does anyone know the word on regrading essays? do scores usually change? is it worth it? I got a 39O and some of the canadian schools have cut-offs that I don't quite make. is it worth the chance that it will go down?

The writing cutoffs. for queens and western its R. doesnt matter if you have 42...if you dont meet the cutoffs = 0 interviews

ok just forget the GA resident thing. don't be distracted by that. Just make this a theoretical question. If I had a 39 O I would not meet the cutoffs in the essay section for some key Ontario schools. The only thing that matters here is the O. The cutoffs in VR, PS, and BS are met. What do I do about the O? Does anyone know anything about regrading?

It's worth a shot. I think it's $40 to have some regrade your essay - look into that.

A different person will definitely read your essay different. Whether that results in a higher or even lower score depends on the regrader.

My next question is this...is it worth the risk that the essay score could go down and even more cutoffs might be missed? And actually I think the cutoff for Queens is O, and the cutoff for Western is Q.

keep asking for regrades until you get a higher score 😛

If the cut-off is about a P, then it might be worth it. If it's R, however, as someone stated, then I think that's too high and unrealistic for a regrade. Keep in mind that two people read your essays for an average grade, so the particular biases of one will be balanced by the other. In other words, I don't think your grade will go up by a lot, if at all.

What kind of crazy puts up poop as their avatar?

I'd say risk the regrade, if you don't get into Canada, well that's a shame, guess you'll just have to settle for Harvard or JHU. Bummer.

Do the regrade. getting a freaking 39, would make me feel as though your essay should have been better aka you r not DUMB 😀

still please tell me why a GA resident will go to Canada??? doesnt make any sense to me!!!!!

wow i seriously didn't mean to post 3 times...i really don't have a good answer for why canada. i did my undergrad there and i'm sure i'll be asked about it in interviews...but i seriously have no idea what i'm going to say about it. what can i say about a decision i made when i was a teenager with absolutely no clue where i wanted to go in life? i wanted to learn how to ice fish???

because you can get a world class education for a fraction of the cost. except you were probably paying international fees, that's still cheaper than some private schools.

I'm glad you understand the frustration that most canadian students go through. you can be saving orphan babies in africa and you still won't meet the cutoff at some ontario medical schools.
