After 3+ years of our dryer only working when it feels like it, we are finally getting a new one!!! I have no idea when it's coming, but I can't wait to be able to wash my clothes and know that I will be able to dry them immediately afterward.

Unfortunately, I also won't be able to do laundry until the new one comes.

So I somehow have never gone to an Ugly Christmas Sweater party. Well the bf's house is hosting one and I actually have off and can go. I ordered a sweater from Etsy and it is the tackiest/ugliest thing ever and beyond amazing. I am so excited to wear it.

Also, I leave for Spain on Wednesday!

So my dad is here visiting to help me out (aka make sure my dog doesn't get neglected) while I am on Emergency & Critical Care and taking the NAVLE. So last night after the NAVLE my dad says "hey I'm going to best buy to look at TVs"... totally believable since my mom is getting a new TV on black friday and they've been researching brands and stuff the whole time he has been here. So around 7 he goes out and by 8:30 I'm like... well I don't need to study any more might as well go to bed and watch Netflix. So I'm chilling in my room shoving chocolate in my face, my pup is munching a chewy treat, and I hear the front door open and think "cool he's back." I wasn't even going to leave my room but then I though nah, I'll go say goodnight and let him say goodnight to my pup. As I come out I hear him around the corner in the kitchen locking the back door and I just assumed he was checking the lock because he does that like 75 times a day. I barely get the words "hey how'd it go" out of my mouth when MY SISTER walks around the corner and says "long layover but pretty good." I was so shocked like my brain cannot compute and then started bawling immediately. She's here all week! I'm so happy! And now I cannot trust any of my family members because they very elaborately had me fooled into thinking this was not happening, like the thought never even entered my mind. Such a good first Thanksgiving back in the US.

tl;dr: My whole family pulled off an elaborate scheme to surprise me with a post-NAVLE visit from my sister! And I am SO HAPPY!

Now too bad I'm on ECC and working 12 hour shifts all week -_- luckily I have off the day after Thanksgiving so I will get in some quality time with her before she flies home.

I have one of those! He's still not a big snuggler, but he's gotten a little more willing as he's gotten older... he was a real snot at like a year and a half, but outgrew that stage starting around age 2.

My older dog is 10.... I consider it “snuggling” if she is laying within three feet of me. She has a personal space “bubble” LOL

Had a stupiiiiid long drive today (11 hr) to get to an externship, but was actually manageable with the help of audible, which I haven't ever used before today. Thank you, Handmaid's Tale, for being an awesome first audio book! 😍😍

(Not done yet so no spoilers!)

Audible was the best for those long drives or long commutes!

I discovered a podcast app as well, was super easy to download and listen later.

Speaking of, who has awesome podcast recommendations?

Loved the TV series, so I bought the book, wasn't impressed. I didn't care for the writing style at all.

Honestly I agree, I think I would think of it differently if I read it. Having it narrated really meshed well with the writing style in my opinion.

Sawbones is a great one! It's a really entertaining podcast about medical history recorded by a lady who is a MD and her husband.
I was going to recommend Sawbones too! There’s over 200 episodes now, so definitely enough to last awhile. Most of them are very interesting and entertaining! I also like Criminal, and Stranglers and S Town were also very well done.

S Town was very well done. I listened to it after Serial kind of expecting the same thing (since the same team made both) and was a little thrown the first episode or two since it's not really the same at all. But I really enjoyed it by the time I was done. (Also Serial if you haven't listened to it previously. I just got started with podcast listening this summer when I drove cross country twice in 2 weeks (5000 miles, yeah!) so I am very late to the party, I know.)

If you enjoy true crime, My Favorite Murder is pretty entertaining.

The other recommendations are great, but honestly my old tried and true standby is This American Life. Radiolab is a close second.

Also, if you're at all into table top gaming/D&D, check out The Adventure Zone. It's hilarious.

MY CLINIC FINALLY HIRED A NEW VET! I AM SO EXCITED!!
Seriously, this is amazing. We've been talking about it for almost a year now, and the past few months especially have been so crazy. We are growing like crazy-- I personally am adding an average of 20-25 new clients a month (other doctors also adding new people regularly), I'm double booked, can't even remember the last time I had an appropriate amount of time blocked off for a medical workup and having a 5th vet is going to make a huge difference. It's also going to mean I get more time to focus on my interests! I can't wait to finally have the time to enjoy my job again lol

There’s like three or four Great Danes that go to the dog park I go to regularly and they’re humongous. I call them the pony dogs. They also seem to really like Chai.

I bet that’s really funny to see the pony dogs play with Chai.

The very first dog she got the balls to chase off was a pony dog. It was pretty much the best thing ever.

Tied with her dragging a blind husky around with his leash and the poor confused dog being like 'wait what's going on'.

I won a grant to fund my research project today! To be honest almost every resident’s project gets funded since doing an original research project is a program requirement, but this grant was outside of the normal resident funding channel and they awarded me the entire amount we asked for.

Wahoo!! I do not miss writing grants. At all. Not my forte.

After barely maintaining a c in my organic chemistry 2 class, I finally got an A on an exam. I am ecstatic!! I've been studying so hard, and it has been five years since I took orgo 1, so I'm ridiculously rusty. On top of that, the professor decided the next exam before finals is a take home! Final exams are next week and I'm no longer petrified!
