Back In the beginning of the year I signed up for La2028 Olympic ticket drops. Somehow I got selected for drop 1 and I can try and purchase tickets today 😱

While I have mixed feelings about the USA being allowed to host the Olympics given the current state of things, I’m going YOLO. It will be my summer going into 3rd year, so my last summer. I’ll never have this opportunity again and DAMMIT I wanna see mens volleyball haha

Fingers crossed!

experiencing moonjoy and moonhope.

we as a species seriously needed this space mission. we often forget we are all living on the same planet and that we are all the same. artemis ii instilled so much hope and love and joy and passion in people. like **** dude, these people went farther than any human has been before! (bonus: they shouted our field out.) everything is so scary and stressful lately, but if enough people are feeling the same hope and joy i’m experiencing right now, i think we can move forward and make some serious change.

being sucked into the exhausting system causes you to forget that you have free will! you are a person! go do something that makes you genuinely happy today! go experience whimsy and joy! call your friends or family, go watch a movie, take your dog to the park, crochet something, read a new book. go and live, because at the end of the day, we are all tiny little specs of consciousness on this floating rock.

Not to be a downer at all because I agree with your sentiments 100%, but also…I’m just glad the reentry and recovery went well. I am old enough to remember watching the Columbia explode on TV in 2003…I lived less than an hour away from the hometown of one of the astronauts on that mission, so it was a Really Big Deal both before and after the explosion. I’m not quite old enough to have witnessed the Challenger though. So glad this one went so much better and is leaving people with hope!

Absolutely DESTROYED a 50 mile bike ride today! Who am I nearly hitting 30 mph haha.

Man I’m gonna miss being able to do long endurance events while I’m in school but gonna keep at it where I can

I jumped my horse for the first time in 5 months today and it was the first time in probably a year that I’ve jumped without her bucking me off (for all those concerned, she has an absolutely clean bill of health and is not bucking out of pain, she’s just silly).

Not sure if this is something to rave about or not, but for the first time in my veterinary experience I participated in bull semen testing. LA repro work is quite fascinating! We have a lot of beef cattle ranches where I live so it has been great connecting with our local and large-scale food producers.

Not sure where else to put this but I had to tell someone. I may not have gotten in anywhere this cycle, but it did give me the motivation to find a real job in vet med instead of just shadowing when/where I could.

I've been on this journey since spring 2024 and have worked in retail the entire time. It's been tough, and recently the job has gotten a lot worse. At first I was using the tuition reimbursement program, but now that I'm finished with all prerequisites, there's no sense in staying.

So this morning after getting the "class is full" notice, I went to the clinic I've shadowed at extensively for two years now and asked for a job. They said yes.

I'm going to be a vet assistant 😭 And coming back next cycle stronger than ever! 💪

I got to go birding yesterday for the first time in a while and omg did it rejuvenate me. The warblers are migrating!!! Nature is beautiful!!!

+ I got to check the yellow-throated warbler off my life list (and saw a nesting barred owl). Here's to reaching my goal of 160 species by the end of the year!

The nerd level here is delightful

I MIGHT NOT HAVE A C IN PHARM.

His syllabus states that th class is out of 132 points, but my grade is being calculated off of 140 points. I think I actually have a B!!!!!

ETA: I checked my transcript it’s a B 🥹

they got 1cm of extra tissue to send out to the lab !! dr said that she would be surprised if the surgeon didn’t get all the cells. he did so good on pred this last week that we seriously shrunk down the tumor! now we just change the bandage, keep him comfortable and low-energy and wait patiently for the histopath results next week !!

That's such great news!!

I just hit my savings goal for my gap year (well, kind of... I ended up buying the car that the savings were for earlier than planned... but still feels like an accomplishment!)

My show dog won his first official AKC conformation point today towards his championship. We've been doing dog shows for a couple years, but my breed just got fully accepted into the AKC in January, and this weekend is the first show where we've had breed competition. Today at a hound specialty show, he went Best of Winners (best of the entries who were not already champions; he beat a female) for his first point. He didn't win best of breed, but he didn't show all that enthusiastically and the dog that did win best of breed was being shown by a professional handler, not an amateur like me. Maybe tomorrow he'll do even better and win another point.

Perhaps a pic will come tomorrow after we either go take one with the official photographer or see if any of the ringside candid photographers got anything good.

I just booked flights for my son to come see me. I have missed him so much, I cannot wait to have a whole week with him! Thank goodness for a random week basically off to allow this to happen without it costing more than my two arms and half a pinky toe.

I’ve been in a state of pure happiness even though nothing feels real yet. three years of trying and finally a yes! it feels crazy to be saying I’ll actually be a vet!
I saw your AVC post and was so happy for you. If the immigration rules hadn’t changed, it was something I was heavily considering. Congrats, future doctor! ❤️

Going through my classes for upcoming finals week:

Can't get an A in the class, only need a 60% on the exam to keep my B
Would like to keep my A which requires an 86% on the exam, but will get a B with a 70%
Want to keep my A really badly, need an A on the exam
Class was pass/fail the whole time and I had no idea
Would love an A- with an 86% on the exam. Happy with a B+.

Love a good finals calculation is I know how much I need to stress.

Tentative rave I guess, I've picked out a new used car and should be getting it next week. Last time I bought a car was the middle of of vet school and it was something of a panic buy because my prior car had completely crapped out.

While not new, this will be the youngest and nicest car I've ever owned so... that's exciting. Hopefully it doesn't blow up in my face.

LOW GRADE!!!!! borderline incomplete margins tho (very very small distance between clean and infected cells). Dr said oncology will be able to help us with the next steps, but it most likely will be a "watch and wait" situation.

idk if this means he's cancer free, BUT IT IS FOR SURE A WIN!!!

It’s amazing how much can happen in just 36 hours.

It’s SO exciting to be able to actually walk around and envision the future. I think they’re planning to be ready for windows and doors on Tuesday. Not all steps are this fast, but it’s so exciting!

I never thought I would make it, but here I am. My first litter of bottle babies have all pretty much weaned onto wet/dry food. Meet the distinguished graduates: Olecranon(Ollie), Acromion(Ro) and Talus(Tal).

The lesson I have learned: I could NEVER be a mother to human children. @katiemcat @battie @GoSpursGo @ Anyone else that has smol human children that I don't know about: You all have my utmost respect and awe.

And now...I can sleep. I've forgotten what a full night of sleep felt like.
