had a phone interview today that went well enough that I will be meeting with them in person in the next week😀

yay! After all your trials and troubles, I will think good thoughts for you!👍😀:luck:😍

I LOVE Paris! A lot of people there speak English so you really shouldn't have much of a problem. As long as you try a little French you should be fine. At least know a few phrases, including "Je ne parle pas francais" and "ou sont les toilettes?". At restaurants if you want to order water, make sure you order un carafe d'eau which gets you a pitcher of water rather than the much more expensive bottled water. I recommend purchasing a small map of the metro to keep with you at all times. I had one that was a postcard and used it for navigation. Go to the Eiffel Tower at night because that's when it lights up and that is pretty awesome. I have been to Paris twice and speak and understand French pretty well, so if you have any questions please PM me. Paris is one of my favorite places, ever.

Oh! And there is a metal circle with a star in it on the ground near Notre Dame. Stand on it and make a wish!

Thanks for the advice! I took french all through high school and while I forgot the majority of stuff, I at least know the major things I'll need to travel. Although I'm sure my pronunciation will be terrible 🙄 I'll probably PM you though!

I talked to my parents this weekend and it went really well! While I don't need their permission to travel by myself, I definitely want them to feel comfortable with it. They agreed that it's something I should do and they are fully supporting me (as long as I do some things like call them every day) 😀 Now I can book my flights! I am so crazy excited! I doesn't quite feel real yet though.

👍 Trips are awesome! I'm doing a major Asia adventure with my dad as a graduation present/celebration of a summer with nothing important to do. We've booked our flights and I look at the itinerary and I'm so excited! 😀

Forgot to mention in my PM - beware the phone booths! Some have sticky doors and I got stuck in a glass and metal booth for about 20 minutes in sunny, sunny Paris.

As our very belated Valentine's Day dinner, the bf and I cooked a tasty tasty dinner of texas chili and honey cornbread together tonight. And the bf made sinfully sugary candied blood orange peels for dessert. He also brought ingredients to make yogurt parfaits, but I think we're both too full for that tonight.

The downside is that since we didn't get to start cooking until nearly 8pm, we didn't sit down and eat until 10:30pm. Seeing how tired and grumpy I was when faced with the giant mess that is now my kitchen, bf has locked me in my bedroom and I'm under orders to stay here and relax while he does the dishes and cleans up the kitchen himself. Little does he know that there's a delicious bottle of mead waiting in the fridge for us to share when he's done! 😍

I'm new and have a ways to go until I apply, but I like this forum and the people on it already. 😀

Have fun! I loved Paris. 🙂 The best advice I got was to ask "may I speak English" instead of "do you speak English".

Fav story from our trip was the awesome shopkeeper who was helping us, looked at a woman who asked her "Do you speak English here?" (Insert obnoxiously loud Texas accent here), turned and winked at my mother and I and said "No, no madam". Mom and I died trying not to laugh before the woman was gone.

100% on midterm, 100% on final = 100% in epidemiology class! yeah its just epi and its just 1 credit, but it feels fantastic and i so rarely get 100s let alone 100% overall! :soexcited:

Roommate is officially moving out beginning of March! :soexcited::banana::zip:

That means I'll have more bills, but the house is super cheap (under $600 for everything), so it's completely doable. Especially, if I get my management job back, which is highly likely!

Kicking butt in vet school this semester. And my Callie is coming back tomorrow--hopefully cured of all poopy problems!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!! :soexcited:

For the first time in a long time, things are finally going RIGHT with my dogs' health! My mom's pup no longer looks like ground beef - his incisions are healing and the swelling is much improved - and my chronic renal dog 🙂love: love her) has the best BUN and Creatinine values she's had in months (34 and 3.4, down from 100+/6+). When I read her test results I squealed and did a little dance. 10 months of renal failure and doing FANTASTIC! 👍

Yay! 🙂

As I was wandering outside with my dogs to figure out why there are medical examiners and forensic units at my apartment building (see rant thread) I ran into the maintenance man. He was petting my male and said "wow you're much nicer than I ever thought you'd be." He said he came in to fix my blinds one day and almost shat himself at how scary his bark was and that he wouldn't stop barking and growling until he left. He told the girl standing with us that if you ever heard him bark you would never walk within 100 feet of my apartment ever again.
Yep, that's the goal 👍
Good boy 😀

That's so awesome everyone's pets are doing well. It's a great feeling. I'm weaning mine off his expensive medication (it ended up going generic last week so I got three weeks worth for the price of 24 hours worth of name brand stuff). This is the same medication we tried to take him off a few weeks ago and had to take him back into the ER. So far things are going well and it's been four days.

Sourdough bread. Extra virgin olive oil. Balsamic vinegar. Cherry tomatoes.

Don't mind me, just stuffing my face.

I'm going to be a mentor for youth volunteer at my local shelter. :soexcited: I'd been wanting to volunteer but they don't have orientations very often. Turns out they have one this Thursday! I'm so excited because I get to do species specific training, and since I hope to ultimately specialise in cats and feline behaviour, I'll be working helping youth volunteer with kitty cats! Honestly, what better experience to have volunteering at the shelter than combining my love of cats and working with kids? My love for psychology and vet med are coming together here.

Got my new charger so my laptop can actually charge, my new phone case came in the mail, and I got an acceptance to LSU! All good things. 🙂

Have run a 5k while on my last two C25K runs, and have an actual (timed, legit) 5k on Saturday. 🙂 I'm slow, but running! 😀

Im studying for me entrepreneurship law exam and my cat/kitten is curled around all of my study materials so she can sleep on my lap. 😍

Since I no longer have to worry about boosting my vet hours for another application cycle, today I called and turned down the crappy soul-sucking job that I didn't really want. I'm going to hold out for something better. 😀

The fact that I'm actually excited about this tells me I made the right choice.

dog boarding? 47$ a night??? I hope the beds have real feathers and the floor is heated/cooled and unlimited bones and toys and television.

I pay 7/night/dog. a kennel with a bed is all mine get. haha.

I have 2, 70 lb dogs. Around here that's a good price lol. It's a suite thing with lots of amenities and pool play time blah blah. They have television and cameras in each room so I can watch them 🙄 I don't really care about the suite part but it was actually cheaper than boarding them separately. A cage and someone to walk them is good enough for me, I just went with cheapest lol

$47 is a freaking steal where I'm from. One night for a big dog (70lb+) is $60 at my clinic, more if there are meds to be given.

A newfoundland was found as a stray wandering the streets carrying a stuffed elephant around with him and brought to my shelter. I wrote on all his paperwork that the elephant had to stay with him and it actually worked out. Today he was supposed to go to surgery so I came in early to put his toy in a bag and write a note about it. He was crying when I took it from him. When he came back from surgery there was no elephant. Apparently one of the ladies that works in the medical department saw the poor state it was in and stuffed it with some cotton balls, stitched it up, and ran it through their little washer and dryer. Mr. Newfie has his cute little pink elephant back and apparently a wealthy donor is interested in adopting him so he'll have a wonderful life with lots of stuffed animals.

Oh my god that is so so cute.
