Anyone stay in Reed hall for JHU interview? Can you share what they provided, parking details, etc.? TY 🙂

I stayed in Reed Hall. I can't provide parking info since I didn't drive, but they did have basic bedding (including a pillow) and small towels in the rooms. Might've also had small soap bars or something, but I didn't really pay attention to that since I brought my own. I would advise you to bring your own towel since the ones they provide are small. Also don't forget your shower slippers.

Parking for Reed Hall is in the McElderry or Caroline St (Outpatient Center) garages. It'll run you $10 for 6-24 hours.

I don't know what's provided, but I would second LovelyMD's comment.

Also don't try making popcorn in the building and watch for bugs! (On the West side, anyway. 😉)

Do you know the proximity of these garages to Reed hall? Thanks!

They're next door. (Literally.)

Reed Hall is next to the Outpatient Center, on one side of the campus. There are those 2 garages, the Hampton House building, and some research buildings. Across the street (Broadway) is the Hospital and all its attachments. On the other side of the Hospital is the Hygiene building, the PCTB, the Library, and some other buildings that Hopkins owns. www.hopkinsmedicine.org has directions and maps.

it's $10 for 24 hours, but the admissions office will validate parking. just remember to ask.

The rooms in Reed Hall are called "suicide singles." Try not to be depressed by them. Most med students stay on the opposite, nicer side of Reed Hall.

I second this. I thought the singles side of Reed Hall was kinda scary... but the suites, which are on the other side of Reed Hall, are much nicer.

do NOT forget slippers! the rooms are really small but i had a beautiful view of baltimore. however, the suites are much much nicer. ive also heard that hopkins might be demolishing reed and building a new place in the coming years.

Does anyone know when checkout the next day is? It would be nice if we could store our stuff there and come back to change before we go home.

Also, was there wireless internet access?

Thanks!

I think checkout time was sometime around 10am (don't quote me on that though). However, when you check out you are allowed to leave your stuff in a secure room next to the security desk.

Don't know about wireless since I didn't bring my computer with me.

Thanks LovelyMD!
were there any areas where you could change out of your suit into regular clothing?

any comments on the internet access?

did not find any wireless access with my laptop. there was a working alarm clock, which is something I worried about before getting there.

hey guys,

does anyone who has been there remember if there was an ironing board available at the front desk for applicants to use? thanks!

I don't think it was available. The hall is literally the dorm for the med students so amenities are very barebone

hey everyone,

for future reference, i just called the housing office and apparently an iron/ironing board is available for check-out at the front desk of reed hall.
