don't read, and just search for the answers....in the process of searching, you'll become familiar with the layout of the passage and further searching will be facilitated..

There was a thread started here by a guy named "balki" I believe a few years back that dealt with RC

Ill try to find it

how did you or do you practice for that? is that something that comes naturally? because it doesn't for me. do you guys think i should set up a poll asking how many people actually read the passages?

I suggest the following

You have 20 minutes per passage
Spend 5 or less reading
and 13-14 searching for answers
DO NOT MAP the passage on paper as kaplan suggests (it takes WAY too long and isn't needed for the DAT, now the MCAT is another story all together). Map the passage in your head!

Its important to read the passage so you will be able to answer GENERAL/GLOBAL questions. If you don't read it you will miss these and you will be nervous as hell searching for all answers.. Also reading gives you an idea of the general structure of it. Practice on getting FAST here. About 70% of the questions on the real DAT are nearly word for word (notice i said NEARLY aka synonyms). The other 30% are inference such as the author would most likely agree with __.

make sure to leave at least 1-2 minutes at the end to make sure every bubble is filled in as with all sections and remember the answers are in the passage

Good Luck

🙂

Another note if you ever encounter HEAVY details READ FASTER (yes thats right i said faster). Why? Guess what the details aren't going anywhere!

thanks partner!

your advice will be very helpful, I just can't get over the fact that the RC will be on a computer, it would be so much more easier with a pencil for me to mark things down, but I guess everyone is given the same thing to work with, which does make it fair.
