One year ago today, my dad had massive bilateral pulmonary embolisms that lead to cardiac arrest. He literally died for several minutes in the ambulance and the EMTs performed CPR all the way to the hospital where he was placed on a ventilator and then life-flighted to the Cleveland Clinic. He spent a week in the ICU.
Why is this a rave? Because after that week he came home with exactly 0 lasting effects. He recovered completely and is now 100% healthy, coaching high school baseball and going to college to discover his lifelong dream of being a high school history teacher. My whole family and a bunch of friends are going out tonight for "A Celebration of Life." I'm so thankful that all the right people were in the right place at the right time on that day, and that I still have my dad. Since his "incident," as we call it, he accompanied me to my vet school interview and was the first person I told when I got accepted. I'm so very grateful that he is still around and will hopefully be around for a long time 😍
