Recieving no interviews.......

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Most schools grade policy is that you are required to either have a B or better in A&P or a C or better in A&P depending on the school you applied.

The D+ in A&P is what holding you back from interviews. Just retake the course A&P course and other science courses that you did bad on.

Also, I would go to the school's site and check to see if their supplemental application is there. I applied to Midwestern through Pharmcas and didn't recieve their supplemental questions until I got an email telling me that the due date is coming up, which I had to do on their website.

Quoted for truth.

A D+ in a pre-req will hold you back since a lot of places throw out the application. Try A&P again and if a 2-semester course, do well in both of them to show improvement. Heck, try the animal physiology or whatever the higher level class is to show some mastery as well.

I am just retook my PCAT this Jan so im waiting for the scores. the first one was horrible.

I know its too early to give up, but if someone can just give me some hope that they got an interview with these low stats..

And your composite score on the first one was...

If a D+ and B changed your sci gpa by 0.47.. How many credits do you have in science? Thats insane. Heres my insight.

The majority of the people applying have 90credits to a BA/BS degree.

Sounds like your trying to apply fairly early for todays standards. Yes there are stories of people getting in after 2 years. However that is becoming less frequent.

Finish your prereqs + biochem/microbio +++ more and take PCAT. You'll see HUGE score increases and get better shots @ getting in.

And since it was mailed out Dec27, schools most likely got it Early January.. SO technically its been 1 month.

Applying in January is LATEE!! Try to get it in by Oct-Nov.

On the bright side 🙂

The day before each program starts, there is always a phonecall to a student saying CONGRATS your in!

If it is what you want to do, waiting 1-2 more years is totally worth it!

Good luck!

I did 4 years undergrad with 135 credits (no degree). Just took A LOT of random sciences.

With a sub 3.0 gpa, and a horrible pcat score you will likely not get any interview offers. If you have a low gpa then you need to counteract it with an exceptional PCAT score or vice versa. Mainly, start planning and setting goals. It sounds ridiculous on setting goals, but you need things to strive for in order to succeed.

Make a list of the schools you want to attend to, check their pre-reqs and minimum grades required. If you have a D+ in A&P and a school requires A&P, then you need to either retake the course or drop that school. However, you would be better off retaking A&P as it could only help.

Secondly if your 2nd PCAT score is low, then you need to start planning to retake it next fall, and start preparing for it. Get Kaplan's book, take the practice test, and follow some sort of plan.

I set a plan in motion 2 1/2 years ago, and i have completed every step on the way because i had a plan and goals. I even had the extra challenge of only planning on applying and going to one particular school. While that narrowed down my pre-reqs, I would not recommend that especially with lower stats. I had a special set of circumstances (2 children and a wife, had to be a public school(VA), etc) so my choice was limited.

No matter what, sit down, research and make a plan. Then follow that plan. Also look into your study habits, etc as you need to excel at your pre-reqs as most schools will be wary if a student has issues in a lower level course.

🙁

I hope you've got full time work to explain all that.

Good luck.
