I'm a sophomore in my undergrad right now, and I just changed my major from Health to Sports Medicine. This took 22 credits out of my curriculum, but I will still have to graduate in 5 years. I have the opportunity to minor in anatomy and neurobiology as well as an emphasis in human physiology. This would include picking three classes from the following:

Human Gross Anatomy II (I'm already taking I)
Pharmacology
Endocrinology
Histology
Neuroanatomy
Muscle and Nerve Toxins and Disease
Disorders and Diseases of the Brain
Celluar Neurobiology
Cardiopulmonary Physiology
Mammalian Physiology I (graduate course)

Now, these are all undergrad courses, so they wouldn't be as comprehensive as a med school course. I'm asking med students out there what would be the most helpful to me in the event that I went to med school. All imput will be helpful. Thank you and have a great day.

While I have not started med school yet (but will this August), any kind of anatomy and physiology courses will be helpful. Or, you want to broaden your horizons and take a literature class or philosophy class, etc. Well-roundedness is a huge plus for a medical school applicant.

From your list I would reccommend the following:

Gross II- espec. if it has a physio componenet

Neuroanatomy

Histology - PCOM allows people with an undergrad histo course to test out of the lab portion of the class. This gives you a lot of extra study tome for anatomy.

Pharm - just b/c it's so much info, any advantage will be good.

I would stick with the basics.

Good luck, Linda

do lots of neuroanatomy and anatomy

And if you have motivation pharmacology...

Get away from the sciences for many of your electives! Also, modern foreign language brought to an advanced level is excellent.

Absolutely, Foreign Language is the way to go. Particulary Spanish, (lotsa underserved and fastest growing minority group).
Otherwise, hell I dunno... learn a musical instrument. 😛
