My first day as a tech I wrote it in the adjective form and the doc read it out loud in the room by accident... he didn't say it the way I meant it. 😳 I was immediately scolded! OOPS!!
😆

Every time we get a new receptionist it pops up on our schedule lol

We've always have several clients name their cats Pussycat or something along those lines. They always feel the need to abbreviate it and then it gets awkward. We also have the clients with some pets with other awkward names and we choose to call the owner instead of yelling their pet's name in the waiting area.

Hahaha. I can mail you a pizza kit from my dad's pizza shop as a thank you. The money goes directly to the school, so I'll never see any of it.
What? Dad's pizza shop?
I need to meet you RIGHT NOW! Is it any good?
I will hold your hand all 1st year if you can hook me up with good pizza.

Come over. Play with my dogs. Eat our food. Watch our TV. whatever you want.

Your dad could have an influx of pre-vet/vet business...😉

So, I just re-read the email I got. And realized that my work would COVER 75% of the cost, and I would only have to pay 25% tuition!! 😱:soexcited: As long as I worked there while taking classes, which I was planning to do anyways!

OMG. If the pizza is better than the local dreck.....

I mean, the amount of pizza we get served for lunch talks is astounding.
It could pay your tuition!

Not to mention how often I will be eating Pizza with Mrs SOV away at princeton.

I was actually going to comment that only covering 25% seemed low in contrast to most universities I've experienced - super exciting in any case!

It makes me so happy! I'm going to talk with admissions/financial aid though to confirm. I only work parttime, pays pretty decent. I'm going to try and get back into shadowing with the vet I shadowed 10 years ago. Hoping to eventually get a paid position. Then I'll have 2 parttime jobs and much cheaper school! If this all works out, this will seriously make my year! 😍

There is a little lounge area at work with a huge window. It's on the ground floor and there is a large flowering bush in it. A robin decided to make her nest in the bush, so I've been watching the baby birds in there for the past week.

Also, I live in a basement apartment. The landlord has a feeder hanging right outside of my bedroom window. Nothing ever seems to visit when I am home. We got a bad rain storm last night, so there has been thrushes, blue jays, mourning doves and chipmunks hanging around the feeder. It's awesome!

I work at my university's vet school. Shouldn't that count, too? I am seriously struggling with paying for school. 🙁

Hahaha. I think it's good, but I'm a little biased, but several people like it, including some of my friends from NYC/Long Island, and they're pretty particular about what pizza is considered acceptable. The store itself is up in Hamburg, if you know where that is. But I'm sure I could bring kits down for you as well. I've taken them to PSU which is a longer trip and it's been fine.

or mail some to FL😉

I just got two massive, nice dog beds (the kind with sides and extra cushy) at petco for $45. What a STEAL! They were having a huge sale and it took all of my willpower to not by 4 or 5 more just for the heck of it. Perfect timing since my puppy just chewed up my parents dog bed while they were watching her. Oops.

I know every University is different though. MNSCU(MN state colleges, like Mankato and Moorhead State) would give a discount to students if your parent worked there. But U of MN system does not do that.

I would go ask your financial aid person and the registrar/admissions, they should know.

I will! That would help so much!

Press release for what, exactly?! :meanie:

Got a grant, did a study, presented a poster. 😉 Controversial topic so they decided to do an article on it. Is cool because my mentor and I may be continuing this study later to publish it (I'm in humanities, though).

Abney, I hope you feel better soon!

WS, that's awesome that you get such cheap tuition! I'm jealous. 😉

You saying controversial topic now makes me really want to know about it.

I still have to talk to my school about it to confirm though. The letter didn't say, but I don't know if Part timers at the research station are considered or not. I'm just so excited that there is a distinct possibility!

I once wrote "***** eye" on an intake sheet. When a tech came up to get the animal and saw what I wrote we about died laughing, hiding behind the reception desk.

EDIT: and by the stars I mean the adjective for pus. Had no idea it would be censored.

I studied foster parents and I work with the foster care system. I think with that anyone in my college can identify me...

It's less controversial but more something everyone has an opinion about and it is hotly debated, even in the system. Pretty much anything in the foster care system is...

I really can't answer that. How many hours did you get in the month? And every school is different. You really do have to look at each one to see what they want. And if I remember correctly some of the schools won't give you an exact number of what they want.

This is a very open-ended question in the wrong thread. But so you know..
So I will be applying to Vet schools in the next couple of cycle. I'm a california resident and UC Davis is too expensive for me, I was thinking about attending to Oregon state if I do get accepted there. I know the oos tuition is about the same as going to davis but after a year of living there I will apply as a instate. I was just wondering what you guys think about the OSU Vet school.
Thanks guys

It appears you are primarily interested in schools with low COA.
So, as UC Davis's in state cumulative COA is 241,420 you are looking at (for non-resident as I bet you still live in CA)
Illinois
NCSU
LSU
Oregon
Utah
OKSU
TAMU
Wisconsin
In descending order for cost.

I recommend you start by looking on these schools websites or in the VMSAR to see if they have a minimum number of hours. Then calculate how many hours you spent in those 3 months and measure it against those requirements.

EDIT: And, if you're looking for an idea of your chances rather than minimum needed to reply, the Accepted Stats threads are a great place to start.

I bought new glasses today. Two pairs, actually, one regular and one sunglasses. Can't wait to get them!

Zero - absolutely zero - glasses look good on me. Doubly for sunglasses. I've literally gone through racks with friends and found none. 🙁 So jealous of people that they work for!

I realized about a week ago that I'm about to be kicked off my mom's health plan (age limit), so I'd better get whatever I can out of it while I can. The two pairs came to $400, and $80 for the eye exam. Her plan covered the exam, and $150 of the glasses. I'm not going down without a fight!

It'll be so nice to have sunglasses again. I had a pair awhile back, and couldn't afford it last time I got new glasses.

Same reason I did it too... my insurance is up July 13th 🙁

I really need prescription sunglasses. I'm okay driving without my glasses, but feel better with them, especially if I'm going somewhere I haven't been before. (I don't have any restrictions on my license.) But I always (if it's at all sunny) wear sunglasses while driving. Should really look into being able to wear both at the same time. :/

Yay! That sounds so nice. I love being able to hear bird sounds outside my window. Especially waking up to birds chirping in the morning! 😍 Makes having to get up early just a tiny bit easier!

Hahaha.
But really, if I can sleep through cats begging for a 5 am snack, I can sleep through a bird song.

I envy you :uhno:. I can't sleep through a slight breeze 4 miles away 🙄

I once slept through an ice storm sending a big tree branch crashing onto the roof above my bed. 🙄

Oh my gosh! That's getting to the scary point of a deep sleep!
I don't think I could sleep through that, but almost anything up to that point, I'm good with. At least my alarms almost always wake me up.

I just wear sunglasses over my glasses if I don't have my contacts in. It's very attractive...😛

I've tried this. 😳 They don't fit together on my head.
Me neither. A couple of years ago I had a pair of glasses with magnetic sunglasses that just clipped to the front. Those were nice.

I know they also make clip-on sunglasses, but my mother obsessively wears a pair of those and they are slightly butt-ugly and I can't get past that association. :/

These came with the frames and they went together nicely. 🙂 But yeah, some clip-on ones... ugh!

Can't. All I think about is my grandparents
