My pharmcas app is finished expect for 1 recommendation (from a pharmacist)!! I worked for him about 3 years ago, so I felt weird asking for a Rec anyway. Now I have to keep hounding him about it b/c somehow the pharmcas email isnt getting through. (I've told him to check his 'junk/spam' folder, but he's kinda old, I dont know how computer literate he is lol).

How does it work if you send a paper application? Do you have to get their home address? I dont know if I feel comfortable asking that. Can I put in my address and then bring him the papers at work and ask him to mail them? If I do the paper forms, how long should it take to receive them?

Thanks!

Here's the section about paper references in the PharmCAS instructions:

PharmCAS said:
PAPER REFERENCES
Paper references take longer to duplicate and send to your designated pharmacy schools. If the evaluator does not have Internet access, login to your application and print the PharmCAS Evaluation Form. The evaluator should complete the paper form and attach it to a reference letter. Pharmacy schools may not accept paper references unless a completed form and letter are attached. PharmCAS does not verify your references are complete. Paper references must be mailed to PharmCAS in a sealed envelope on the evaluator's signed official institutional or business stationery. The letter of reference and PharmCAS reference form must arrive together in a single envelope. PharmCAS will not accept paper references mailed by applicants. Arrange for only one paper reference to be sent to PharmCAS per evaluator. PharmCAS will provide a copy of your paper reference to each of your designated pharmacy schools. Evaluators must mail paper references to Reference Department, PharmCAS, P.O. Box 9109, Watertown, MA 02471.

You simply print the evaluation form, give it to your pharmacist, have him fill it out and attach the letter, and then have him send it. In fact, PharmCAS prohibits you from sending it anyway.

PharmCAS has a pdf listing details to every instruction on their application = it's your friend. Be sure to check it out as this pdf has answers. I'd link it to you, but PharmCAS is down right now (at least at my home).

yeah, the site was down when I tried to check on this too. hence my question..

I did one of my references by paper and it took a week after my professor mailed in it for it to be processed (posted on my application).

i've asked my professor for a letter last month and she still hasn't sent it off!🙁

I acutally have a problem too...mine is a little bit different. I have been out of school for two years now. I have been working on imporoving my grade at 3 different community colleges, just taking courses here and there. I spoke to an admission counselor from a pharm. school and they suggest I get a letter recommedation from a professor about me improving my grades. The thing is since I have just been taking course here and there..to improve my GPA because I already have a degree...I don't really know any of the professors. What should I do about that problem???Also I have been volunteer for 5 months now at the Hospital, I was hoping to get a recommendation from the pharmacist there...is it too soon to ask here for a recommendation..I been volunteering about 5 hours each week for the past 5 months...suggestions..????

i'm annoyed with my chem professor right now. i asked her in April, we have been in contact all the way up until the end of July. I told her I wanted to have everything done by August 1st. I have not heard from her and my letter still isnt complete. I even emailed her twice already. I don't know what she is doing or what happened. She is going to delay things for me for the schools with rolling admissions that need 3 letters. My other two references took care of everything within two weeks after recieving the request from PharmCas. grr...i return to school August 18th. If worse comes to worse, I will have to track her down on campus during office hours and pray she gets it done by September at the latest.

lol, i kind of feel guilty. I feel like I have been annoying the heck out of this woman. she FINALLY replied back to me after almost 2 weeks of trying to get a response from her, but all she sent was my previous emails, LOL. so, i don't know what she might write about me now.

it's hard depending on other people. do they know how stressful it is to leave a student hanging for 2 weeks?!
