hows the baby duck?My quiet morning shadowing in our exotics service turned into a mess of chicken/duck emergencies and small mammal surgeries... lots of fun when I don't have to do the paperwork! 🙂
Not walking, but BAR and looking good otherwise! She's is absolutely ridiculous and adorable with her tiny little fluffy wings.hows the baby duck?
We tapped her joint and got some super gross chocolate-milk looking fluid that was sent for cytology/culture and mycoplasma PCR, and she went home in the afternoon on broad spectrum antibiotics. I'm super bummed I didn't get to meet her owner, because apparently she was a very fancy young Southern woman who just really loves her duck. 😀
Have an interview to be a resident director at my undergrad next week! Living rent/bills free while on salary? Can anyone say, "stuffed savings account," with me!?
Found out today that I won the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists student research award! This means I get to present my research at a national conference full of really smart people. Over the top excited!!!!
Again, very happy for you! I'm glad that its you that won over me. 🙂

After sustaining many injuries, my IKEA dresser is finally all set up. 🙂
Hey! Rave # 1, figured out how to post in the new app.
Rave #2, SGU just sent my clinical app to Minnesota! I'll be joining the c/o 2016 in Jan and finishing with the c/o 2017. (If I can pass the interview.)

MN makes you do the same behavioral interview that their incoming students do. I'm hoping @LetItSnow knows how to make me not sound crazy.they have interviews now?? or are you applying to transfer?
Other schools don't need interviews.

As long as you're a high-functioning one, you'll probably be ok 😉Deepest fear: but what if I am a sociopath.
your baked goods are far too amazing and tasty for that to be the case 😉Deepest fear: but what if I am a sociopath.

It's officially shorts weather here, Friday night I get a free dinner thanks to our annual meeting at the clinic with our Merial rep, and I have the weekend off work to act in a short film my boyfriend is making for a 48-hour film challenge!
Awesome morning today. And this happened:
Mentor: How are you at placing IV catheters?
Me: Bad.
Mentor: Awesome, you're doing this one.
And I nailed it.

This little guy was born last night, took him ten hours to figure out how to nurse but he finally figured it out! Had to tube him a couple of times but he is in the clear now!!! All he needs is a name.
Cute!

He looks like someone poured milk all over him!
Milkshake.
Hercules.
Chicken Strip.
I'm bad at naming things. And hungry.

I just got my first Vet Med paycheck and it isn't minimum wage! Somehow I forgot to ask about that during the whole hiring process thingy...

My federal and state tax returns were waiting for me in my bank account this morning! Must resist the urge to shop....must save....
I love it when I impulsively buy my dog a toy, and it turns into a big hit! He's been carrying it all over the place and playing fetch with it. So cute!

My dog is too gentle with his toys. I had to cancel his BarkBox subscription because they're just piling up.
hahaha i wish that was our problem! when my dog and roommates dog play, they aim for guinness world record destruction! has led to us not buying them toys - Sampson has a few that are just for him.My dog is too gentle with his toys. Mine also just doesn't fully understand playing with someone else. I've tried training him to fetch and to make toys more valuable, but if I reward with food, he stops caring about the toy and just stares at me and offers behaviors to get him the treat. We've made some progress but it's going very, very slowly. The only toy he will destroy is a tennis ball.
BF's dog is a pro at destroying toys in under 30min. On a recommendation from my boss, I got him this toy. He broke the squeaker the first night, but it's been 3 weeks and the ball is still going strong and is one of his favorite toys. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EU...&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=neef+dog+toy
hahahaha oh dogs!! pretty sure sampson would be the same way! in fact, if you give him a treat but pause after he performs whatever behavior you asked for, he'll start doing others trying to figure out what you want hahaMine also just doesn't fully understand playing with someone else. sampson and anja like that satisfying ripping sound of popping seams. sampson only likes tennis balls. if it is spherical and any other material, he's skeptical and uninterested, silly dog!BF's dog is a pro at destroying toys in under 30min. The old lady dog has always loved plush toys the most, but the younger rocks-in-head dog loves to sit and pick plush toys apart bit by bit. Nothing last more than a day, even the 'tough' plush toys with the sewed on edging and quilted reinforcement. We sometimes buy the non-stuffed toys and take the squeakers out. They last a day or two before becoming tiny shreds.
Most productive weekend ever! Or if not ever, at least on clinics! 12 miles of hiking logged between the 2 days with the dog (and another 3 at the park on Friday) and I accomplished every single one of my to-do tasks, a list of 15 things!! That never happens haha. Clearly I am not working hard enough on clinics currently! (I'm not, I'm just playing with animals for 2 weeks without any responsibilities!)
Sitting on my deck in a swim suit with some beer to enjoy what's left of today's beautiful weather.
BUT SPOILERS! I can't watch it until tomorrow after this exam that I'm procrastinating for!this

Thor is on television. Which means I can bask in the beauty of Loki Hiddleston.
I got the resident director position at my undergrad!!!! 😀 I don't know what building I will be getting yet, but they know my preferences, so I am hoping that my previous experience of being an RA with them will give me an edge and I'll get the building I want. But I have a real adult job starting in August!!! 😀
And tonight, Iron Man 2 is on, so I can continue to bask. This time in the dual gorgeousness of RDJ and Scarlett Johansson. (Though whenever I see Black Widow, I get a small sad, because I badly need her to get her own movie...)

Just had a really nice conversation with my mom about something we don't see eye to eye on. I was expecting it to be not-so-great so I've got the warm fuzzies about how we ended it 🙂.
I'm excessively excited about the really yummy homemade bbq sauce I just made for a marinade.
Received a nice thank you from a classmate who I was assistant surgeon for during our SA Surgery Elective where we do an exploratory and OVE/OVH on cats. She said that I really helped things go smoothly and kept her at ease. I'm glad to hear that I don't suck at trying to teach/give tips and maybe will be comfortable teaching other fellow students to spay during the next year at the shelter we get to volunteer at.
