Hey! has anyone used their school's reference letter service to keep reference letters for mailing to pharmacy schools? are most schools ok with this? I'm assuming that will be as confidential as sending the sealed envelope directly to the school? What do you think??

I used one and it worked great. Had the letters held for roughly 3 yrs after I graduated and every school I applied to was okay with it. In fact, most of the schools accepted the letters over their own forms so I didn't have to bug my professors and pharmacists more than once.

My daughter did for her medical school ROL's. A great service IMO!

so it's a good idea then. thanks!! 🙂

Sorry for the bump but I have a question regarding letter service and I found this thread! Anyways...

I am new to this letter service business and I am confused. So for each new application cycle, you get a brand new PharmCAS ID. This means that on the reference letters already stored in your school's letter service, their dates and IDs are old, no? So what is the point of using letter service if the dates and IDs on the letters become obsolete for future application cycles? Am I getting some letter service info mixed up here? :scared:

To be honest, the LOR service provided by schools doesn't apply as much to PharmCAS schools since your writers should upload them through the PharmCAS email service. Even if e-mail wasn't available, they generally should send it in directly to PharmCAS through the mail. Essentially, PharmCAS performs the same service as the school by taking one letter and distributing it to many schools though PharmCAS doesn't keep the letter for many years.

The letter service will apply more to schools that do not use PharmCAS.
