......I'm toeing the vet school line again. Want to cross over but need to tie up a few looses ends and one big one. Let's see where this year goes....

I get to play with a snake today! We have a huge indigo snake with a prolapsed hemipene that we're going to try to repair later. I have ZERO snake experience but I think they're awesome, and I'm excited about getting to learn about this one.
Snakes are the best. When I was at the zoo the summer of 2010, got to spend time with some snakes and handle 'em. They're awesome😍
In other, semi-related news, back to the vet school business. Want some more animal experience to make my resume (coughyearoffcough) not look like a mere work/loan repayment year. Any suggestions??
Orgo exam #2: 98% Huzzah!
My patient from last week: still not walking, slim chance he ever will. However, Mom is not giving up on him. He's getting around fine with his cart, has the best smile, and tries to hop up on mom in his cart. Mom is elderly, she cried. Definite feel good moment.
Today: no work, no clinic, no class. Today is mine. All mine. A treat I haven't been granted since July. Doesn't matter that I'm behind in one class, here I sit, perusing the net, sipping my coffee. Because I can.

It was totally awesome. The Dr taught me how to handle him, because I've never had any experience with them, and a lot about snake anatomy and probing. He even offered to bring in his own snakes for me to handle, and learn how to draw blood and stuff on! 👍 Super excited!

Snakes on a plane, train or in an automobile - I'd be cool with it 😎 Unless they're pit vipers or mambas or Amazonian boa constrictors or pythons (aka anything that could eat or kill me....wait, that's a lot of snakes....

This one is an indigo snake - he's really mellow and easy to handle, so a good one to start on! I'm very lucky that this vet is well-known in the area for seeing reptiles, so hopefully I'll get more experience with them!

Next, eraseable highlighters. They work. I have to go to staples.

sharpie pens...MY ONE TRUE LOVE!!!😍😍😍
i use sharpie pens the way other people use highlighters haha!
I use something similar to those pens. I always made my family bring me those over from Germany because I've never seen them here before. but I actually saw them a while ago. The UGA bookstore is the only place I know that seels them..

I love using both of these so much. I tried the sharpie ones but am not so happy with them. Maybe it's just because I've used Stabilo all my life.. hahaha

The only reason I go to Staples is to cruise the office supply aisle (particularly post-its & coloring supplies 😍)

I exercise regularly and try to eat healthy... but give up caffeine? 😱

Yeah, I would probably keel over if I gave up caffeine. No way, no how.
I think my anatomy exam on the head and abdomen went well. I don't want to jinx myself but it felt a lot better than I thought I would. Usually when I think I do well I end up epically failing, though, so who knows!

I haven't exercised regularly in years (just started before the long weekend) and most of my poor eating has resulted from the fact that what tastes best with coca cola is crappy, greasy, salty food. By giving up coke, it's made it easier to eat healthier foods.
Oh!!! I don't drink any soda (not because I'm healthy... lamest reason ever coming in two seconds... the bubbles hurt my tongue. 🙁), so I find this less shocking.
No coffee, either, though?
Got a 94% on my microeconomics midterm and a 95% on my immunology exam! I have a toxicology exam on Wednesday and a food chemistry exam on Friday. Hopefully I can pull >90%'s on those, too!😀

Re: coffee... I can't drink it except very occasionally and without lots of other stuff in there. I love it but my heart thinks it is free license to try out fun new rhythms. I wonder if I would feel more motivated / less exhausted if I could.

Staples had a 12 or 15 pack last time I was there... I bought it 🙂 I have all kinds of colors now! Can't remember if they have Staples in MD... but they were 9.99 when I got mine 🙂
Can you try a relatively highly caffeinated tea?
I need a lot of sleep at night, and despite my hypothyroidism being managed pretty well, I still get drowsy all the time. A little caffeine helps me out a lot.
