palate. It hurts man.

Crappy day at work. Got in trouble for something three other people also missed. Apparently I was the one who was supposed to fix it and no one else. Did 2x the amount of work as everyone else in slightly less time and was told that I wasn't doing enough. To top it off I just walked in on my jerk coworker making fun of me.

I went to sit with my behavior dog only to find out she was put down. I wish they would have told me so I could've said goodbye.

I spent a good amount of time typing out my stats for the successful applicants stats thread, just to have my computer die right as I was about to submit it. Ugh. I guess it will have to wait for another day. 😡
