I started working out in the mornings before class and it's really helped me feel more energetic. 🙂
We got a few of our engagement photos back yesterday and I'm very happy with them. 🙂
Going to my cousin's wedding in NC in two weeks and just found out my fiancé will be joining 🙂
Yay, yay, and yay.

First vet school exam grades are posted- 95% Immunology. **** yeah!

I got accepted to the college and bachelor program that I applied to. So I guess I got that goin for me.

My sister is at DragonCon this weekend, and she called to give me an update. It sounds like she's having a great time--she got to meet the Mythbusters and saw Vic Mignona at a panel--and she got a signed Sherlock poster for me. I'm so happy she's having a good time, and it makes me smile that she's thinking of me. 🙂

I can't wait to be done with vet school so we can go again. I'm super mad that I missed thos year. One of my favorite authors was the guest on the live Sword and Laser podcast. :-(

Got a notice that I'm getting an award at the awards night in October. Not sure what it is, but yay! 😀 (Though there's a small part of me that's wondering if they're just representing the renewable scholarship I got last year.😕)

A scholarship was randomly deposited into my financial aid account. Darn! 😀

My minpin, Mojo, just made the funniest face I've ever seen a dog make. I laughed until I cried... wish I could have captured it on the camera.

Is he doing better Jam?

Yes, thanks for asking! He is still on liver protectant medications and his ALKP and ALT are still elevated, but his azotemia has resolved and his urine specific gravity is 1.028 vs being at 1.011.

But he is playful and happy again, which is great to see! And it appears that BI-Vetmedica might be paying for his treatment, which would be amazing.

This is a bit belated, but I just had to share. 😀

As a going away present for me, my boyfriend and his mom built a giant scratching post/climbing tree for my cat. It stands 5 feet tall, includes two cat beds, has the thickest most plush carpet ever, and looks like something you'd pay several hundred dollars for from Petco. And they built it themselves from scratch! My cat absolutely loves it!!!

SDN won't let me upload, but here's a picture: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8uejmgdl5b3w7sa/IMG_20130901_165722_349.jpg

Dude, that's fantastic, it's way better than the ones from Petco!

Love it! Your cat looks so proud. 😀 I want something like that for Kuromi, but I'm not sure where I'd put it and I lack a significant other with construction skills (or any significant other actually ).

He said it wasn't particularly difficult. They bought a book full of cat tree plans and picked one (the most elaborate one in the book, I suspect) and it only took them a few days to put it all together. Apparently angling the boards properly to make the beds was the most difficult part, but carpeting the thing took the longest.

I'm trying to convince him to make a duplicate for my mom's house, since all three of her cats loved it too: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7x1uzupj235kk72/IMG_20130816_211126_159.jpg

Aw that's great! And wow, it's be awesome if they'd pay for his treatment :xf:

You'd think that sneaking in the, "I'm a vet student and when I'm a vet, I need to feel confident giving patients your vaccines..." idea would at least help nudge them the right way... :meanie:

That's the man reason I think they are paying for it. Along with wanting the university to continue using their vaccines.

The main problem in not paying it lies in I adopted him at 9 months and know nothing of his puppy vaccine history.

we got financial approval to go to IVECCS today! nothing like last minute booking of flights from another country, but wow! can't believe I'm going to be gone for 5 whole days and in the US!!! 😱 😍

I'm burning all of my candles and it smells amazing in my apartment right now. 🙂

The lights are all off so my rabbit is just sneaking around the room, occasionally nudging my toes from under the ottoman. She's an adorable little monster.

Candles...that's what I need. I don't understand how cat pee can possibly be so potent; one small spot yesterday and my whole room still smells.

A scholarship was randomly deposited into my financial aid account. Darn! 😀

That happened to me at the beginning of summer. I emailed our financial aid guy about it because I didn't want to pay it back since it was an OBVIOUS mistake in my mind (a lot of money and I am....NOT a top academically ranked student...), and he sent back a 'congratulations on the scholarship' email like a week later, haha.

Yep I did the same thing lol. He said, "I was gonna send an email out next week but you beat me to it" 😳
Mine wasn't a very big scholarship, but I'll take it! 🙂

Awesome! That's great news to hear! 👍

This.

Also, my rave for the day...Survived my first day teaching lab! I didn't make any grievous errors, I knew the answers to everyone's questions, and it looks like I'll have a good bunch of students this semester. At least for this section. Two more to go, though, so that could change. 😉

enyzmatic cleaners are your friend, too.

Yep. I went heavy on the cleaner and left my window open all last night, seems fine now.

But then the little bastard pooped in here this morning, got it right away though. He went in my other roommate's room the other day as well. And threw up in his owner's room this evening. I don't know what's up with the sudden rebellion, he's never done any of that before

Not blaming the roomie though, animals are just weird sometimes...

I'm fairly happy that I finally submitted my application last night.

I have the feeling that I will be getting an apologetic e-mail from a professor who kept telling me his eLoR would be ready "tomorrow" ....four days ago. I didn't need his recommendation so I deleted his contact info. He's a nice guy, but he's being so absent-minded I just couldn't risk him not meeting the final deadline.

I suspect he might be having some medical issues, but it would be rude to ask, so I'll just let it slide. If I have to reapply next year, I know not to ask him. Not a great piece of information to gain, but still helpful.

Probs needs to be seen for a workup

I found my wallet today I thought was missing in my locker at school, then I did great on the micro quiz we had, then got out of physio lab early and now I'm home and my package got here! It was a frame for a poster I got at comic-con (12x24, awkward size) and had to order one. It fits perfectly!! I'm so excited- today has been a good day.

Now to just study for those 3 tests I have the rest of the week.

Over 1,000 rescued battery-caged hens are being flown into NY today (via private jet...history's first!) and I'll be there helping to receive, vet, and settle them into their new digs! So excited 😀 👍

Fun! I helped around 600 hens get situated at the sanctuary I was at/prepare them for adoption and to be moved to other sanctuaries. I love grooming chickens now lol

👍 They are actually re"cooping" at another sanctuary overnight as they were a bit overheated from their flight, but they'll be here soon 😀

Watched a hammerhead hunt today while out paddleboarding. It swam under my board a few times. I really missed having a board.

The doctor who never compliments anyone on anything complimented my fecal direct slide today. I was actually in shock.

My polytrauma patient that has been non ambulatory in the hind end since her surgery yesterday WALKED! And not just walked- she ran, and shook and jumped back in her cage like she was never broken!. Made my day! I was starting to think we had made things worse since she walked relatively well (considering the multiple problems) before we did surgery.

Now, if she would just stop trying to eat everyone that reaches into her kennel.....

I got to be back in the vet clinic today! It was nice, I just got to hang out with the vet and learn from her. I also have not lost the ability to draw blood (despite it being over a year since I have even been in a clinic.) 😀 😀

well done! 👍

Yesterday was our first anatomy written / practical.. Every year the 2nd years throw a big party for the first years the night of the exam and it was FLIPPING AMAZING!!! Open bar for 4 hours and lots of food, dancing and celebratory cigars!!! They also played a slide show of all the first years with baby pictures and stuff our parents sent in without us knowing.. Probably the best part of all was the parody video they made that was Lord of The Rings themed and instead of destroying a ring they were trying to destroy a Disection Probe... It's the best vet school parody video I have ever seen! I hope they post it on YouTube so that I can share it!!
