Not really a rave, but I got to sit with clients after they euthanized their cat. Semi-feral, but also the sweetest little thing. She got spayed and was being watched by someone else. Licked her incision open, and all the insides were outside. It was incredibly traumatic for them.

I was dropping off the paw print/fur/nose print, and ended up talking with them for about 40 minutes. They talked about her, her kittens, their cats, dogs, the time they accidentally saved a pet turtle. I just felt very fortunate to be with them in such a vulnerable moment. One was less comfortable with death, so we talked about that a little. They weren't present for the euthanasia itself, but I was. I told them I whispered in her ear, and they were so moved.

I'm glad I got to help them. I'm glad my words meant something. I hate what happened to this cat, but these people care so deeply about the creatures they interact with. I hope they get to live long happy lives, and help many more.

We did talk about e-collars. Everything's getting an e-collar from now on. They were very sure of that.

On the last 9 weeks of my pregnancy. This time two years ago, my son was 3 days late. I by no means regret going through with the pregnancy cause my BIL/SIL are so excited to adopt. But I can't express how excited I am to be almost done. 😅

22 year old bats wanted 6 kids. She was crazy.

The animal that has been doing poorly for the last week does not need an ER euth. Just like the necropsy you wanted last month is not an ER either. 🙃
We'll euthanize almost anything that walks through the door regardless of time. Still very annoying though.

He don't even offer necropsies 🤣

Ya'll I got a lecturer position at the vet college 😍 I'll be teaching anatomy and histology! And I can still do my other CE development job too. The dream. Just need to pass my PhD defense next week!:soexcited:
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! They’re so so lucky to have you!!!! And GOOD LUCK ON YOUR DEFENSE!!!!!!! You’re gonna do fab!!!!!!

I was so stressed and convinced of inevitable doom and somehow pulled a 108% on my first anatomy exam?? Unsure how the lab portion went exactly but based on what’s been shared so far, I think that likely fell somewhere in the A-range as well. Holy what.

Still on the struggle bus in a lot of ways, but feeling like I might actually belong in my program for the first time. 🥲

MSU is taking our NAVLE issues very seriously which makes me happy. They are offering more reviews, buying practice tests, and are implementing cumulative reviews for each semester with feedback on weak areas.

My class is very excited for the cumulative reviews since we have classes so spaced out.

just popping in to say I'm a month and a bit into vet school and am just excited to have rocked my first 3 anatomy exams. idk why the practical made me so nervous (honestly should probs go get my test anxiety checked out because lordddd) but everything worked out!!! randomly experiencing imposter syndrome so it's cool to be actually doing well a part of me was definitely worried I was going to come in and just be constantly struggling.

You are capable of more than you imagine and know more than you think! Coming from a fellow first year that needed to be told that 🙂

I LOVE internal medicine ??? Everyone told me it was a nightmare but I’m actually happier on this rotation than I have been on any other by far.
I think the biggest things that effect this are your adults on the rotation and the cases you get. If you have great cases or great adults, it makes it so much better. Ultimately everyone practices internal medicine (except surgery exclusives), so I'm glad you're loving it 😊

For sure I have some great clinicians and I’ve seen some really interesting cases so far!

Something silly but makes my heart so warm: I love working for the department of anthropology!! Everyone is so silly and kind. I brought cookies in for Halloween and I'm making everyone say "trick or treat" in order to receive one, and they are so enthusiastic about it! I presented a paper on gene loss in vampire bats and a paper on "how fast does the grim reaper walk" yesterday during our lab meeting and everyone loved the idea of presenting themed papers for holidays. I am just loving my job, my team and how chill everyone is!!!

I'm screaming. Dragon Age The Veilgaurd comes out today and I can't overstate my excitement. I've been waiting for 10 years. I thought for sure this game was dead so many times. But in just a few hours, I'll have the game copy in my hands. I can't believe it. I think I last felt this was about something was last year when Attack on Titan ended. I'd have to go back 4 years to Cyberpunk 2077 for a game that did this to me.

Like, this kept me going during the hard months earlier this year. Like talked about in therapy kept me going. Now I'm just over 3 hours from playing. I'm so proud of myself for making it.

Also HAPPY HALLOWEEN YALL! Don't forget to have a little fun today.

This is absolutely so wholesome and suddenly all the social media hype I've seen over this game makes more sense, I had no idea it had been that long!

I was a Senior in High School and played it over my Thanksgiving break. I've since bought a house, got married, graduated college, lived through a pandemic, and so much more. Literally have on my calendar that I'll be in Thedas all weekend.

I hope its good!!! I loved DA:O but the two later games really just didn't do it for me. I'm really hoping Veilguard will restore my faith in Bioware... please let me know how you are liking it! I'm not picking it up for a bit just yet.

I'll be straight up with you, something would have to go horribly wrong for me not to fall in love with Veilgaurd. I was a Day 1 defender on Cyberpunk (not helped by the fact it came out on my birthday) and am a general RPG girlie.

I'm also a Mass Effect girl at heart. I'm glad they can move towards that finally, also teased on my birthday in 2020.

Mass Effect fan here through and through. My golden's name is Tali'Zorah and I have a tattoo of the character on my leg. Really hoping for a solid entry in the series as Andromeda was not good. I also bought cyberpunk on day 1 but wasn't impressed.

If you haven't played it recently, you should revisit. The mechanics are much more worked out, and there are fewer game breaking bugs. I also have always played it on an Xbox Series X, which had very few problems even at launch. Plus Phantom Liberty is an incredible experience on its own.

Quick edit to add: I also have a video game tattoo. But it's tetris blocks on my wrist. They all mean something different too!

First part is a definate rave; second part just feeling frustrated:
Going to my husband's surgeon who I met when he had meniscal surgery 4 weeks ago. Found out her whole family is veterinarians. She kindly did me a huge professional courtesy and got me in a whole month sooner after my hubs mentioned my knee issues. Told her I didn't want to be that person and was more than willing to wait. She's also checking in with anesthesia to see if they will do locals or not so I can hopefully get surgery while pregnant. Fingers crossed they will. Regardless of outcome just happy I'll have a plan moving forward even if I have to wait.

I'll definately be disappointed if I can't get surgery right away (even though I know it's more likely than being able to get sx asap) because I've just been so limited it my ROM and like a pain score of 3 basically daily so it's also limited what I can do at work and I'm usually a pretty active person-soccer, running, volleyball. So being laid up like this has definately been a drag-very physically and mentally frustrating is all and idk if I have to wait for surgery how I'm going to deal with this another like 7-8 months ...

This is probably lame to many of you, but earlier this week, I spent a day at our local humane society and did 6 spays/neuters solo. That's more surgery in one day than I've done in my entire 5 years of practice!

I definitely had a nightmare that night about tying off a urethra during a neuter, though

Ob signed off on spinal and local block anesthesia. Surgeon seems confident in being able to do sx that way and using something similar to nocita so I'm not in total agony given the lack of narcotic capabilities.

She's confirming with anesthesia tomorrow but her confidence made me feel like having sx might actually be possible and not just a pipe dream of a pregnant lady who can't really walk.

Fingers crossed anesthesia signs off then looking at sx hopefully for xmas (the 20th) or the day after xmas🤞

Finally, after weeks of looking, I ordered a couple of dresses for my courthouse wedding next month (and by next month I mean 19 days 😳). This wasn't quite the way I wanted to get married, but gosh f***ing darn it I'm going to make the most of it. We're getting a cake, the soon to be spouse is a florist and is making my bouquet, and if I ever hear back from the photographer we'll get some nice photos too. We'll do the big wedding with the big dress one day, but for now I'm happy with this.

We did a courthouse wedding about five months before our ceremony! It was great 🙂 We realized we absolutely hated wedding planning (or at least I did) and cancelled the big 100 person event, then did the courthouse ceremony and ended up with a micro-wedding on the beach with the "people we can't get married without" present. 13/10, would do again.

My fiancé would prefer an elopement, but they have a big Irish family with big Irish expectations 🤣. I don't think I'd want anything bigger than 50-75 people which is apparently tiny for weddings but feels giant to me. I'm getting more and more excited about the courthouse thing though. We've been engaged for 1.5 years at this point so it doesn't feel sudden, but it does feel somewhat born out of necessity.

Courthouse weddings FTW!!! My husband and I got married the summer between my first and second year at the court house and everything was so easy. We had an “official” wedding this summer for my family and I don’t regret a thing.

Need to rave about the fact that I am about to finish my first semester of vet school with stellar grades after getting "On this Day..." photo memories from when I was obviously puffy from crying about not getting into my current school 3 years ago. I am so proud of myself for being here.

Pursuing my dreams, no longer with my toxic ex of 6 years (who made my acceptance into Cornell this year about himself...) and living my life out of the closet finally. Hooray for the good days that have come and the future reminders to push through the tough ones that will inevitably come.
