My friend got tickets to a Celtic Thunder concert last night (her parents co-sponsored the show) and invited me and another friend (for our other friend's birthday). It was AMAZING! 😀 😀

is happy for you!! 😀

You know of course you are going to get 100 "I told you so"s from us.

Congrats. Nice to know there is still some sanity left in the world.

Yeah I thought it was that simple too, but my time spent in NY really effed me and I was really scared to be honest. But thank you thank you thank you to everyone who listened to my problems and helped me through it. Your support helped more than you know. 😀

clinical pathology lab was so cool today!! some days i feel like he stands there and makes up various conditions and blood cell shapes just to make our lives more miserable, but today I actually got to visualize leptocytes, ecinocytes, hypochromasic RBCs, and schistocytes! put that together with a leukopenia and an island endemic for E. canis, and you have the clin path version of an Ehrlichia diagnosis! how cool! someone also had heartworms so we got to look at that above the buffy coat as well! 😀

Thanks y'all. I literally feel 20 lbs lighter from the stress being lifted. It's amazing how much stress you can carry around, and not realize how it's physically affecting you until it's gone 🙂. I was really starting to think my job in NY was gonna be the death of me. My case wasn't as cut and dry as "I've lived in FL for 26 years" due to my time in NY so I was a little worried about it. But I am sooooooooo effing happy and appreciate of all of you! Thanks again!

YYYYAAAAAAYY!!!! My money FINALLY came in this morning AND I was able to get my football ticket since my account has no holds anymore. :zip:

I got a touchscreen smartphone today!! :soexcited:

It's Net10 tracphone thingy, but it's touchscreen and unlimited talk/text/data!! I've had a Motorola Razr flipphone for the past 5 years, so this is all new territory for me. I feel like I'm finally getting with the times. 😀

Now, I can check in on WW games on break at work(once we get wifi that is, phone is wifi), and at the bar. 😎

Course, not the reason I got the phone, but still a good excuse. 😛

I believe this is an excellent time to reinstate the kickline of joy. Way to go!

My nephew is going to be born tomorrow! I'm so excited. I won't get to see him until this weekend, though. Stupid school getting in the way.

Oh, congrats! Being an aunt rocks!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. My niece is one of the greatest gifts my sister has ever given me. I LOVE that kid and she loves me right back. Even though still can't pronounce my name - she just points and calls me 'aunt'. 😍

It's perfect fall weather right now and I love it.
Sitting on the bf's porch typing up biochem notes in a hoodie.
Only thing missing is a cup of hot chocolate or hot apple cider.

Six and a half years in Southern Cali has made me miss seasons a bit. But I realized it was more the things we do to mark the seasons I missed rather than the actual weather. Now that I have someone to bake xmas cookies with, others to do halloween with etc, it isn't nearly as bad.

Do they have Halloween in Grenada?

It's still nice warmish weather where I am, and I'm appreciating it after a chilly Irish summer. 😀 Fall weather is going to be lovely, though. And there's supposed to be a lot of snow this winter! I love seasons. 🙂

It's pretty warm here in Philly during the day (mid to low 70s) but it's nice and cool at night.
Sweatshirt weather is my favorite. I'm kind of a sweaty person, so when I get to be able to wear pants and nice, comfy sweatshirts, it makes me so happy since I get to be comfortable and not feel gross.

Only thing ruining it is the fact that I'm "studying" biochem right now...

After seven rather miserable seasons of pretty mediocre baseball (including a couple seasons of 100+ losses), it is SO EXCITING to have a home team that will be playing in the post-season.

C'mon October!

I want to get out of Southern California and experience some real weather!! Last weekend it was an obscene 105ish in San Diego ... Now we've cooled down a little to 85ish ... I'm dying for some cool weather!!

Y'all in true Fall weather are making me jealous 🙁

You had better believe the students celebrate Halloween here! It's quite the affair with parties and costumes and the like! It is not a local holiday though, so don't expect to see the locals decorating and making the stores all orange haha

Christmas decorations and music start around the end of October. Its a VERY big holiday for them (very religious little island) and I guess it's alright since their October Thanksgiving is a somber day of remembrance rather than an indulgent one like the US, and after that there are no holidays until Christmas. Don't worry though, the vet school celebrates US Thanksgiving in proper fashion! It's probably the best way to eat on Thanksgiving honestly!!

The other national holidays here are independence day (Feb) and May day and I think we had a 3rd day off last spring but I can't remember what it was. There is Carnival of course, but that's not during the semester 😉

also, i think lack of seasons makes the time go faster here. it all blends together as a same constant making me less likely to long to be home for the various holidays. especially at the end of the semester when its christmas time and you're like "nawwww its not december, its still sunny and 85 out!"

 Santa Barbara is apparently more like Grenada than like San Diego - just 20 degrees cooler. We're 65 degrees almost year round.

Heck yeah! Free place to stay chickadee! Lol
Last year we drove through the big snowfall. Got trapped on the pass on hwy 50 with like 200 other cars while they blasted for avalanche. By the time we reached the condo in Stateline I was an icicle.

But damn if it wasn't awesome powder.

fromthebox, you're in Santa Barbara? I lived there! We always said that SB has four seasons, just instead of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, SB has Sun, Flood, Fire, and Fog - in no particular order.

I just moved to Davis, and I've yet to see a change in weather. It seems to be hot days, cool nights, and no rain or humitidy ever. We'll see what the winter brings...

Reminds me of the Minnesota joke: instead of seasons we have Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter and Road Construction

I'm :xf: that we avoid another bad fire season. I was given a citation (award) for remaining on duty 24 hours straight during the Jesusita fire. My house was evacuated, not like I had anywhere else to be but at work.

I just wish SB had real thunderstorms. Now that'd be a rave.

My niece had this phase where she was calling everyone die. She started with my younger sister... She was sitting on her back and then she started patting her head and repeatedly saying, "Die, die, die, die." From that point on, everyone was "Die". It was really cute, kind of creepy, but really cute. 🙂

I miss AZ weather... It is getting so incredibly cold here and then it rains too.... Yesterday it was raining like crazy... I went to take my trash out to the dumpster that is literally a 20 second walk from my flat and I figured that there was no point to grab an umbrella because really how wet can you get in a minute... apparently it was raining much harder than I had thought because I was soaked. It has been in the 50's, it is currently in the high 40's... I am freezing, my AZ body forgot what I was like to live somewhere cold.

Oh the weather outside is frightful! :scared:

but yes..... when I first moved to Dublin it was weather shock and I still get ridiculously cold here.... and the weather is mild compared to many places..... it does not get very cold in the winter maybe 30s at the lowest, but never gets uber warm either we got lucky to get a few 70s days here this summer.... and it very rarely pisses rain here, but we do get rain for sure - just not as much as the UK thank dog......

Oh but it takes some getting used to for sure.... especially when you are from a nice warm weather climate

 Just as long as they don't get snow storms that dump 3-4 feet of snow, I am ok. Other than the fact that I am freezing, I feel like my toes have frost bite and I am inside with warm socks on and the heater running...

What I would do for warm socks and the heater right now ...

The UK usually doesn't get a ton of snow. They've been getting a good bit the past couple years though, but I don't think it's ever been several feet in one go. I had friends trapped in various London airports last year. When I came back in January, it apparently had just snowed (maybe like 4 inches or something like that) and apparently that was a lot for them and they were out of salt because they'd had a lot of snow that winter so my cab driver was complaining. It was a little scary landing on a snowy runway in a tiny plane though.

The bf made me dinner, cleaned the house and now we're playing a game.

😍
