So I am interested in psych nursing and am a competent individual, who doesnt have much trouble with school. I was wondering if it was possible for me to be a psych nurse seeing as how i have a diagnosis of Bi-polar. Thanks in advance for answers

Of course you can!

Seeing as how you have that disorder you might be able to relate to certain patients better than other nurses. Make sure you stay on your meds and if you feel your self getting too worked up tell somebody!

The only reason to stop working with your disorder is if you feel as though you are putting your patients in danger.

Psychiatric nursing is a pretty stressful job and requires a lot of risk and good judgement. Mistakes can compromise patient safety. It depends on the severity of your bipolar illness and whether your judgement/reasoning is impaired (e.g. when in a manic episode etc.) and how you would know if you are impaired on the job.
