I will do my first cystotomy on Wednesday. The owners brought the dog in today and it had been previously diagnosed with uroliths. The owners were upset because x-rays weren't done and the diagnosis was on palpation alone. They have tried the food and weren't getting better. they came in because she was blocked this morning. She was in the hospital today and urinated for me and passed a stone about 1 cm in diameter. I explained everything to them and told them why we needed x-rays and they agreed. We talked through the stone that is 1/3 the size of the dog's bladder, they were approved for care credit and we proceed Weds unless they have an issue and need to come in early. I explained I had never done the surgery before. They hate Dr. B (their original doctor) so much that they would rather have someone who has never done a cystotomy before perform the surgery over her. I managed to procure someone to do it with me. They are also going to be following me to the new practice.

The place I am transferring to told me they have an official start date of 9/1/12 - so I get to claim mileage until then. And they asked me if I wanted any say in the schedule. Such a difference already!

Wow - awesome to all of that. Good for you Dyachei! You will do great on Wednesday, have fun! 😀

A successful day shopping has made me feel better about the ex being a jerk. A little bummed I spent money I probably shouldn't have been spending, but i got a dress or two that might make him a bit jealous. 😀

That makes my urethra hurt just thinking about it :scared::scared:.

And thanks for all the compliments 😀. It's making me feel better about wanting to pull out all my newly dyed hair because of trying to do flipping C++ programming. GAH!

Love the new hair!

But, uh, why are you doing C++?!?

Well... I can use it for a requirement for my major. They hold it online over the summer and it's only a 5 week class, so I figured, why not. But jesus is this freaking frustrating... It makes me feel like I'm a total *****.
I'm going to have to buy my TA a box of chocolates or something. This guy has spent the last 4 hours emailing me back and forth. 13 emails later and I still can't figure out this one problem...

HUBBY JUST GOT A CALL FOR AN INTERVIEW!!! :highfive: :soexcited: :soexcited: :soexcited:    :claps: :biglove:
It's for a high school English teacher. Interviews are Thursday morning. He's been hoping to be able to get a job here. That would make our live so much easier. I'm so super duper excited. I knew he could do it. He's still waiting on getting certified here in NC, but he is in AZ and he just needs his transcripts to apply!

HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!! That is sooooo great! I will definitely send all my thoughts your way :xf::xf::xf:
GO HUBS! :soexcited:

Thanks. He had a call about 3 weeks ago, but they wanted him certified in English and history. They never called back to set up an interview time. 🙁 This happens to be a magnet school too which could be awesome for his career if...he rocks the interview (which he probably will because people usually love him :xf::xf:) and then gets the job and does well.

So the basket that I raved about on Friday from my co-workers had a $200 Publix gift card in it (I just finally opened it) 😱😱😱 with another $100 worth of food in it! I never expected that at all! Holy crap! 😱

Yay for being able to eat in vet school!

Sorry to double post, but I forgot to mention he only sent in the applications (via email) over the weekend!

And I posted the news on here before texting my family or saying anything on facebook.

Right?! 😱 They said it was to postpone my ramen noodle eating for as long as possible 😀

Eat ramen noodles for 4 years or go into debt trying to eat.

Good luck, MrsOrcaGirl! :luck: :luck: :luck:

(both the interview and later dealing with high schoolers..)

Thanks so much. He prefers middle school, but he's qualified to teach both and applied to both so hopefully he'll end up with a job.

Just paid off my car loan!!! :soexcited: 😀😀😀

I'm excited for you. I can't wait for that day to come.

Speaking of.... is anyone else freaking out about paying for their car since we only get a limited amount of funds? I know I am! 😕

I'm worried about this next month before financial aid kicks in. If Mr. Orcagirl ends up with a job then I won't be too much. I made sure to take out money to cover rent, so he can hopefully take care of the other things.

ahhh today was my first day of a 2 week externship with a neurologist at a specialty practice and I didn't think I would like the private specialty route but today was really cool! The doctor I'm glued to for my time here is awesome - he has a great rapport with the clients, manages to be totally honest and down to earth with them even though he is a flipping genius and is making me feel super included and welcome, asking me for my opinion and including me in discussions about diagnosis and treatment and even grilling me sometimes (which I actually really like, I feel like I learn really well that way).

it's making me feel more comfortable that if I consider doing an internship after vet school, it won't be total hell for me to be in private vs academic for a year (which I may have to do because of my unwillingness to compromise things like hockey to get perfect scores on exams).

edit: I didn't even feel like I was run over by a truck after 11.5 hours of nonstop action when I only slept maybe 4 hours last night.

I am wide awake and have been since 5 this morning. I am actually early for stuff.

Two raves:

1. I am getting my learner's permit on Friday. For the third time. I should have no problem passing. Which means I can drive! And then get my fulls!

2. I am going on vacation on Saturday with the boyfriend. This is my first vacation with someone I am dating. We are spending the week on the best island in continental North America (seriously, it was voted that last summer). I spent a lot of time there over my life. I cannot wait to visit with friends and show the boyfriend why I love the place so much.

Today I got my driver's license in NC, got my dog licensed (that was a pain), changed my name at the school, and I feel like I did more but maybe not.
