Hi All! I am applying this current cycle but mostly it's been radio silences/ R's coming my way. I am looking to improve my app for reapplication next year.
cGPA and sGPA: 3.6/3.58
MCAT: 515 130/128/129/128
Clinical experience: 150 something hours at hospital ICU, and started working as part-time MA at IM clinic since August, also sent in application for volunteering at urgent care center

Non-Clinical volunteer: 170 something hours at food bank during applications, currently at around 310 hours. The org also provides health services for low income families.

Shadowing: Cardiology 80+ hours

Research: 2 years in undergrad lab and 1 year as lab assistant after grad.

I was a "lab assistant" for 2.5 years at the laboratory of animal use and care office during undergrad. The animals I worked with were used for educational purpose for children/visitors to our site. I also helped to teach a few of these programs. Hopefully this experience will be applicable towards med school. I was pre-vet at the time and it was a job I really enjoyed (the teaching part too).

Tutoring: general lab course as undergraduate student instructor and volunteer tutor at local community college for veteran students after grad.

I plan to continue my volunteering at the food bank and help plan events towards providing low income families with health services.

I'm currently sitting on pre II R's from UCLA, BU, Hofstra, and Wake Forest.

I would love any ideas towards improving my application! Thanks!

Which state r u a resident of?

You should include all of the schools you applied to and a general average time frame of when you were complete at most of them. Because there isn't really anything wrong with your application beyond a slightly below-average GPA which isn't low enough to hinder your application.

Yes I definitely plan to. Hopefully my MA position can lead to a couple hours of shadowing a week.

One worry I have is my clinical and non clinical is mostly after graduation so around 10 months time. Since I was on the pre-vet route I dedicated more time to the "lab assistant" position for animal Care experience

Just keep at it even after application. Don’t worry that you had stuff from your prevet days . In fact hopefully you used that experience in your application too.

Get more clinical and nonclinical volunteering. 300 hours of nonclinical volunteering is solid; if you could get another 200 hours of clinical volunteering you might be pretty good.

Thanks for the advice! Working on those now! 😀
