Not to be argumentative (ok, maybe just a little).... but how can you be sure it is a side effect of the birth control? Have you done a controlled double blind experiment on yourself?

No, obviously. 🙄

But considering it started on my previous brand of BC, went away when I stopped taking it, then started again when I started my current brand, I think it's safe to assume that it's the pills.

Plus it is technically a known side effect, it just seems to be happening to me rather differently than (apparently) everyone else.

My mother is taking in our family dog to be euthanized. She had a mass removed from her front leg back in November and we knew it was aggressive and would eventually come back. My mom said that it is at the point that even with pain medications Cassie can barely walk and she has lately been falling down and just wandering and getting lost in corners. 🙁

At least she will no longer be in pain.

I really want to know what the side effect is 😕

Summer shedding has started. And I feel like I just got over the fall/winter blow out. Sometimes I hate being the person that everything in their life is covered in dog hair. I swear I probably ingest a pound a year.

It really sucks when you breathe better when you're on cold drugs when you have a cold than when you're "healthy." My nose sucks. I guess I'm not healthy but it's the usual that has gone unfixed by doctors unfortunately 🙁

I feel ya - I live with 2 Labs and I swear my life revolves around dog hair 🙄

I'm sorry....never easy to lose a beloved family member. 🙁

I love driving my stick! I don't live in a huge city, but if I did it would be a pain (like being stuck on a highway with stop and go traffic....) But I love driving it! I've offered to teach many people and so far no one has taken me up on my offer...

Another die hard manual fan here. my parents have always had automatics and that's what I learned to drive on but then I got my first car which was a manual. It was really frustrating to learn to drive, but now I don't know if I will ever go back!

Sent from my HTC Glacier using SDN Mobile

well now I know who to ask to teach me!

Do wedding venues REALLY think that when I email them asking for a price, that I want their response to be, "You should come (as in fly across the country) to check out the venue in person and we can give you a price then. We know you'll love it!" ?????
Annnnd you already lost my business. Peace out! :uhno:

I had my Physics exam today, and I wanted to get a 95 to pull my 87 up to an A-. Figured I could do it. But no, my professor decided to squeeze 40 multiple choice questions into an exam that was under two hours, and these weren't the kind of multiple choice questions we'd had on previous exams either (the previous format was 8 MC and two long response...and for that we had an hour and 15 minutes). Most of them were essentially long response problems, except there's no chance for partial credit since it's multiple choice. Suffice it to say, I don't think I got that 95. At all.

So my sister is getting married the last weekend in September and myself, our other sister, and the maid of honor are trying to schedule a bachelorette party and it's not going well at all. We just cannot find a weekend that works, and I'm mostly (perhaps unfairly) blaming my youngest sister (not getting married) for it. She needs the 24th weekend of August, labor day weekend, and the 7th weekend of September off for various reasons. The maid of honor doesn't want it on the 15th weekend because its her birthday. My sister the bride doesn't want it on the 21st because she thinks it's too close to the actual wedding (the 28th) and I don't want it on August 16th weekend because I was planning to still be in Europe then.

I don't know what to do to make everyone happy! I was originally going to cut my trip short, but then the person who is traveling with me for the final leg of my trip said that they wouldn't come if the trip wasn't long enough to make it worth it for them (which is totally understandable!). So I'd either have to do that section alone and cut short, or potentially miss my sister's bachelorette party.

I'm just becoming upset because I really just want that one weekend unavailable (and the bride doesn't want it any earlier than that), for a once in a lifetime trip. I feel like that's not an unreasonable request and yet I feel like the bad guy because apparently everyone assumed (without actually talking to me about it) that that weekend was okay for everyone. Whereas my other sister has laid claim to 3 other perfectly good weekends (1 for the 3 day walk for breast cancer that she signed up for on a whim, and the other 2 for sorority obligations - which I understand to a certain extent but really? Two entire weekends??) and the maid of honor just has a birthday. Not an important birthday, her 24th. And if it were on a Wednesday she'd celebrate the weekend before or after, so why couldn't she do that this year?

Ugh. I hate stressing about crap like this when I have so many other things to stress about.

Nobody wants to room with me for the fall 🙁

I've contacted a couple people looking for roommates on my class' Facebook page, but no one has replied. Do I smell bad or something?😕

Are there no mental health resources in Edinburgh? Is it not covered by the national healthcare or are there any free services offered through the school? As an incoming student, if that is the case I am seriously concerned - I don't want to be at a place that is not supportive of mental health care.....

I hope you can get the help you need, DVMDream.

There is help. I am trying to get through this week of exams first. I know when I start getting help, things are going to get worse before they get better and I don't want to be dealing with that right now during exams. Also, what happened and what is going on is just not easy for me to talk about so it is going to take some time and patience before I am able to fully talk about the whole thing with someone.

Oy vey - spilled smoothie down the side of my pants as I was getting out of my car this morning. It also got on the carpeting of my car. Rather than go home to get new pants, I tried to clean them in the bathroom at work with water and paper towels. Now I just have a huge wet spot that I think is going to dry a pinkish color. Hopefully this afternoon I can get my car in to be detailed before the smoothie spill dries :smack:

Yeah, maybe a little

This has been floating around FB this week and I found it to be a very good read. I don't know about enough about Carrie Underwood or her view on things to determine it's accuracy. But if it's true, I'm sure this is not the first celebrity hypocrisy that has been pointed out and certainly won't be the last.

http://malthebeefgal.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/my-beef-with-carrie-underwood/

Edit: I suppose it doesn't bode well for many vegans in the country music scene. Especially those with a rural background.

Worst. Haircut. Ever. I am NEVER going back to this stylist again. This is the last straw. I've gone to her my whole life because she's my mom's cousin, and my haircuts there have never been great, but I always assumed it was because I'm often rather vague about how I want my hair cut. This time I told her exactly what I wanted, and she did none of it. Just plowed ahead with whatever she wanted to do, apparently.

My bangs look like something you'd get from a bad bowl cut. I look like a total dork. And I'm supposed to be seeing a bunch of old friends this weekend. Great. :bang:

Seriously dog, knock it the eff off! You do your potty dance by the door every 10-15 minutes, but every time we go outside, you don't potty. You play with leaves or stare at the neighbors kids outside. I know you want to be outside playing in the nice weather, but right now I have stuff to do. We have a scheduled playdate in the park in a couple hours, but until then I need to get some work done!

I don't see the supposed hypocrisy. I think it's a bit odd if Carrie calls herself a vegan and yet does Got Milk? ads but this women's argument is a little confusing.

From what I'm reading, because Carrie Underwood supposedly cares about animals she shouldn't be against the bill in TN because the bill improves animal welfare. I'm not going to "go there" with the PETA issue because I think that's been beaten to death on these boards. It is possible to care about animal welfare without loving PETA. However, if you disagree that the bill improves animal welfare, that doesn't mean you don't love animals... it just means you think it's a bad bill. It seems perfectly reasonable that she would oppose the bill as an "animal welfare advocate" (or whatever she considers herself) if she thinks it's a bad bill - which many do. I guess the author is upset because Carrie Underwood grew up on a farm and yet now has switched sides? Since the author is a "beef ambassador" I guess it's not surprising that she's upset. But people change. And yes, even vegans listen to country music.

Seriously, it's like the person writing the blog doesn't acknowledge that people's views can change. Obviously she did the got milk? gig before she went vegan. And before she was vegan, she was raised on a farm and ate meat. Pretty much no one is born eating vegan... I'm not a PETA fan but this blog would fail arguments 101.

I think the main reason the author is upset is because Carrie's trying to please everyone by doing everything. At least that's my take on it. The author has painted the FFA and PETA on completely different sides with Carrie trying to cater to both. I would consider the Got Milk ads to be hypocritical unless she switched to vegan afterwards (completely possible). It's less obvious than if she were in a Burger King ad chowing down on a Whopper, but it's the same principle. I don't know enough about the bill, so I'm not going to comment on that part of the article. However I agree that apposing the bill does not mean she doesn't care about animals.

Also, I perhaps didn't clarify enough regarding country music listeners (I realize anyone can be a country fan, that's not what I meant). I was referring to country artists. Assuming the large base of support for this genre comes from agricultural/rural areas.

Well, the source isn't exactly unbiased

But I imagine she went vegan after growing up on a cattle ranch and doing the got milk campaign. It irks me that the author seems to assume that no one's view points can change - perhaps Carrie Underwood (having grown up in the industry) is making a more informed decision about veganism than some of her omnivorous fans. The whole "she grew up in it, how could she possibly disagree with it?!" thing is a really poor argument.

Good point re: her fans, but I assume that not all of them know she's a vegan. I personally don't keep tabs on celebrities preferences

Can't say I do either, but can't resist the stories that have been blown up all over social media. The only thing I remember popping up was this silly rumor that Toby Keith and/or Keith Urban are anti-Canadian. 🙄 People around here really ran with it. I think it was around the time that the Canadian govt stated they weren't supporting the war on Iraq or something. Anyways, the troll that started the whole thing was mighty successful.

My grandma would always buy People magazine (or something similar) and would pass it to my mom to read which I would then read when I was younger. Definitely worth a chuckle or two.

We have so many issues at work right now and they are trying to grow the business. It's really infuriating since things won't have a chance to become better if they push it like this. They want to hire another doctor. One doctor that's here is already trying to take all the pets so he can make all the money. Let's push him further!

I have to read a book. I do not want to read this book. Why? Because this book is extremely poorly written. Not in the "fanfiction" kind of way, or the "third-tier science journal" kind of way, but in the "what is even going on, you keep repeating yourself and your paragraphs don't go together and I CAN'T EVEN TELL WHAT THIS IS ABOUT" kind of way.

And the book is over 400 pages and I have to have read it (and be able to teach someone about it) by Tuesday night. Oh good.

Family relationships at work are destroying everyone's moral, including mine.

Extremely poor work ethic and carelessness is being overlooked, and those who actually care about the animals are getting walked all over.

I am at my wits end. I love my job, but not right now. The section in the employee handbook was actually changed last week to accommodate the fact that a member of management's close family works there.

I took a nasty fall at work on tuesday (dog rammed itself right into my knees full speed) and i went to get xrays today. Twisting me up for the xrays have me even more sore now. Im on restricted activity at work now, and I just feel useless. 🙁 I dont even want to go because I feel like I am forced to be lazy and then sit and watch while others are forced to pick up my slack. I pride myself on my work ethic and sitting around emotionally stresses me. 🙁

I feel your pain. I went to a woman for a long time because she was nice and my sister went to her. One day, BAM! Mullet! That's right. I had a mullet, as a female adult. I also have red hair, just to pain the picture a little better. This was about 4 years ago.

My best advice is to learn the best way to put your hair up to hide the haircut. For my mullet, a ponytail pretty much just exaggerated my short-bowl-cut front. I ended up using a lot of bobby pins and headbands.

My boyfriend at the time never said he hated it, but never said he liked it. Years later, I talked about the mullet and he sighed with relief and let it all out  What a trooper.

This will definitely be me. My mom didn't get her license until she was 23, but that was because she was living in Philly (didn't really need a car) and was bicycle racing during the time when people would usually have been getting their licenses.
I'm just terrified of driving. 😳
I completely understand that because I felt the same way. It just got to a point that I HAD to get my license to be able to do what I needed to do. Just take your time, learn from a professional if it's hard to stay calm with a friend or family member, and remember that it's really not that scary. Yes, the other drivers can be idiotic but as long as you're observant it won't be an issue.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually 😳 Thanks 😀

I'm sorry, but your description made me lol. Your boyfriend seems like a definite keeper though. 😀

I've definitely had my fair share of bad haircuts. When I had bangs they would always get cut all wrong - which is why I don't have them anymore.

I always had problems with bangs too!!! Unless the stylist had bangs. Then they knew what they were doing usually. Honestly, I quit having hairdressers do them and kept them trimmed myself a while ago. If I was changing styles then I would have a professional do it but maintenance is on me.

If I can trim manes and bang tails then why not my bangs?

Noooooooooooooooo! I made that mistake once. I will never ever ever attempt to trim my own bangs again. :scared:

I used to have really long hair with a goatee and looked like Jesus. I just got to that point where I could comfortably tie it up into a ponytail and then...interviews. I once again look nothing like my driver's licence photo; the look on the TSA's faces during airport security checks was amusing

Sorry to hear you didn't have a successful go at it. 👎 My hair is really fine so that probably makes it easier for me.

and suddenly I remember that there are men on this forum, too.

I read this like 3 times and then was like "why would her hair look like a goatee?"

😴 I think it's time for bed.

Do we have another male in our midst?! Welcome sir! Your kind is rare around these parts. 😀 (so if someone says 'she', it's not a reflection on you...😉)
