Sorry guys, I tried searching this forum and couldn't find an answer to my specific question. Does anyone know if dental schools can see your last cycle's application if you are reapplying?? For example, previous personal statement or things that you put down on your activities?? It's not that I'm trying to hide or change something (well actually I kind of am....) but I'm really concerned about my personal statement because I actually submitted with a spelling error (literally just one mistake) and I don't want it to be seen again by anyone else. Please don't bash out on me, I've been regretting for past 6 months over this.

im 1000000000000000000% sure a spelling mistake wont affect anything, unless its your vs you're ofc.

When a re-applicant reapplies, one of the main things you need to do is to change your personal statement. I know a huge mistake in reapplying is using the same exact personal statement as the previous years so knowing this fact, it is safe to assume that schools have access to your previous personal statement.

I started rewriting my PS but I was just too bothered by this. Thanks for clearing this for me.

I had a similar question about this as well. Do admissions compare our previously written PS to our current one and specifically look for the changes that we made? That seems like a lot of effort on their part though.

When initially sifting through applicants? I highly, highly doubt it. Later on? Maybe.

I called and asked a few schools when I was applying. Some schools told me they destroy the previous applications, and others definitely hold on to it (one school scanned my old one and sent it to me). You should call each school you've applied to previously to find out how they handle it.

Not trying to pry but, if you don't mind, can you share which schools did hold on to previous application??

Some dental schools are under the impression that when you apply the first time, you put your best work forward, so they do not expect you to change everything (LLU told me this for example)

Your personal statement is your answer to why dentistry? something that shouldn't be completely different within one cycle... I think what you can do though is update it with new more recent examples, but of course it can still have the same main idea.

NEW for 2018 ADEA AADSAS®

The 2018 ADEA AADSAS application will be hosted on a new website. Applicants who applied in the 2017 cycle and plan on re-applying to the 2018 ADEA AADSAS cycle will not be able to carry over application information.

This is a one-time change from ADEA AADSAS policy which does allow re-applicants to carry over some information. Starting again next year, applicants who applied in the 2018 cycle will be able to carry over their information.

It is recommended that re-applicants print their 2017 application for reference when the 2018 application opens June 1.

I don't know how many of you guys have seen this but I found out about this today. I wanted to call AADASS about reapplying and clicked on "contact us" tab which contained some frequently asked questions and answers including this one. I still don't think this means that all dental schools will all destroy or won't have previous cycle's application but what do you guys think?? Personally I don't want them to see my mistake from last year.

But what about re-applicants applying to new schools, do the new schools have any access to the previous application?
