RAVE HERE thread

yeah but if you’re not actually OUTSIDE it’s fine. You learn to manage it/ plus you were only in Texas for a very short time and weren’t able to acclimate to it!
Okay

But imagine this and tell me how bad outside in Texas really is:

It's 85 degrees outside

You're sitting on a porch swing in the shade, with sunglasses and a sun dress on

You're reading a book and soft music is playing

You have citronella candles going and you're surrounded by flowering plants that you have just watered

You occasionally hear the calls of some warblers or doves

The wind ripples through every few minutes, bringing not just a breeze but a gentle rustling through the leaves and some polite tinkling from your windchimes

Okay but like
You can have this in Michigan too.

But not be melting while you’re sitting outside.

Ah yes, but you’re missing something. Don’t get me wrong, I love the South at evening/ at night, but can’t forget these lil guys

I’m not cold all the time. I just require a lower temperature to keep me warm. And too high of a temperature I get too hot and melt and die. How can you stand being that hot ALL the time?! 😱

Love cicada sounds! Unfortunately where I live we don't have nearly as many of them as y'all do back by Dallas/Fort Worth. We make up for it with lots of ocean sounds and goofy shorebirds

The high in CO today is 69 and I'm wearing a sweater and a jacket. Lol

Excuse you, that’s already been done. Get a new joke.

But you won’t freeze and die here if you’re wearing the right clothes. Guarantee it.

what are you doing to the rave thread?

I’m off today, basking in my bed. I refuse to think about tomorrow, just going to watch old grey’s anatomy episodes and Chef’s Table 😍
omg please talk to me about your thoughts on Chef's Table as you're watching it. I'm obsessed with it but all of my friends and family hate food shows and don't want to talk about them with me

I’ll meet you on FB messenger in a sec

Free shrugs! 😉

Also, some states will grant you licensed by reciprocity after you’ve had one for several years (2-5ish from what I’ve seen). You usually still have to take a laws exam if they have one, but you wouldn’t necessarily need to get your NAVLE scores from the NAVLE people and some stuff, but you do have to get letters that you’re in goof standing from any state you are/have been licensed in which can be a headache. One resident told me though that because she’d been licensed several years though, she wouldn’t have to take that NAVLE-esque portion of the California boards? I haven’t verified that though because I ha e no desire to practice in California.
As far as I'm aware you do, Cali is very strict that you know all our special deadly plants and such (cough yellow star thistle cough)

Oh hey I had to know about yellow star thistle too!

True. But you COULD fit 7 billion people in Texas, and everyone would have approximately 1000 square feet of their own! Not ideal, but doable! 😉
:lame:

Man it's a good thing different people like different climates, otherwise everyone would live in Texas...and I don't think anybody would appreciate that situation 😉
I'll stick to my parasites and my extreme heat, thank you very much
I'm sorry, I just don't compute how the armpit of the nation feels like it has any leg to stand on here. It doesn't matter if they mess with Texas, they mess with everyone, including national elections and themselves

You weren't brainwashed? 😱
There isn't enough brain bleach in the universe to convince Floridian children that their state is the best

Did you intentionally confuse Michigan for Ohio? Because if so...well played

That's because it's the Australia of the US.

Though I'm pretty sure technically Georgia is the Australia of the US. Where they sent the criminals and such, ya know.
I was referring more to the wide variety of creatures that can kill you there 😛

It still baffles me how people care about their states so much 😵
But also I think I'm allowed to just legitimately enjoy a place. I didn't like Texas (or, later, Arizona) very much growing up, but they've both grown on me a lot as I've gotten older and been able to recognize more than just the flaws in a place.

I think part of what makes places good isn't just the place in isolation, it's the investment and buy-in the people who live there and the people who are from there have in that place. I'm a part of the huge community of people from that place and part of my role is continually maintaining and/or re-shaping it so that other people can see what I enjoy about it too.

I'm not fond of the people who are from somewhere and talk constantly about how new people coming to it are ruining it (looking at you, "Colorado Native"s). Yes, too many people who don't understand the culture and history of a place may not understand what they're coming to, but you should see it as an opportunity to share your appreciation with them.

You just got all serious on me meathead  I don't care if people love where they're from. I'm just sayin it's not a competition 😉

I've been in the mood lately to veer silly conversations into serious conversations 😛

I don't think it's a competition. But I think a lot of people tend to act like you're totally crazy to like certain places and I don't know if I agree. 😉

Nah I don't think anyone is crazy to like wherever. I love Pittsburgh a lot, so I understand it. I just like to make fun of the like...marketing mentality lol or the idea that people are wrong for not liking certain places.

The Don't Mess With Texas thing actually started as an anti-littering campaign. I think most Texans have forgotten that by now though
