I feel like this is the only place where I can say this and not get strange looks:
I GOT TO RUN THE ELECTROEJACULATOR TODAY!

I GOT TO RUN THE ELECTROEJACULATOR TODAY!
All this automation and electronic hoo haw nowadays.... nothing like a good old-fashioned hand job.
*runs and hides*
I've been able to go and help out at the bird sanctuary where my African grey and umbrella cockatoo has been in long term foster care since 2006 (!) every weekend throughout the summer, and it's made so extremely happy. I saw them once when I came to visit CSU last year, but that was a brief visit. My grey certainly recognized me, but I wasn't so sure if my cockatoo had. He was happy as a clam to be cuddling with me, but then again, he's a cockatoo...
My grey recognized me off the bat again, and just stepped up on my hands happily when I went out to the flight to bring her in. The staff was surprised, because apparently she would never do that with anyone else. When I was first brought over to the flight that my cockatoo (Flower) was in, I didn't recognize him amongst the rest, and he was way too busy making out with his new girlfriend. But when I took him out and started playing with him, about 10 min in, it was like a switch had gone off. And ever since then, he comes running as soon as he sees me walking by.
I was extremely happy to learn that Flower had bonded with his girlfriend Lucy, and I was so proud of him! They preen each other and sit by each other all day every day. Apparently, the cargo net is Flower's territory, and no one else dares to go near it. Lucy is the only one allowed to be on it. It's so freaking cute!!! What was even cuter though, is that when I come by, the only thing Flower's interested in is me. So when Lucy follows him and tries to engage him in PDA, flower scoots away as if to say "no, not in front of my mama!" After a while, it gets to the point where Flower will take is foot and push her away. Just about made me die from all the cuteness. Caught this one on video:
After being worried that I wouldn't even get in to take the gre today since my last name was weird on the registration I rocked the test.
Definitely. I've also started doing other things like running and eating healthier to help the situation. Life is good🙂That's great! 👍 I had a lot of anxiety and finally built up the courage to seek professional help as well, and it's helped leaps and bounds.
Hands down, my current boss is the most amazing boss I've ever had and he's sooo routing for me to get into vet school. I will owe him a lot if and when I do finally get in!
After about 3 months of severe medical problems, multiple tests, not being able to eat much for the past 3 weeks and losing 30 pounds; I finally got an answer early Saturday morning, had surgery and am now feeling AMAZING!! Now I can get back to visiting SDN more often, trying to find new animal experiences to improve my application and rock out my third application. Third time applying will be the charm!! I can't wait to catch up here on everything I have missed on SDN over the past few months. 😀

My cat decided to become a parasitologist. *giant adorable photo*
oh...damn that's big. oh well...
Had a somewhat enjoyable drive to work today. It's cool to have two enjoyable moments on the drive.
All those "where's a cop when you need one" thoughts were partially sated in this schadenfreude moment .... I was driving at 60 in a 55 (I've averaged a speeding ticket every year or so for the last decade; I'm trying to reform myself.). Some muttonhead was riding my tail so close I could identify the booger he was picking from his nose. After 5 minutes of this aggressive bumper sniffing, he finally laid on his horn, blasted around to the left, and passed me. Why he didn't do it 5 minutes earlier is mystifying; the left lane was empty the whole time.
Anyway... 200 yards after he blasted past me he also roared past the cop hiding behind a bridge support. Cop promptly pulled him over.
I admit, I waved when I passed him. Horrible.
A few minutes later I was on a cloverleaf when a hawk fell out of the sky right next to me. Like, literally, it looked like it fell out of the sky. It wasn't a graceful "I'm going to come down and grab my meal" kind of attack. It was a flopping, twisting, help-I'm-going-to-crash-and-burn type of thing. Except that a few seconds later it came out of the brush with a meal in its claws. Really cool!
It was hard to see, of course, since it was flopping and twisting, but I thought it looked like a Cooper's Hawk. Except, it was quite a bit bigger than I thought Cooper's Hawks get. Anyone know what kind of hawk in MN has similar coloring, is bigger, and hunts by apparently an uncontrolled fall out of the sky to squash its prey? 🙂 Are Broad-Winged Hawks at all like that?

1) I got my first 2 real tattoos 🙂 [for those of you anal retentive people, don't worry, they're not visible in a working/school/public life environment]
2) I only have 2 more days of work!
3) I neutered 2 cats today and I spay one next week!
Six days of work left until I'm unemployed!!!
This has been a long, torturous process and I am SO excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

omg, you're never going to get a job or be taken seriously again the rest of your life. 😉
seriously, libster: Tattoos with no (tactful/modest) pics? C'mon.....
Oooooh, they both look really good! Congratulations, Lib. 🙂
So I'm not sure where to put this, but I felt like someone would appreciate it:
My boyfriend has two cats. One REALLY loves him. As in... I get kind of jealous of their creepy relationship. Anyway, we got up to take a shower this morning, and the cat sat in front of the shower just staring at the BF. So he went and picked him up, while standing out of the stream of water. I was like, "Get the cat out of the shower! Are you crazy?" I didn't want to be in the same shower as a cat who was about to get wet and probably maul us both. Also, he's a long haired cat, and would totally clog the drain. Jeez.
Fast forward a few minutes later, and my BF is just standing under the shower with the cat happily sitting in his arms, soaking wet. When he finally put the cat back on the bath mat, I am pretty sure he was a little sad that he was uninvited from the shower...
I've never seen a happily wet cat.

Way cool sighting! This sounds like a Cooper's Hawk. They are very ballsy birds which hit fast and hard and are not afraid to pursue prey into dense cover. Coops usually hunt stealthily from trees, but are known to do the drop-from-the-sky thing. If it was bluish on top, reddish below and roughly crow-sized, it was a Coop for sure. Broad-wings are brown on top, more laid-back and almost always hunt in or on the edges of forests, swooping down from a branch to pick off small prey from the ground.
So happy to hear that! I thought you were just taking a "break" after the disappointment. Great to have you back!
