Hi All! I am applying this current cycle but mostly it's been radio silences/ R's coming my way. I am looking to improve my app for reapplication next year.
cGPA and sGPA: 3.6/3.58
MCAT: 515 130/128/129/128
Clinical experience: 150 something hours at hospital ICU, and started working as part-time MA at IM clinic since August, also sent in application for volunteering at urgent care center
Non-Clinical volunteer: 170 something hours at food bank during applications, currently at around 310 hours. The org also provides health services for low income families.
Shadowing: Cardiology 80+ hours
Research: 2 years in undergrad lab and 1 year as lab assistant after grad.
I was a "lab assistant" for 2.5 years at the laboratory of animal use and care office during undergrad. The animals I worked with were used for educational purpose for children/visitors to our site. I also helped to teach a few of these programs. Hopefully this experience will be applicable towards med school. I was pre-vet at the time and it was a job I really enjoyed (the teaching part too).
Tutoring: general lab course as undergraduate student instructor and volunteer tutor at local community college for veteran students after grad.
I plan to continue my volunteering at the food bank and help plan events towards providing low income families with health services.
I'm currently sitting on pre II R's from UCLA, BU, Hofstra, and Wake Forest.
I would love any ideas towards improving my application! Thanks!
