I didn't get into dental school this year due to a low DAT score. I am planning to study hard and retake the DAT by August. What is the process for reapplying? Do I have to refill out all the AADSAS forms? Do I have to get new letters of recommendation or can I use the old ones? Do I have to write a new personal statement? If anyone has been through this process could you please walk me through it, and even add some tips if you've gotten in your second time around? Like what did you say to your interviewer, etc...

Thanks a bunch!

Apply earlier (when the application comes out).

Take the DAT sooner (schools might pass on your application due to your low scores without considering your new scores if you retake late).

Yes you have to redo the AADSAS application.

Yes you need to get new letters of recommendation.

No you don't have to write a new personal statement, but you might want
to try to improve on it.

Good luck :luck:

Do the letters of recommendation have to be from new people? Some of them would want to use the same one, would that look bad?

When I reapplied I got one new letter of rec from a professor I had from the most recent semester. The other letters I had resubmitted with nothing changed. I changed my personal statement to reflect what I had done since the first time I applied. And yes everything has to be reentered into AADSAS. You might want to go through your application and print everything off. Once the next cycle of application come out I don't think you can go back and look at your old application. Hope this helps.
