My landlords have lilies as the main flower on our property, literally right up next to the house. They should be fine.
Last August I diagnosed baby doctor's first Addisonian dog and she's been a TRIP to get regulated on DOCP but after 10 months of dose-reducing her DOCP and twice-monthly electrolytes checks we FINALLY got her dose figured out (0.36 mg/kg when the label dose is 2.2mg/kg!) and she came in today for what was supposed to be her first regular monthly dose but the staff gave her 0.36 mL instead of 0.36 mg/kg which equates to 5.5x her dose. 
All that despite there being an all caps patient alert that says not to give the dose without checking w/ me first because it was done incorrectly once last fall when the staff didn't verify. This shouldn't be a problem moving forward because her dose shouldn't be changing BUT I had to call the owner and tell them about the F up after excitedly letting them know we don't have to do the constant lytes checks etc anymore last week. Dechra is having me check her lytes every 3 days now until normal again. Fortunately the dose she got was still less than 2.2 mg/kg (barely) so I don't think she will have any negative effects but man, what a F up. I was fully expecting the owners to be pissed but fortunately they were kind; Idk if I'd keep my own dog at an office that gave the wrong dose TWICE. Glad it wasn't a different medication.
I humbly took the fall for the first mistake because I could have communicated the plan better, but since then I've really been over-communicating about the plan for her each time so I just spent the whole day lowkey fuming.

If it makes you feel any better I 10x ODd a dog my first year of residency and they didn’t get any electrolyte abnormalities at all. We went $25k over on lumber because COVID and then the electrical stuff was over too due to the cost of wire. We got some back here and there, but mostly it just came out in the wash. We do sometimes wish we had just done this or that while building and we have to remind ourselves that we didn't have the extra money at the time. It just adds on to the loan... which sucks but it's not that much extra per month and then you can save a bit and pay down a chunk if you want to, even just enough to get rid of PMI.
In short - it happens, but it should be okay. Just keep on keepin' on.
Thanks for the extra perspective! I do have plenty in savings set aside for overages so I know it’ll be fine. I planned for overages since everyone said it’s inevitable. And I’ll have some equity in my current house once I sell that, which should help purchase those new house ‘necessities’…maybe even pay for a tractor and a barn if we don’t blow the budget on what’s remaining. Absolute worst case I can take a 401k loan but I highly doubt we’d need to go that far. But it all adds up so fast.
So far we’ve been very happy with the contractor’s subs and quality of the work, which is good.
Woke up with a gnarly cold. I used to never get sick, but within the last 5 years if someone even breathes wrong around me I get sick. I have no idea what happened to my immune system 🙁
Makes me worried for school cause I hate when other people come to work sick, but like in school I feel you can’t really skip class especially labs. Guess I’ll just keep masks on hand just in case but maaaan 😩

The only thing I can think of is if the pollen blew onto a window screen and you have a weirdo cat that might lick that if the window was open. Otherwise I've also had lilies outside my house/at nearby neighbors' houses and never had an issue

I got sick my first week of vet school 😭😭 fortunately we had a lot of non-mandatory/recorded classes but I masked for the required attendance courses. i felt like a puppy missing my socialization period lol
Yeah I don't expect anything bad to happen (despite Dechra's alarmist monitoring recommendations) because she HAD a 2.2 mg/kg dose last year when we first started titrating, so it's not even really an overdose perse, but it's the principle of how badly it got FUBAR'd despite the alert on the account and after spending 10 months titrating and finally reaching HER dose. Life for the owners was supposed to get a lot easier. Plus how I would approach discussing this kind of error with an owner would be something like "here's what happened/here's what I'm going to do to make sure it doesn't happen again" which is hard to do a second time!!!
I started vet school in 2020 and wore a mask almost every day the entire 4 years. I only stopped in my 4th year barn rotations. Didn't get sick once until March of 2024. I imagine being sick in vet school would suck butt, I'd def have one handy in lecture halls at least for cold/flu season.
I’ve already told some people on here, but unfortunately my internship is breaking almost all of its promises and what is listed on VIRMP. I don’t want to get to into the weeds on a public forum but it essentially comes down to management not wanting to pay ER doctors and trying to over-schedule interns amongst many other things. This program has somehow done a 180 since last year. I’ve already asked for what was promised to us, and many of the specialists were unaware said person in management went around them to do this. So either things are going to change or I’m going to leave the program. It’s been a really difficult week. Three weeks if I’m being honest.
I hope the staff members will rally around you to get it fixed. It’s amazing how fast a program can change. If it turns out leaving is best, I hope you find an amazing alternative that keeps their promises.

They really already have which I didn’t expect, but is nice. They were very upset because they gave input on how the program would be structured and it was completely changed behind their back. I hope they can pressure the management to fix things but I’m staying cautiously optimistic.

But also I think you've seen my posts complaining about how they treated the ER doctors from 2019-2022 when I was there so I'm not entirely surprised on that front. I had heard it got way better but I'm sorry they are fumbling again.

I get sick a lot (for every exam...) and just keep boxes of masks in my apartment. It's kind of surprising how many of my classmates come to school all snotty and coughing without masking since we are, y'know, student doctors. So it probably wouldn't hurt to mask during anatomy lab when you're really close to each other and during cold and flu season when everyone starts hacking up a storm.
It's the worst. Trying to sit and study while your brain is mush is just... terrible lol. There's only been 1 exam I didn't get sick for so far (and Illinois has the massive exams so it's really not ideal) and my performance was INSANELY better. It's really annoying lol

My hot take as a chronically ill person AND someone who gets illnesses chronically is that American society does not put health first in so many ways, including putting healthy people at risk by being so strict on what counts for a sick day. I have a friend who I literally have to browbeat into going home when she’s sick because “I’m just going to be behind later if I don’t suffer through it now”. Cool! I don’t want to get whatever crud you have and deal with it too! Go the **** home! And I get it, I had norovirus four weeks into the semester with three exams that week. I spent basically the first half of the semester trying to dig myself out of the work I was behind on. I’ve had professors who were inflexible on assignments for documented illnesses. Hell, I watch doctors routinely work while sick which is insane to me because if you are making life and death decisions I would like your brain to be fully there.
Don’t go to school while sick. Don’t go to work while sick. You’re (royal you) putting your classmates, your patients, your clients, and your coworkers at risk. Everyone else would rather cover the temporary slack than prolong the short handedness because people are dropping like flies from a preventable illness.
I clearly have feelings about this as someone who lived with an immunocompromised person my whole life and then became immunocompromised myself lol

One of the final straws for me quitting zoos is when I came back from a trip with Covid (zero symptoms, but a friend on the trip had it so I tested to be safe) they forced me to stay home beyond the current CDC guidance at the time, and since I had just come back from vacation I had zero pto left. And they were just like lol sucks

I got a few extra milk storage bottles for pumping at work during Prime days - used one for the first time today. It's too tall to stand upright in my mini fridge, cool nbd I'll put it on its side. Well, when I went to open my fridge the next time, I got the lovely surprise of finding that the bottle leaked my entire pump (which is one feed's worth). It was everywhere. If it weren't for my new Lexapro script being on board I'm pretty sure I would have crumpled into a useless heap on the floor. Had my husband test the other bottles from the box and another one leaked too so GOODBYE FOREVER. These bottles had good reviews that specifically mentioned they didn't leak.

• i am getting a cover up behind my ear. i have a poorly faded evil eye and i dont love it (my mom says it looks like ringworm ew). instead of leaving it, i’m getting a canine tooth to cover it up.
• on my leg, i decided to get lots of oddities and funky tattoos. right now i have a very lonely mouse skeleton, so a bunny (or bnnuy lol) is the next addition!!

I literally had one call about wedding planning with my mom and it stressed me tf out and I dont want to deal with that during vet school, so I think we're just going to elope/ have a nice courthouse day. Still very excited but I'm just not an event planner....
You do what’s best for YOU (and your fiancé) and not what everyone else thinks! You can still have a nice elopement or courthouse day and lunch/dinner out afterwards with special people if you feel the need to share the day with others
My grandma still brings it up years later. Still no regrets for me.
It really is incredible how personally people take things when it comes to weddings and babies, it's almost as if they forget that it isn't about them or something
It's kinda the old person thing where they feel things go a certain way. Like, we have string lights in our basement for light. My grandma and I have a bet that my husband doesn't know about: Husband Bats will someday take down the lights because they're not "adult" enough. She thinks he will, I think he won't. We have this bet until she dies.
Spoiler alert: my 34 year old husband has a lot of millennial middle forgotten emo child angst. Those lights are never coming down.
Hated wedding plannign so much we downsized for a micro wedding on the beach and it was perfect. If we want that big wedding feeling we'll renew our vows at 5 or 10 years. You can do a smaller wedding now and save the big celebration for after school!
my grandparents and my entire immediate family all live in greece. both my grandparents have some form of cancer and now one of my uncles does as well. my partner and i know an engagement is on the horizon for us, and we would love to just go elope somewhere in the rockies and have a small dinner with close friends and family to celebrate. but! majority of my family cannot travel to the US because they’re sick and older. it’s pretty traditional and almost expected for me to have a full blown greek orthodox wedding, but it is just too damn expensive and not what i want.
i feel guilty about having to pick and choose who to invite for a small ceremony. because if we do it in greece, our friends and family here in the US may not be able to attend because flights are so damn expensive. and if we do a small ceremony in the US, then my entire family in greece just gets left out because none of them can travel either.
weddings are great, but they suck 😭😭😭😭
Do both! Do a small wedding here and a family wedding / jumping off for the honeymoon trip in Greece!

I tricked my in-laws into thinking our small wedding (~10 people total, basically no planning at all) would be followed by a larger ceremony that we would do after I finished vet school.
Almost 9 years post-wedding and 6 years post-vet school and I still have no plans to do a larger ceremony and never will

Full send on courthouse wedding! (it'll be a year for me and my husband in July). My family still holds a weird grudge that we didn't make it some kind of elaborate event but the amount of time, money, and stress we saved is so worth it. No regrets.
Ours are sad we didn’t do a big wedding. I still want to in the future. But honestly my in-laws decided to get married (because of my spouse oopsie lol) and went from dating to married in two weeks. They got married on a random person’s property near a pond. So I don’t want to hear it.
that's what we're thinking! we need to plan the financial logistics of it all haha. we were thinking, small elopement just us in the mountains/courthouse, followed by dinner with US-based friends and family. then next summer, we do the whole "poofy wedding dress, rice throwing, halo-exchanging" greek wedding with 30-40 people maximum in greece either in the mountains again or by the water.
i'm just not religious at all and dont love the idea of getting married in a church, but greek orthodox churches are so beautiful, and at this point i just view it more as a cultural thing than a religious thing.
as fool proof as i can make this plan....idk how much it would cost to do both. i'm already not good with sticking to a budget lol!

ETA: Also I had a big wedding against my wishes (and judgment...) and it was just so stressful. Both sides of our family are insane and it the drama and tantrums that were thrown from both sides were just awful. If you don't want a big wedding, don't do it.

Also my suggestion. There are elopement companies that do micro weddings in the mountains. In Colorado, you can also just go to the DMV to do the license part, and then throw a party at a place y'all would like to have dinner at!!

as I daydream about it, I’m enjoying the tiny elopement idea better— I can still get the dress I want (it’s not like a ballgown) and we can just go to the state park near our house with a justice of the peace. We’ll see how my mom feels about this but I’ve got no grandparents left to complain about it and half my cousins didn’t even come to my brother’s wedding a year ago (my brother is also like… weirdly against me getting married? I’m 24 now which he thinks is too young but also he’s kinda like gatekeeping marriage).
My parents were 19 and 22. 35 years married. My grandparents were 19 and 25. 57 years married.
Questionable choices? Maybe. Especially for grandma since grandpa had already been married 2 times. 😅. The right decision? Yes.

If you *want* you can also have a friend/family member get ordained online and perform the ceremony

Eloped during 2020 and have no regrets 6 years later. It was lovely and peaceful. That being said I never cared about a dress, wedding day traditions etc. Do what is best for you and your other half! Congrats
My sister planned to have a distant relative who is a judge do her ceremony, but they got sick just two days before the wedding. Cue a mad scramble and my cousin got ordained by the Universal Life Church or something in order to be able to do the wedding.
