Hey,

I'm going to be working as an EMT for a some months before fall begins, when I will start a grueling post-bacc semester of hard sciences (bio, chem, o-chem, physics, etc)

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for books they liked (besides a straight up textbook) that conveyed information on any pre-med topics interestingly, clearly, and in detail. I figure that while I'm working will be a good opportunity to absorb key information so that when I'm doing the actual courses I'll be familiar with all the material.

Thanks!

ps what's your favorite MCAT book?

Reading ahead of time, both before undergraduate classes and before med school, is not the best utilization of your time. You will have to revisit and learn the topics anyway with negligible benefits from reading before classes began. Enjoy your free time for now.

The best MCAT books IMHO are anything by Berkeley Review and Examkraker's Verbal.

I'll second the Examkrackers books, though I actually liked all of them. I'd also suggest getting the problem books and doing the corresponding problems during your classes if you can find time to do so. Practice is the key for most people to a good MCAT score, it seems.

Agreed with Longshanks also on the enjoy your free time now suggestion. If you want to do any medically related reading, I'd suggest reading some of the books in MCAT guy's thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=752061

I found a lot of good information under Bud Lite bottle caps the summer before I started medschool👍

Go to Amazon and order Organic Chemistry as a Second Language. If you like it (and you will), there is a second semester version as well. Trust me on this.

This. Also, when I read the thread title I thought we were recommending books for pre-school.
