a huge scandal came out surrounding honey about how they actually do not save people money and they were stealing referral bonuses from people who were promoting the platform. paypal was being super sneaky

Completely forgot about this until you brought it up. The law suit was brought by the YouTuber, The Legal Eagle, right? I think the post it the journal podcast did a story on this

I am finally "graduating" from physical therapy this month. It has been a long time coming. I did 4 months of PT last school year that helped some but not too much and 4 months this school year that didn't meaningfully help at all. I had surgery on June 3 and have been making gains pretty consistently since. I finally got to let go of the crutches after 10 months of constant use at the end of last week. I have been using one or more crutches for so long that I have forgotten that I can carry things in both arms. It was really freeing to be able to walk into the library from the parking lot with no crutches for the first time today. 🙂 I am realistically still going to need one crutch for distance, but that’s okay.

Just arrived safely at my new home for the next 4 years, after trekking 3,000+ miles from one coast (literally, San Francisco) to another, to start vet school in a week 🙂 There was a lot of negativity from others since I took a pretty old vehicle but I effectively saved myself $7,000+ by doing it my way, after spending a thousand on emergency kit stuff and maintenance just to be prepared. I spent nearly 3 weeks on the road exploring as much as I could. I love all the views that I saw across the United States, and all the friends I made, and I'm excited to settle in and even though I know it'll kick me in the rear, I'm so excited to start school.

So jealous! We had the cats with us and wanted to get there ASAP. We said multiple times we would have stopped in a couple of cities, Niagara Falls, and meandered a bit more if we had time. And as far as an old vehicle, my spouse's 2012 Honda Fit made it half way across the country last year with zero issues, and their car before that was a 2002 Subaru Legacy stick shift that live for almost 20 years. Old vehicles will go a long way if you take care of them right.

Welcome to the East Coast! (From a true east coaster stuck in the midwest). Hopefully you're gonna love it.

I love that! I've had to move across the country 3 times and tried to make each trip enjoyable. My only regrets have been not spending more time as I went!

And congrats!

Got the first draft of new house plans back from the architect yesterday! There’s still a really long way to go and I may ultimately have to delay construction for a while to keep saving money, especially if the stupid tariffs continue, but it’s still fun to see the custom home dream starting to take shape and have something official on paper.

Can everyone please go vote for my gorgeous girl, Minnie? Idk why but you can apparently vote HOURLY 😂 the link *should* take you directly to her photo but if it doesn’t, she’s the black dapple longhaired dachshund in a red and white checkered dress in front of a field of sunflowers!

Done! She is super cute and deserves to win, @SkiOtter! I love that background too! 🙂

Once when I was in 7th grade, my English teacher's dog actually won a cutest dog contest to be in a commercial. People who grew up around Chicago in the 00s might remember the dog commercials on channel 26 that said, "This is Rosie. Rosie likes Everybody Loves Raymond. 7 pm on Thursdays on WCIU the U."

Baby looks good on ultrasound!!! Actually measuring pretty big and they were asking me if I gave them the correct dates for my last period 😂 Was crazy watching it jump around and wave on the US.

Pregnancy math is dumb cause they assume conception two weeks later based on averages. I personally hate pregnancy math and think they should just go based on the size of the fetus depending on when in gestation women get their ultrasound. But my ob has moms get ultrasound the week of a positive test, so there's that

Meanwhile, I'll be 9 weeks before my first ultrasound...

Just got my first at 11! The wait was brutal. They think I’m closer to 12 based on the US though. Stole 11 vials of my blood for the DNA testing.

I was 9 weeks for my first one too! It's so hard to wait.

I've learned my on is the weirdo. None of my friends have had ultrasounds this early. I think most of my real life friends didn't have theirs until 10 weeks

That’s kind of nice though. This entire time it hasn’t really felt “real” for me until yesterday. It was nice for my husband to be able to see as well.

Focus Friend by Hank Green!! Download it!!!

I normally hate "focus" apps but this one has really worked for me and cut my screen time into like 1/3 of what it normally is. The concept is that a little bean lives in your phone and needs help focusing on their passion, which is knitting. But, when you use your phone, it is very distracting for the bean. So, you set a little timer so your bean can focus and when you come back your bean has made you a bunch of socks, which you can trade for furniture to decorate the bean's room. No ads, completely free! (I did buy the cat skin though lol because cats. and also I wanted to support the game)

I think it's so much better than other things that market themselves as "ADHD tools" because there is no morals or judgements behind any of it. It is a very simple design. You don't get push notifications that make you feel guilty. If you cancel the timer, the bean gets sad and that's like a healthy amount of guilt lol. The timer has been really nice because I have been able to be really intentional about my studying and say "ok let's do 1 hour of anatomy and see where that gets me" instead of falling into a time rabbit hole where five hours have passed and I am not sure I even accomplished anything.

Hank Green is really carrying me through my entire education, from vlogbrothers to Crash Course and now to this!

ETA: I named my bean "Fabella" because we were on pelvic limb osteology when I made it.

I had a plant growing app that turned somewhat paid recently, so I've been bad about my phone lately. 🙃 Need to get back on not being on my phone. Thanks for the recommendation
I think I tried the plant one and it never stuck for me! This one does have a "premium" version that is $15 for a year and it just like makes your bean knit twice as many socks in a given time period and you get options for different decorations-- nothing that makes the "free" experience poor, it's just a way for them to make money since there are no ads.

Let me know if you like it!

An update to this!!! We won!!!!!

Custom home plans are finalized! It seems backwards to spend money getting an architect to draw plans up and not know if you can afford it or not, but apparently that’s the way things work. In 6-8 weeks we’ll know what it’s all gonna cost…fingers crossed the dream plan is reasonably within budget.

fantasy football can be so silly and fun when you dont have an immature ex-boyfriend in your ear repeating “i dont subscribe to stupidball, what a waste of brain cells”, “you dont even know what you’re doing, way to waste your time”.

Men who think women can’t like sports 🤢🤢🤢

First ultrasound was this past Tuesday - I am not crazy nor do I have an HCG-secreting tumor (I've been losing my mind lol). I am in fact pregnant.

9 weeks on the dot, everything looks normal. Still not really having symptoms aside from fatigue. Some fleeting nausea at times, but nothing compared to what most women seem to experience so I'm one of the lucky few I guess.

Now just to buck up and decide when to tell my work team. I already had to dip out of the room during a major exam this past week and people noticed, one keeper privately asked me if I was pregnant. Downside (or upside?) of working in a women-dominated field where avoiding iso or xrays is an instant giveaway.

So so happy for you!!!!

You’ve got this!

first anatomy exam in the bookssssss. 86 on the written portion! we shall see what the practical is— honestly not too sure what it’ll be— i think i passed but i had a lot of answers that i felt unsure about. also the practical was just so daunting. nothing can prepare you for that anxiety lol. both were tougher than expected to be honest. 100% on my histo exam so i am pretty stoked right now!!!

eta: in undergrad, i got a lot of C’s.. like a lot. so it is really affirming to feel like i am “good” at vet school. because i knew i could do it, i just had to convince an admissions board to believe that which is the hard part. i also worked really really hard studying so the pay off is nice.

This is amazing!!!!!

I was the same in undergrad and felt the same in vet school! Very vindicating. High five for the great work!

Just had our first suture lab for our Aquatics club! It was super cool to accidentally time the suture event with learning intradermal (subcuticular) sutures so we got to try our newest pattern learned on some fish abdomens!! Really helps to cement it in my brain to have real life applications.

I know we don't chat a bunch and I'm not very reliably on here anymore, BUT if you want someone to talk to about house building crap you can find me on FB or I can send you my # or whatever. It's a journey and you will be frustrated, but some things can be sorted ahead of time or kept on top of and that can make it easier. Plus I'm full of opinions and always looking for somewhere to put them - lol.

i aced the anatomy practical!! i am so happy.

i would just like to say, for anyone who worries they won't be "smart enough" for vet school because this application process tells you that anything less than a 3.8 is simply "not enough"-- it's so not true. i am doing better than i did in undergrad. the other thing i want to say is that experience truly is so valuable. i am constantly finding ways to apply what i learn to things i have experienced in practice and it makes it so much more memorable, and some of my peers don't have that same advantage. of course, there will be things i have never heard about (lol anything large animal at all) but it really is so encouraging.

i am happy but did sort of immediately feel the dread and pressure to "keep it up". we are on cardiovascular and nerves now.. it is pretty difficult for me. but i can do it!!!

I took a horizontal beam xray all by myself! This is after I was left alone on my first rad shift after my trainer called out. I mislabeled the rad as “bean” instead of “beam” but they will live
Yay for horizontal beams! Also as a radiologist, I would chuckle to myself if I saw "horizontal bean" on an image 🤣
