hows the baby duck?
Not walking, but BAR and looking good otherwise! She's is absolutely ridiculous and adorable with her tiny little fluffy wings.

We tapped her joint and got some super gross chocolate-milk looking fluid that was sent for cytology/culture and mycoplasma PCR, and she went home in the afternoon on broad spectrum antibiotics. I'm super bummed I didn't get to meet her owner, because apparently she was a very fancy young Southern woman who just really loves her duck. 😀

Found out today that I won the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists student research award! This means I get to present my research at a national conference full of really smart people. Over the top excited!!!!

Again, very happy for you! I'm glad that its you that won over me. 🙂

It's officially shorts weather here, Friday night I get a free dinner thanks to our annual meeting at the clinic with our Merial rep, and I have the weekend off work to act in a short film my boyfriend is making for a 48-hour film challenge!

This little guy was born last night, took him ten hours to figure out how to nurse but he finally figured it out! Had to tube him a couple of times but he is in the clear now!!! All he needs is a name.

He looks like someone poured milk all over him!

Milkshake.
Hercules.
Chicken Strip.

I'm bad at naming things. And hungry.

hahaha i wish that was our problem! when my dog and roommates dog play, they aim for guinness world record destruction! has led to us not buying them toys - Sampson has a few that are just for him.

Mine also just doesn't fully understand playing with someone else. I've tried training him to fetch and to make toys more valuable, but if I reward with food, he stops caring about the toy and just stares at me and offers behaviors to get him the treat. We've made some progress but it's going very, very slowly. The only toy he will destroy is a tennis ball.

hahahaha oh dogs!! pretty sure sampson would be the same way! in fact, if you give him a treat but pause after he performs whatever behavior you asked for, he'll start doing others trying to figure out what you want haha
BF's dog is a pro at destroying toys in under 30min. On a recommendation from my boss, I got him this toy. He broke the squeaker the first night, but it's been 3 weeks and the ball is still going strong and is one of his favorite toys. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EUV6SEM/ref=mp_s_a_1_sc_1?qid=1428855610&sr=8-1-spell&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=neef dog toy
sampson and anja like that satisfying ripping sound of popping seams. sampson only likes tennis balls. if it is spherical and any other material, he's skeptical and uninterested, silly dog!

The old lady dog has always loved plush toys the most, but the younger rocks-in-head dog loves to sit and pick plush toys apart bit by bit. Nothing last more than a day, even the 'tough' plush toys with the sewed on edging and quilted reinforcement. We sometimes buy the non-stuffed toys and take the squeakers out. They last a day or two before becoming tiny shreds.

We have a destuffing issue in our house, too. So they allowed most stuffed animals, but for a treat we will go to goodwill and buy a bunch of stuffed animals with no beans in them and let them go to town

Most productive weekend ever! Or if not ever, at least on clinics! 12 miles of hiking logged between the 2 days with the dog (and another 3 at the park on Friday) and I accomplished every single one of my to-do tasks, a list of 15 things!! That never happens haha. Clearly I am not working hard enough on clinics currently! (I'm not, I'm just playing with animals for 2 weeks without any responsibilities!)

Booked a hotel for my bother's wedding. First time booking a hotel, and mine room is better than his hotel's rooms

We got one of our anesthesia professors to prank call a classmate because she accidentally overslept her alarm and missed class. It was freaking amazing. I love my school.

Received a nice thank you from a classmate who I was assistant surgeon for during our SA Surgery Elective where we do an exploratory and OVE/OVH on cats. She said that I really helped things go smoothly and kept her at ease. I'm glad to hear that I don't suck at trying to teach/give tips and maybe will be comfortable teaching other fellow students to spay during the next year at the shelter we get to volunteer at.
