FP took a beating this year. I wonder how programs will be able to survive with so many unfilled spots. You need a steady, regular number of residents to run a residency program.

I can't believe that Derm had an unmatched spot... is that possible?

It was probably a place that changed it's mind about having an open spot, either before or after meeting with applicants. 31 derm spots nationwide seems ridiculously low though. No wonder it takes ~6 months to get a derm consult many places.

Those # are for PGY-1 spots, thus anything with a transitional/prelim separate interview/match process is not included. Look at radiology, there are WAY more spots than that, same with derm.

Quite right.

There was a total of 5 unfilled positions for radiology this year, out of almost 1000 nationwide.

The above statistics are only half of the story -- none of the advanced (i.e. PGY-2) positions are reported in that list. The PGY-2 list is available on the NRMP website.

They are right below the PGY-1 spots, under documents. I think that you have to register first.

Can someone post a link to where this information can be found?

I can't login to the NRMP site because I matched last year. Could someone please post the regional stats for PGY2? Thanks.

just go to the nrmp website, log-in with your usual ID, and then click on 2004 Regional Match Stats. They'll have a breakdown of PGY-1 and 2 spots by region and specialty.

Best of luck to all....only a couple more days!

where is this link, i can't find it either

please paste a hyperlink for the slowpokes on the board.

for those who have forgotten how to get to the NRMP website... here ya go.

as for logging into the site... sorry, you're on your own. 😉

Thanks for the above stats.

I'm an outside observer, and curious. How does it work for combined programs (such as Med-Peds, Med-Onc, etc.)?

Do these programs go through NRMP, and (if so) how are the numbers reported?
