I love my hockey team. 😍

My women's team entered in an adult league at our rink (mostly men, a couple of teams have a woman or two) and are currently 4-1, much better than we expected. 🙂

Always such a good time playing with my chicks

im officialy done with undergrad!! i graduate in 6 days, then it will be a whirl wind of packing and making arrangements for moving for the following week as my SO and I prepare to move from little NH, where we have lived our whole lives, to Idaho! it will be new and exciting but its terifying too😱

1. I made the Dean's List this semester, even though I was 99.99% sure I wouldn't😀
2. I love my internship so far! I've learned so much in the past week.
3. I have my own house in a beautiful town in West Michigan for the summer. Only $150/month!
4. My parents are taking my sister and me on a cruise this summer! I haven't been on one in like 5 years, so I am really excited.

I had the most amazing weekend- my boyfriend of 3 years proposed, and I (finally) graduated. So many adult steps! 😀

I love my hockey team. We're 5-1 in the men's league as a women's team and the troll in me loves to see how butthurt the guys we play against are after games. This time, the dudes were kicking trash cans as they were going into the locker room, they were so mad about losing to girls. 😍

Boys are such babies. 😀

I had a group presentation in my Companion Animal Fundamentals class today. When the groups had a drawing for which group would present what animal, my group drew the "wild card" and decided to do our presentation on Working Dogs, specifically the Boxer. Well, I have a Boxer, so Mr. Cassius got to come into class and represent his breed today. I was worried because sometimes he gets anxious and shaky and whiny in new places but he was SO AMAZING today 😍 I've never been more proud of him. He laid down so nicely next to me while we gave the presentation, then he stood quietly next to my side while I was telling the class about him, and for the rest of the lecture after we presented he just slept on the little blanket I brought him. My teacher, who is a vet, absolutely loved him, calling him an "angel" and "a shining example of his breed." She was gushing over how beautiful and fit and well behaved he is. I was SO proud of him for being amazing and making me look good 😉 Here's a picture of him sleeping after the presentation...

Hey, I graduate on Friday too!

In other news, I just got offered a (potential) part-time job for the summer... birdwatching! After all the volunteer bird surveying I've done, the prospect of actually being paid for it is pretty exciting. Hopefully I can squeeze it in between wildlife rehab and maybe working with my Honours supervisor on owls again.

After all the crazy shizz that's gone down this month I finally have something to rave about - I got an iPhone 4 and a hand-me-down iPad on the same day! I'm seriously giddy with all of this technology. 🙂

Okok another one...today is the last day of long distance for my fiancee and me! Four years is a long time. It's nice to finally reach the light at the end of the tunnel. 😍

That is amazing! I too know the hardships of a long distance relationship, but when it's with the right person, it is absolutely doable! I will be going to vet school with mine starting August, so I second your 😍.

Hurray for love!

Yes, with the right person it is do-able. Of course, we had more than our fair share of hardships but we remained resilient and forgiving. I am so thankful that I have learned to never take my sweetie for granted because I know what it's like to not see him for months at a time! <3

Good luck!

Signed the lease on an adorable house today ^__^

...I'll either have to get an extra loan or a roommate, but it's totally somewhere I can see myself living for four years, so it's worth it!

Woot woot got more dermal anchor piercings and I am having an amazing time being single! 😀

i finally have my tickets to and from grenada booked!!! lets see if my stress level diminishes significantly, that was horrible! But its done! (until next time haha)

Mine are on the back of my neck... and hips... but yeah doesn't feel good, but looks amazing I think 🙂

I always loved the way getting piercings felt. It was such an adrenaline rush! I had most of them done by the time I was 21; but unfortunately, my body rejected the metal and I've had to take most of them out. I'd love to get some of them re-done, but I'm afraid they would just migrate again.

I was going to ask if they were facial, only because I was wondering if these was any specific dress code to follow for vet school and how hey feel about piercings/tatts and such.

VMCAS just started and, for the first time in four years, I don't have to worry about it. I always had the hardest time getting started on it, and putting in my grades was basically a form of torture. Blugh! Glad to be free of that part, particularly.

I just transfered to NSAC after my first year of undergrad. I'm finally going into pre-vet, which is definitely what I was meant to be in. I decided I wanted to be a vet when I was 5 😀

MY MOM MIGHT LET ME ADOPT A DACHSHUND FOR VET SCHOOL!!!!! I found an adult that I really like. He's so cute! 🙂

Oh yes, on the right girl, they would look stunning. They would look ridiculous on me, but I have a friend who has the perfect personality and body for them.

Went back to campus yesterday and saw some awesome friends. It was just what I needed. I feel so much better!🙂

The past two weeks have been amazing.

-My fiance's family and I painted his grandmother's house and did a lot of yardwork and other fixing-up type chores. It looks so great now!

-My fiance's mom and dad have gotten all of their dogs in the past 15 years by picking up strays that have found their way to his grandmother's house. All of them have been beagles or beagle mixes, and all have shown up on holiday weekends. They still have one of their mutts, but had to put their most recent adoption to sleep around Christmas. Once again, two beagles arrived while we were working around Memorial Day, one just a 2-3 month old pup. We let them go because they had tags from a neighbor just up the road who had recently passed away, figuring someone was running them (the adult was obviously trained to hunt). The male reappeared alone for a few days, running off during the day, returning at night. Finally, the pup reappeared, this time with the right half of his face swollen and cut/punctured. The adult returned two days later, and the reunion was adorable!! Unfortunately, the male ran off before we could grab him, but no one at the house has seen him since. The pup is now much better and is being loved on by my fiance's sister.

-We went to Universal Studios as our "honeymoon" (we're getting married right after my first year and right before he starts his third year of medical school... no chance then). Yes, we visited Hogsmead, yes, we drank butterbeer, and yes, we bought wands for our future movie room. I guess we like to plan way way ahead.

I made the Dean's List at my school for the first time since sophomore year (damn you o-chem 2 and statistics in other semesters) 😀😀😀

I have 15 piercings and they are fine with it at LSU.... I'm just sitting in a classroom, I'm not dealing with the public or anything. Other people in the class have tattoos and things and facial piercings (I just have my tongue and both of my nostrils) and no one seems to care.

What about clinics? That would mean interacting with the public. Can you keep them all for that?

I am typing this from my new orange Toshiba netbook, which I affectionately call my baby laptop. Those who know me know that having an orange computer is a pretty big deal (also have an orange crackberry).
It is my last week of work at the practice I have been at for the past 2 years, bittersweet, but exciting nonetheless.
Next week begins 2 full weeks working at the stable I ride at for EMS work, with my long distance boyfriend.
And in two months I am headed over the big pond to Scotland (if the headache that is the visa application gets done) to start my dream... also with the no longer long distance boyfriend.

(I cannot figure out for the life of me how to insert the video directly).

Edit: HOW COULD I FORGET - the little guy that is my avatar won my town's contest for "Favorite Dog", run by the dog park. He holds the title for a whole year, and has no idea.

I could not think of anywhere else to put this ( I did not think it belonged in the rant thread), but here goes: I did my first euthanasia today, on a 3-day old beef calf who was open-mouth breathing and looked like it was in the last few hours of life.

I am so thankful that the veterinarian allowed me to give the injection. It is a sobering experience to carry out this procedure. I am not happy that the animal died, but I am happy that its pain and suffering are now relieved, and that I had the opportunity to personally help ease its passing.

I got into Cornell!! got called off the waitlist yesterday!
😀

WOO! Congrats! What a nice surprise. 😀

So, despite being unemployed, my June is steadily filling up. I've got a kids' nature event this weekend that I'm helping run games and activities for. I'm doing first aid/CPR training on the 21 and 22 (trying to get certified as a medical first responder volunteer so I can volunteer at events through the year). I'm helping at the multicultural festival for four days at the end of the month (30th-4th), plus training for that beforehand. 🙂

Although I've been in the dumps lately, the beach is only 20 minutes from my house. Whenever I go out there, all of my worries disappear. Sounds cliche, but it's awesome. Also, went for a walk downtown today and got lost. At 11:30 at night. Usually I would freak, but I really didn't care. I made it back okay (obviously 🙂 ).

I saw an emergency tracheostomy today--it was amazing! I left before I saw the outcome of the case, but the tracheostomy was a complete success!

WOW😱😱😱

That is a legit rave, I am jealous!

On a similarly less cool note, but equally as exciting (maybe) - Animal Planet is showing E-Vet Interns again, reruns of course, but fun nonetheless! I watch it and become, well, giddy.
