well i will be sure to mention this cheesecake deliciousness in my letter of intent! 😉

actually UF is in my top 3 for 4th year so who knows, maybe i'll get to enjoy some cheesecake along with all the other great aspects of the program!

Awesome! Let me know if you have any questions about UF. The German chocolate cheesecake is worth it alone 😉

So..... Blaming emiloo on this. Mini chocolate cheesecake and mini blackberry and strawberry tart.

this is a really pathetic fact, but i ENJOY studying for tests because it means i pull out all of my pretty pens and highlighters to mark up my outlines and turn them into beautiful works of art

I got a brand new set of 20 super fine felt tip pens that make me happy to re-write my notes and study. Unfortunately it makes the OCD that I have worked very hard to beat into submission raise it's ugly head. But I am taming it once again! Now things are just pretty.

I love unexpected surprises! Apparently SCAVMA approved my travel grant to AAEP (from 4 months ago) and I got a big ole' check in the mail! It's sort of like winning the lottery. The lottery that only I paid into and bought 348 1$ tickets for. I guess it's not at all like winning the lottery.

I got my furkids back from my parents today. I missed them so much.

I am starting to feel better. I am less tired, more alert. I didn't sleep that well last night because of the new cat but I am not dying from fatigue. I am getting excited. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! It makes me really want to go back to school in the fall, but it makes more sense for me to wait another year (pre-reqs will expire and I will be allowed to retake them)

I don't know if is the B-12, tyrosine, or being off gluten for the last 3 days.

Hooray! I can finally post here instead of the rant thread... my husband has been a bit down in the dumps lately but must be feeling better because he just got us tickets to see an awesome Smiths cover band on Valentine's day! Wooooo 😀

Awesome! My bf is obsessed with the Smiths/Morrissey! We had concert tickets for his Asheville and Atlanta show, but they have been postponed twice. He is just itching to go.

Awesome! We keep missing Morrissey every time he's in town (realize tickets are on sale too late and then it's sold out) but we WILL see him soon.

There is a pretty high likelihood that I'm going to Madagascar for 3 months this fall to do primate research! I was hoping to go to vet school, but I'll take this as part of an awesome unplanned gap year! So excited!!!

Never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but...I totally kicked a** on my anatomy exam! BOOYAH! :soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:

The way my financial aid works I couldn't take a gap year between undergrad and vet school, but I really wish I could have! That sounds like it will be amazing. 😍

The vet clinic I love that doesn't take preceptors is taking me on as a preceptor!! A very good vet friend of mine put in the good word for me and now I have a preceptor scheduled! Mixed animal, rural practice, in my favorite state, here I come 🙂

That's amazing!! Congrats 🙂

Edit: I love my mechanic! His wife is awesome and they have a shop dog that they picked up from one of the local shelters who they just adore, and it shows. They also don't charge me to figure out why my check engine light comes on AND they shut off the stupid sensor that claims my parking break is always on.

I got a B on my anatomy exam! It may not sound like much, but as the first of the semester it's a nice start.

I got a 100% on my molecular biology of cancer exam - I thought I did well, but did not expect that!! Such a great way to start my last semester, especially when I'm taking 21 credits! Also went to my physics professor's office hours to clarify something before an exam tomorrow and ended up chatting with her for ~half an hour, during which she offered to write a rec letter for me for the next round of applications. I didn't expect to like physics and she's made me love it (it's a 2 part course where I go and she teaches both parts), and it meant a lot that she made that offer.

orcagirl, good job!!!

Thanks! And congrats to you as well. That's pretty awesome.

I've been wanting to go to Paris for the longest time and I'm finally planning a trip for this summer! 😍 so excited! I want to go at the end of may because I think it'll be a bit cheaper than in august. Now I just have to convince my parents that I'll be fine going to a foreign country that speaks a different language so I can book my flights! 😀

In a similar vein with prevetdreamer (which sounds awesome!)... I'm thinking I might be going to South Africa this summer. Working out the budget and whatnot, but I think it's going to happen. 😍

I LOVE Paris! A lot of people there speak English so you really shouldn't have much of a problem. As long as you try a little French you should be fine. At least know a few phrases, including "Je ne parle pas francais" and "ou sont les toilettes?". At restaurants if you want to order water, make sure you order un carafe d'eau which gets you a pitcher of water rather than the much more expensive bottled water. I recommend purchasing a small map of the metro to keep with you at all times. I had one that was a postcard and used it for navigation. Go to the Eiffel Tower at night because that's when it lights up and that is pretty awesome. I have been to Paris twice and speak and understand French pretty well, so if you have any questions please PM me. Paris is one of my favorite places, ever.

Oh! And there is a metal circle with a star in it on the ground near Notre Dame. Stand on it and make a wish!

Came to some realizations about life the past few days and was happy for a bit driving home today. Not like a normal happy, but a happy I haven't really realized in a while. Don't really know how to describe it, but it felt good.

Plus we got a hospital kitten today, I think? There was talk that I didn't realize was a 100% serious and then there were pictures of him driving home with two other techs and he's beyond adorable. Very excited to meet him! It'll be weird having a different hospital cat, though.

So I didn't post it yesterday, not really sure why. But it's that awkward moment when you are having a clicker review and the professor starts to accept answers and then decides we haven't covered the material yet. Before he stops the polling two people answer, one is right and the other is wrong, and you are the one that is right.

Totally was. This whole respiratory physiology is really clicking with me. It helps that I have a dog who had a suspected heartworm thromboembolus and so I want to learn about what happened to him. But it also seems pretty logical to me.

No... it does not... it is not logical and it gave me a headache last night and I hate it.

Seriously. Stupid cows. If they have lung problems, I'm just going to eat them. Same goes for sheep and goats and pigs.

The small animal we've had so far wasn't too terrible but the large animal is making me want to cry. And I LIKE large animals.

Bf and I had our valentine's celebration today. We cooked dinner together, and it was sooooo nice. 😍

I had another riding lesson yesterday and out of nowhere I see my instructor dragging the poles out. She ended up having me walk and trot over them, which was really fun until the horse decided to slam my knee into the fence. Regardless, it was awesome!

Had a fantastic day today. Got to do some herd work and vaccinate cows and calves. And I got to castrate a calf!

Now I just found out I got into the summer research internship here at the vet school! I have something to do for the summer! AND it's a paid internship! :soexcited:

I'm late to the :hardy:, but yay!!! Rural mixed is the best. 😍
