As if it wasn't already hard enough to find anyone who would ship to Canada in the first place, now Canada Post appears to have gone and lost it.

Shall I remind you about a certain bird cage shipping fiasco? 😛 and that was within Canada. I would call and raise some hell!
 
The way that work responded to me being out for appendicitis was straight up ridiculous.

And now I'm having another surgical procedure in Dec and I'm worried how they will react (even though they were forewarned)
 
The past week or so has been full of bad days. Everything I touch turns to crap and I am so far out of my element on the current rotation its not even funny. When I found out yesterday that I get the whole holiday weekend off, my immediate thought was to find a state park cabin in the woods in the middle of nowhere and hang out by a fireplace for a few days and do some hiking with the dogs.

Spent half of today calling around trying to find a place. Every. Single. Cabin. within three hours of here is booked for the weekend. Why are there so many other people trying to escape?!? I really had my heart set on getting away for a bit.

I've got a few places to call tomorrow and see if I can get something last minute, but they're all closer to four hours away. I don't know what I'm going to do if I cant find a place to hide.

I know its stupid and petty but I really need a break. Really really need a break. I'm emotionally drained. I'll probably end up hiking either way, but dammit, I wanted to get out of town for a few nights.
 
I wish human doctors were as compassionate as the veterinarians I have dealt with.

I had an appointment with a new doctor on Monday.

First, she questioned why I made appointment (when I called and asked if she could take me on as a patient, I was told I had to make an appointment first... so I did)
Then she demanded to know why I needed a family doctor here when I had one an hour away. "I know people who drive from your town to see a doctor here!" I have no transportation and my doctor is an idiot.
She belittled me for seeing a naturopath. Said it was a waste of money and she wouldn't agree with anything he said.
She gave me a lecture on self-diagnosing myself on the internet when I told her what my naturopath suspected I had (she had never heard of mthfr, so it must not be real)
She's anti-vegetarian and anti-supplement.
She ranted about diet and exercise. I don't even eat close to the standard North American diet and I strength train 4x a week.

I tried to tell it to her straight: I told her about my symptoms, what I have been tested for, why I started seeing a naturopath and why I wanted a new doctor. I told her that I was very open-minded to what she had to say. I just want to feel better.

As soon as I had heard that I had needed to make an appointment, I thought it was going to be a routine thing... that she'd ask about my family history, take my weight and BP... stuff like that. None of that occured. Just lecturing.

It's a good thing I dragged my boyfriend in there with me. I get fuzzy headed and I thought he could tell her things that I forget to mention. He ended up doing most of the talking. Her tone of voice made me pretty anxious and I just drew a blank whenever she asked me something or lectured me. I need to get over that. I've had too many bad experiences with MDs since I started not feeling well. I dread going.

On the plus side, she has ordered me bloodwork to get to the bottom of what's going on. My old MD couldn't even do that properly.
 
holy hell i am SO unimpressed by my anesthesiology professor's accupuncture lecture (which I skipped and am watching a couple weeks later). He just taught chi like it was some established scientific fact. wooow.

CBC (mild lymphopenia)
Chem panel (slight hypocalcemia, slight hyperglycemia, slightly low proteins.... rest normal)
Coagulation panel: normal (verifying she didn't eat any rodenticide).
Abdominal Ultrasound : both liver and gall bladder were hyperechoic, and also the urinary bladder slightly.
They conclude that these are probably secondary inflammatory responses and given normal chemistry not indicative of cholangiohepatitis.

Send her home with prilosec, carafate, metronidazole, and cerenia.

Hard to say. She is eating and holding it down, so that's a plus. She is alert but not not energetic (I mean, she's an IG so she sleeps most of the time anyway).

It's whats coming out the other end that is worrying now.

I have to say I am not even sure what to think about all this.
 
I know she's an adult bla bla but have they tested for parvo? or done a fecal?
 
SOV... Hope your pup feels better.

As for me, think I've had one of the worst weeks of my life, which really pisses me off because I LOVE Thanksgiving!

I had nightmares reliving a horrible thing of the past, the very scary gas tank spill, and now my best friend has suddenly ended our friendship over something out of my control. I feel like my heart has been ripped from my chest.

Amen to that. Lets hope 2014 is our year.

Ended back at ES as my dog was having some kind of allergic response. Doc thinks it was a bug bite. Really? What next. On the plus side....no hematochezia today. And she seems a bit better....
 
201 pages on petfinder, 3013 canine faces and this dog is no where to be found on the web. i want to know who she is! she was posted on a local rescue page last weekend and after chatting about her all weekend with them about potentially adopting her, they emailed me monday morning saying that a mistake was made and the dog they received from the shelter over the weekend wasnt the dog in the picture but they'd look into it. long story short, they didnt and made up a bunch of excuses. i have no idea what shelter it was or anything else other than its in WV. disappointed yet again. this whole new dog search is going very poorly so far :-/

They look like the same dog to me. It looks like the dog has her head tilted up in the first picture making her floppy ear look erect. The marking is the same on the face from what I can see. The first picture is better lit and makes her look better though.

Edit: maybe not better lit but she definitely looks cuter in the first picture.
 
I thought I was the only one who thought it was the same dog...and I didn't want to bring it up. I'm a coward.
 
I concur with everyone.

In both pictures there is a large black patch on the lateral aspect of the proximal antebrachium.

Sorry 😀 I have an anatomy final Monday.

But really, same markings around the right eye as well. Same dog.

are you trying to tell me that in my one post with 2 pictures, those are the same dog?? because they're not (different colored eyes, not to mention the white stripe?).

are you trying to say that i posted the same dog twice? i did and i know 🙂

or

are you trying to say the 2nd dog i posted is the same one in TTs link? because thats true 🙂 that's just not the dog that i;m trying to figure out. [the rescue group initially posted the wrong picture so the 2 dogs are associated with the same name and bio]


ETA - did some looking into what you see me posting and in a different web browser, its indeed showing the same dog but my normal browser has be believing something completely different!:clown:

Can confirm. No white stripe on the face in either picture posted earlier. Same pup.

wow thats really weird - i wonder if i'm getting different images? on my screen they are clearly 2 different dogs. the first has a large white stripe down the forehead that wraps around the rostral muzzle, a large black patch of fur around the right eye, and then has heterochromia with a big blue spot in the right eye. the other has a merled grey/brown/black muzzle with no white and two brown eyes.

ETA - just opened the page in a different browser and it shows them as the same dog in all 3 pictures. WEIRD!!! it's definitely 2 different dogs on my browser page! (chrome) i'm sorry you can't see the (cuter) other dog - and i swear i'm not as stupid/blind/idiotic as you must think i am!!

they are when i open everything in firefox. when i open the thread in chrome, its 2 different dogs.

to make things even stranger, if i go to the petfinder page on chrome, the 2 different dog thing still exists under "esme" but if i load it on firefox, its all one dog. the internet is clearly trying to send me on a mental holiday.

I'm on Chrome and seeing the same dog in both pictures...weird.

Sorry, I just "liked", then immediatley "unliked" this because I meant to hit reply instead. Sorry if you get negative SDN points for being "unliked".

That whole thing is so weird.....mystery internet happenings. Is SGU in the Bermuda Triangle?
 
The weirdest thing is that the link TT posted is from my home town... :O small world.

I came here to rant about my neck still hurting, my friend being cranky at me, needing to send my resume to someone for a letter of rec for a rotation, being terrified for my neuro exam on Monday and desperately needing to clean my house. Sigh.
 
So ready to be done with these feckin' crutches!!! 😡 12 weeks is FAR too long! They get in the way of everything.
