Does anybody remember how long it takes for reciprocity? Do the states allow one to take MPJE while NABP is working on the official application?

Nope. The whole process...NABP-->BOP--->paperwork to you--->paperwork back to bop---> BOP authorizes to test...takes about 2-3 months...guh...

You won't be approved to sit for the MPJE until the state you are applying for approves all your application materials. I transferred my license and got my paperwork back from NABP (initial application) in a few days. Once I sent the application to where I was going to transfer, it took about 2 weeks or so to get my ATT for the MPJE. It probably depends on the state you are applying to as to how long the paperwork takes.

There are two important definitions here to differentiate. Reciprocity takes one year from the date of licensure in the original state to the new state. Then there is score transfer, score transfer allows you to apply for licensure in two states after graduating from pharmacy school.

I think what you are referring to is score transfer. You sign up to transfer your passing NAPLEX score to whatever second state you want to be licensed in. This allows you to gain licensure in two states without having to wait a year for reciprocity. Once you are licensed in the original state, you can submit an application and take the law exam for the second state. Score transfer takes about 2-3 months, as long as all of your applications are filled out properly.

I am in fact referring to reciprocity. I was under the impression that not all states require the one year requirement before applying for reciprocity. I did score transfer to a couple of places but unfortunately not to the place I am going to move to.

Every state is different. The one year wait is not a standard. You would have to check with each state's board of pharmacy.

I think this is a very realistic and typical time frame. There is no rhyme or reason as to why it takes so long...it just does.
