I defended my Master's thesis today!!!!! Having my advisor tell me that I passed was so surreal. I"m still on Cloud 9! 😀

Congrats!

I'm dreading that day (D-day for me is 5/25). My advisor is asking me to present for their seminar series and defend.... *sigh* At least it'll be done, right?

I didn't like SGU, either. I watched most of the first season solely because I liked Greer, but then I just couldn't deal with all the in-ship drama and stuff, so I just stopped. And I keep meaning to watch Atlantis, but never find the time.

I watched most of the first season as well but I just could not get into it. Atlantis is pretty great, though no one will replace Daniel Jackson 😉 and the rest of his team, of course.

Daniel's my favorite, too. XD And him with Vala is just awesome. The banter is hilarious. I've been re-watching season 9 recently on Hulu (they have alllllll the seasons, which is amazing!) and cracking up. The scene with Vala in the court room, where they're trying to convince the people about the dangers of the Ori, was priceless.

I've seen some of Atlantis, but I always forgot to watch it. I was much more focused on SG-1.

I think all the characters are great. They work off of each other so well.

I was gonna wait until later to continue watching season 9, but now I can't wait. And I definitely don't remember the episode I'm on at all. Something about a person that Anubis made....

... Do you live in MN by any chance?

Hehe, the runner's high sure is addicting!!!

Nope, sorry CS but I live on the west coast.

So addicting! It's one addiction that I don't mind though... 😉

So I'm incredibly excited because my boyfriend and I just got keys to a new apartment!! I'll only be living there through the end of June (he'll be there probs a couple years) but it is SO NICE to finally get out of this hell hole of a living situation.
Moving starts tomorrow!

YAYY!!!!! :soexcited:

Yayyyyy!!! Congrats! I expect to hear all about it whene I cash that rain check for the movies 👍

Oh, you will! It was a very interesting process. The movie comes out in two weeks (April 15th). It looks so cute!

Woo! Congrats!! 😀

Thanks!!!!!!

The anticipation and anxiety leading up to it was worse than the actual presentation and the high you feel afterwards will be totally worth it!!! I'm going to definitely try to attend yours (for moral support and since it's based on emergency preparedness and response)! 🙂

You don't have to... lol..

I'm just freaking out because there's no guidelines for the presentation..... (AND I get to do it TWICE)

Got to play with Squibby today! We had a lot of fun (well I did anyway) and got to meet each others' SOs which was neat. Also had a snowball fight on High Street.

Today has just been good in general. Even though it's snowing and icky out, I feel good, I feel energized, I had a great workout and ate good food and am looking forward to cooking a new meal tonight for the third night in a row. 😀

1. Britney's new CD came out yesterday. We're soulmates....if two people who have never been more opposite can be soulmates. One day I'll take her out to dinner and we'll swap childhood stories and laugh so hard that our champagne spurts out of our nose....just sayin'

2. I am going to be a vet trained at UC Davis and my classmates seem uber cool

3. I am moving into an apartment on a horse property where I can work off my board by feeding 4 horses and cleaning stalls on the weekends. The apartment is beautiful (albeit TINY - 624 sq ft....poor hubby)

4. I gave my horse a bath today because it was OVER 80 DEGREES!

5. I finally folded the almost waist high pile of laundry that's been at the end of our bed for an indeterminate amount of time. Apparently there is carpet below there. who knew.

My GF and I just bought tickets for the Panic At The Disco concert!! It's on the evening of the last day of finals, and it's our birthday present to each other 😀 So excited that they have a new CD out and are going on tour!

BWAAHAHAHAHA. I have a feeling we are going to get along great.

(I am a closet britney fan. damn her and her catchy tunes!)

Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's already got an apt lined up. Signing the lease as soon as I get it in the mail! My phone keeps blowing up with all the UCD fb messages about housing. SO GLAD I am going to be living on my own. (well maybe with the bf if he decides that it would be really awesome to move up to Davis with me and then never get to spend any time with me because I'll be so darn busy.) oh yeah and my wonderful dog, who after 8 months of being fine left alone in the living room during the day decides to chew up the paint on the front door and the two bedroom doors off the living room. Might have to look into doggie daycare or a dog walker...

I found a VHS at a second hand store for $10. Now, I get to reserrect my 100 + movie collection that I have been missing out on.

So now, I'm kicking my BF out for a night and my girlfriend's and I are having a Disney Princess movie/marguerita night after exams. We're doing a pot luck and playing different games and of course watching Disney movies. The girl's are all very excited about it 🙂

This is somewhat of an odd rave since everyone here seems to be super upset about being on waitlists...anyways, I'm really happy to be on waitlists (three of 'em). I kinda like the thrill of not knowing and it's much better than being rejected because there's still HOPE. Also, there's so much potential for the next year ahead of me: it will be the first time I'm out of school for more than a month since 2008 and I get to do whatever I want! There are so many cool internships, shadowing experiences, and work experiences in the vet industry and I am SUPER excited to finally have time to commit to them! School what really bringing me down and now I finally have the chance to go have some fun! But if a school calls me off their waitlist then that's ok too... 😉

I'm going to be socializing feral/unadoptably skittish cats at a local no-kill shelter, and we're their contact list for orphaned or feral kittens. So excited! I love this stuff, and I'm psyched to finally be able to do it without having to worry about finding homes for everyone. 😀

And... kittens! I haven't had kittens around since I was bottle feeding Nicholas (avatar kitteh) and littermates. (They'll be 9 on the 17th.) SQUEE.

My top choice wedding ceremony location is open on the date we wanted, we have two options for reception locations, the duplex I looked at yesterday is wonderful and they have 3 opening at the time that we need it, PLUS I'm going dress shopping today and my car will be fixed!

So f-ing excited! This was an incredibly productive spring break (minus the fact that study guide didn't get done... oh well).

Just found out that I'm going to spend 6 weeks next summer and the summer after studying pathology and food safety in Italy! For free! :soexcited:

Zoomed past a cop going 90 and didn't get pulled over. Frickin' awesome.

I'm leaving in a month for a few months of adventure before vet school starts! Good times are coming 🙂

My thesis proposal won an award (which comes with a $1000 check!)!!!!

Impromptu dance party in my pj's with my dachshunds to this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZgs1xUUAqI

Nothing better than rolling around with my doxies on the floor while they attack my face with kisses. 😍

just reposted it on my facebook. 🙂 I'm off to a LONG saturday at work but tonight I'm going out with my barn family to celebrate getting into vet school. Just what I needed. 🙂

EDIT: forgot my rave. 🙂 I took my Chihuahua to an intro to agility training last night. The first thing the trainer said to me was "Is the chihuahua just here to watch?" *Rolls eyes* She proceeded to kick ***** as she soared through a few tunnels and took some jumps like they were nothing. She was also the only one that didn't bark or try to attack any other dogs.

Absolutely loving this live eagle camera showing a mated pair and their three eaglets. It's amazing!

One year ago today, my dad had massive bilateral pulmonary embolisms that lead to cardiac arrest. He literally died for several minutes in the ambulance and the EMTs performed CPR all the way to the hospital where he was placed on a ventilator and then life-flighted to the Cleveland Clinic. He spent a week in the ICU.

Why is this a rave? Because after that week he came home with exactly 0 lasting effects. He recovered completely and is now 100% healthy, coaching high school baseball and going to college to discover his lifelong dream of being a high school history teacher. My whole family and a bunch of friends are going out tonight for "A Celebration of Life." I'm so thankful that all the right people were in the right place at the right time on that day, and that I still have my dad. Since his "incident," as we call it, he accompanied me to my vet school interview and was the first person I told when I got accepted. I'm so very grateful that he is still around and will hopefully be around for a long time 😍

I'll join you in the eye roll. My sister's Chihuahua is (on a pound for pound basis) one of the most agile and athletic dogs I know. I used to snicker at Chihuahuas, but he's turned me into a lover of them, so yay for your Chi showing the trainer up! 😀

I do agility with a toy poodle. Don't let the haters bring you down! I see a fair number of toy breeds at our trials (I always share a canopy with a Westie and a Shih Tzu, and there are a ton of yorkies there too), and a lot of them do REALLY well. Plus, it's easier for us as trainers because they aren't as fast as the Border Collies - yay for being able to do a front cross!!!

That's absolutely spectacular. Yay for your whole family 😀

My "new" dog's training is coming along so well! He went from being a complete monster in the car 6 months ago to curling up in a ball on the floor and snoozing. His recalls are at about 90% on the 50ft leash (99% if I say his name twice!) and soon we will start working off-leash work and he can come hiking with me! Still need to work on our heeling, but that's my fault for not having the time to work on that consistently 🙂

In other raves, it's a beautiful day, I spent the morning working in my garden/laying on the hammock, and I have no exams to cram for. BBQing tonight. Life is good 😎

My grandmother is back in the rehab facility (went from hospital, to rehab, to hospital, to rehab, back to hospital, and now in the rehab facility again- poor lady!), and they are pretty confident that she'll be home in about 2 weeks. She sounds soooo much better on the phone than she did a few weeks ago. Bloodwork and imaging has all been looking good as well.

And it makes me happy that the "Rant Here" thread has not been bumped up in over 48 hours. Here's hoping it stays on the second page!

I may have a place to put my horse for the next 5 years while I leave the country for school, with a lovely women who I rode with in college and who takes amazing care of the horses in her little 4-stall barn.

HUGE sigh of relief that this might be an option for us. Additional bonus is that he'd be in the veterinary care of the equine vet I worked for in college, who is a good friend and used to my horse's idiocy.

My friend works at a place where she can hook me up with danskos for only $35 bucks (we wear the same size shoe so she can use her employee discount). Woot!

So I had just picked up my Clinique spring bonus gift (my treat to myself for getting through a bunch of exams, etc.) when I checked my email (at a red light, bad me) and Oregon had just emailed me and offered me a spot in the c/o 2015 off the waitlist! RAVEEEEEE!!!!!

Ahhhhh...no more stress until school starts...

AWESOME!!!!! Huge congrats! 👍 😀

Lots of raves for me today!
I've lost 3 pounds in the past two weeks. This may seem small, but I'm only trying to lose ~10 pounds. I want to do it slowly and the right way so I don't gain it back.
I did well on my A&P exam! Very happy about this!
I get to spend Easter with my SO and his family! I love dyeing and stuffing eggs and hiding them for the kids.

Yay!! And congrats on the weight loss! I'm working on it too, have lost about 12 lbs in 5 weeks, so I understand the slow and steady thing. Keep it up! 👍

A really good friend of mine just got engaged! Now he's only known the girl for 4-5 months and personally I think its rushed (like seriously rushed) but he's fairly traditional chinese and its what his family does...so be it. I thought I wasn't going to be here for the wedding as I leave for London in the beginning of Sept. but he's thinking about 4th of July weekend for the big event. So even though I may have thought its way too soon for them to be married (and a little foolish), I don't care anymore. I'm just so thrilled I get to be there! He's such a great guy and she's really sweet too and at this point I just want to give them my blessing and help them celebrate!

Wow really? My fiancée is Chinese and his parents thought it was too soon to get engaged and are urging us to wait as long as we need...maybe they just don't like me?🙄

Well, from what his sister has said they both received a lot of pressure from the parents to get married. Also, he's always been a bit impulsive and somewhat crazy.
I'm sure his parents love you! They just sound like normal parents.

Haha I know I know...they tolerate me. I've got the rest of my life to win them over. Everything will be fine once I have a kid. They're big on grandchildren.😉

For work, I get to buy office supplies for the department under my grant.... $5k of bliss.... 😍
