Still in utter disbelief that I passed NAVLE. I was so sure that I failed. Getting my result was a HUGE sense of relief, and I feel like a giant weight was lifted from my shoulders now that I know I passed.
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉

I had seen so many cute videos online of people opening their exam results/school acceptances/etc. that I decided to record myself opening my NAVLE score today, even though I thought there was like a 99% chance that I failed. I’m so glad that I did because I never, ever feel as elated and joyful as I did in that moment when I saw I passed! Now I have that memory to look back on, and I’m just really glad I captured something happy for myself in this otherwise challenging week

It’s supposed to snow tomorrow (in FLORIDA!) So basically every county that’s expected to receive any including ours has cancelled school because us Floridians do not know how to act or drive when it gets cold 😂 Exam postponed!!!
I grew up in Milton/Pensacola, and they got almost 6 inches of snow! So crazy. That's more than we have on the ground right now where I'm at (Midwest, v cold)

This beautiful horse slipped down an embarkment and was rescued by technical rescue firefighters and helicopter.

A special rigging system was used to get the exhausted horse back on his feet.

Veterinarian was at the scene and provided professional advice, assistance and medical care.

The horse is doing okay! 😍

Just helped with my first ever emergency C-section! What was supposed to be a spay-abort on a late term kitten (about 50-52 days) turned into 6/7 babies breathing, crawling, and squeaking. They’re not out of the woods yet and I’m under no illusion that preemie babies who didn’t get colostrum won’t struggle, but gosh it feels good to give them a chance. A little reminder about why I love my job and my studies at a time when I’ve been feeling a bit down ❤️

Nothin' a little subcutaneous plasma can't fix (if you have it)!

I was reading about this! The vet on duty didn't bring it up, but I plan on asking if they thought about doing it when I'm in next. Mama turned FRACTIOUS when she woke up, so if the idea is to draw her blood, that wasn't happening 🤣

FFP works well too if you have access to it! We'd often do it right away in the ER because anecdotally, ER c-sections seem to have a higher chance of mom not giving two ***** about her litter lol

ETA: Also the plasma doesn't have to be from mom, to be more clear! You do run the risk of a stray RBC causing drama, but that's rare

I finished my half marathon!!!! It was so hard and that Arizona sun (even in winter) is no joke, but I finished and I ran the entire time. I am currently in my bed taking a personal day from school because my hips and knees decided to not function, but I am already planning another one hehe

I am also losing my mind because Arcade Fire keeps posting new album hints & if it doesn't drop soon (+ a tour with a Maritimes date pls???) I will actually explode

Almost 11 weeks post op and finally touched my heel to my butt on my surgical leg and hit past the 130 degree mark pt considers "normal" today. Only 5 more degrees to go to match my good leg 💪
Matched my good leg today. Not as easy to get there but I officially have equal bend in both legs. Having less pain overall daily and feeling more normal. 1 more month until I can start cutting training exercises but today was a huge milestone 🥳

I had my last ER shift last night/this morning! I worked as a kennel assistant for almost two years, two months shy. They were the first place to let me have a chance to actually work in a vet clinic. Without them, my acceptance this cycle would not have been possible. This job also reinforced my love for vet med and affirmed this is what I am meant to do with my life. I genuinely enjoyed my time working here, even through all the good and the bad. I loved my coworkers and everything they taught me. It was really hard to step away from this job but it was time. I’m just so grateful for the opportunity afforded to me!

I am so grateful for low-cost spay and neuter programs. I took my little 7 month old kitten in for her spay yesterday. I found a low-cost clinic in Naperville. It is attached to an animal shelter, but they also take community members' pets too for a small fee. They were so kind and professional and it was only $95 for everything including anesthesia and pain meds. As someone on a very tight budget, I was really grateful for that. After an unexpected expense for the dog on Monday (darn ear infections), I was afraid I was going to have to go into debt in order to keep this appointment.

I felt like she was in good hands too with people who are high-volume S/N and would be prepared for any anatomic variability or whatnot. Thank you guys for all you do!

So awkward asking for my letter of recommendation writers for a third submission bc I wanted to apply to two new schools post-VMCAS😅 and now one of my writers is on vacation in another country, so I literally had to whatsapp him and hope he still has my letter with him

I asked my LOR writer for 3 submissions as well. It was difficult. I promised myself to pay it forward though. When I am asked for LORs multiple times, I will gladly send it over..again..and again..and again.

I GOT SLEEP TOKEN TICKETS RAHHHH !!! THEY ARE NOSEBLEEDS BUT IDCCCCC !!
I've never heard of this band. Clearly I'm out of the loop. Umm, I got tickets to see Nine Inch Nails this September.

Wait, does that make me old?

I think it probably does.

It's the day before my 40th birthday, so. I guess it checks out.

I am so excited for you! I have always wanted to see NIN in concert. Is this your first time seeing them live?

Happy birthday in advance too. 🙂

I am a Millenial and was introduced to them by hearing "Granite" on the radio. I love them! I am so jealous of you! Have fun! 🙂

It is! We didn't manage on their last tour. But it's been a long time coming, for sure.

And thank you, although I do have nearly half a year left before then lol

I still don't have a TikTok account. At this point, I'm an old person shaking their cane and ranting about what FB was like before they let highschoolers and grandparents join. I get recycled TT videos on Insta, and so far none have features Sleep Token, just lots of Doechii

I have been planning my 30th birthday festivities (July) for months now. I just love birthdays.

The best part of having a cane is literally being able to shake it when I go on my rants about how social media is a cancer on society, lol.

30? I see, you are one of the yoofs.

I don't have a cane, but I have lower back pain and a burning sense of indigence about the state of the world.

I feel like I am in that odd spot where I look/feel young but don't understand a lot of slang words and technology/social media references. I first used a computer when I was well into elementary school because working class people did not have computers then. It ran on Windows 95. Most of what I remember and my cultural references are in common with other Millennials, but most Millennials are significantly older than me. (I was born in 1995, so I am just kissing the cutoff of 1996.) I don't feel like one of the youths!

The bolded made me laugh! Good one!

You are definitely a yoof. Don't argue now!

I remember using MS-DOS to start up my games on a floppy disc. We had Windows 3 first, then 95. I remember the Weezer video that came with it - Buddy Holly, on the set of Happy Days. Haha.

Aw, I remember floppy discs. We thought they would never become obsolete.

Weezer is the best.

Highly recommend an adjustable bed base, helped my back pain! Not so much the anger, frustration, hopelessness about the state of the world, but I'd probably have to shell out for a TemperPedic mattress with adjustable base that retails for $10k, and that's financially out of reach.

Literally WHY are mattresses so expensive. I felt like our options when we bought a new bed were “bottom of the barrel, you’ll sleep but at what cost, hahaha you can’t afford anything nicer” and then “woven with the finest silk from the rarest bug, memory foam infused with gold, oh by the way it’ll cost 25% of your current yearly salary but you DO care about your sleep and health, don’t you?” We don’t mind out $700 mattress, it seems to be fine, but why is the next option like $3000 before you even get a bed frame?????

Even being born in '99 I feel like this, but I had significantly older millennial siblings ('87 and '92), older baby boomer parents ('59 and '60), and I lived in a rural area so we were behind the times when it came to technology. My dad worked for IBM for quite some time so we had a gateway at home, the kind that came in the cow box, and that was about as cool as it got in the early 2000s. At school I remember the iMac G3 with the tube display, using floppy disks, and the era of "get off the computer I'm on the phone!". I remember when we first got the unibody Macs in the library because of a donation from a parent.

And omg, the first time we got a smart board and we thought "wow, we're really living in the future". My first cellphone was a sliding keyboard, we got our first cordless house phone with multiple receivers when I was a kid, and kids these days don't know what it was like trying to turn the TV off quickly and hoping the tube would stop making noise before your parents heard it 🤣. It's wild having grown up watching technology boom the way it did. Like little me would be SHOOK at the concept of taking notes on a touch screen with a digital pencil, but also probably would have been like "yeah, that tracks".

I think we're rapidly becoming the grandparents of Facebook.

Well the nice thing about being a FB (childless) grandparent is that I can, in fact, afford the Tempurpedic bed with the adjustable base and have had it for 10 years now. You can pry it out of my cold, dead hands (metaphorically, because like, it's really heavy). The lower back pain is probably more because I sit a lot (I type as I am seated) and maybe just a bit of, idk, endometriosis? I'm not sure what my body is doing these days.

But remember, I was 22 when I joined this site, and I had only been on FB for like 2-3 years at this point. Heh heh... it'll happen to all of you. It's coming.

Oh I've been nursing an aching lower back for a week now.

It is awful. I used to have an adjustable bed too, but I ended up not using it, so I sold it.

My back does not want to behave and stop hurting. It has been a rough week or so.

Willing to bet I'm closer to your age than you think! And we are also human child free, but do have some needy four leggeds along with my upcoming tuition payments putting a damper on our TemperPedic budget.

I'm FREE from my awful first job! Never thought I'd be so happy to be unemployed, but I feel more relieved now than I did after graduation.
Update - I spent last week at a practice and I'm accepting a job there! They made me such a generous offer and I really liked the area. The world feels much brighter already... now to get ready for a cross-country move!
