For all the D1 students out there, what is a regular week like, in terms of quizzes, tests, project etc. Here at SIU it seems crazy. Regular week:
At least two major tests.
at least 5 quizzes.
At leat 2 lab projects due.
Have to practice how to cut prep.
Have to work on the dreaded loundin project.
Next week we have a final on a class we took last semester (histo).
Have to study to the exam or quiz you have the next day.
Men , am I the only feeling like this? Holla back!🙁

Our first semester was pretty nifty becase we only had one class at a time and the exam was every Monday after having lecture the previous week (Monday-Friday). Therefore, we ALWAYS had the weekend to study for the Monday exam, and once the course was over we were able to move on to new material.

Our schedule this semester still has us focusing on one major course at a time. Right now we are doing Dental Hard Tissues, which is Dental Anatomy, Operative/Restorative, etc., all jumbled into one class. This course goes for 8 weeks and is our large course for that time frame. Our first didactic exam for that course is Monday. Our first lab practical (probaby waxing and a prep) will be sometime next week.

On Wednesdays, however, we have Pharm in the morning and Clinical Medicine in the afternoon. Those exams seem like a long way off, however, so Dental Hard Tissues really is our only course. That includes lab work with it, though.

Things are hectic, but not too bad. So far I like the way our curriculum is designed (systems-based). It's also nice knowing that we are completely done with ALL biomedical sciences (histology, biochem, etc., were all done last semester).

But I still get burned out every now and then. You aren't alone!

Gavin, I seem to recall you bragging last semester that you didn't have to do waxing in your curriculum; that it was an antiquated. What kind of wax-ups are you doing?

Actually, I said we'd have the opportunity to do them if we wanted, but that they wouldn't be graded. It IS antiquated. Last week though, we did one wax-up, and it wasn't for any type of credit. It was a max central. The wax lab exam has been cancelled.

ibo,
What is "the dreaded loundin project?"

Loundin project is a type of waxup that we do for occlusion, where we shave off the occlusal surfaces of the max and mand. posterior teeth, and waxup the surfaces . With all the anatony present in different colored wax. Must have contact on your cannines, and the on your wax up. Each stage is graded separately. It takes a lot of time to complete the project. Some student take over 80hrs to get it done.

Ah yes, "dreaded" is certainly the proper term here. We did two projects, one for each arch. Definitely the biggest PITA of first year so far.
