reapply did not submit secondary first time

I applied to two MD schools this cycle but due to financial reasons I did not submit a secondary. I want to apply to them for next cycle (where I will be much more prepared) but am I at a disadvantage at these schools b/c I didn't send an email or anything to let them kow i was withdrawing my application? should i just give up on these two and focus on other schools?
