I am very, very glad I've been doing the ER work I'm doing so far. One of my "concerns" was ramping up as someone not doing an internship. Instead, I'm getting a full amazing real world caseload with typical ER variety and plenty of support when I've needed it. I've done multiple laceration repairs, finally placed a few drains, unblocked cats, my first linear fb (solo, that is), my first GDV, a couple nasty toxicity cases, a handful of not-nasty toxicity cases, an "arrested in the parking lot" case, some weird respiratory arrest case (that tried to die a few times before becoming completely normal all night and going home), a few refractory seizure cases..... And then the usual full load of vomiting this and that and euths and whatever. The other DVMs around have been great. Our technical staff is amazing.
Loving it.
