🙁 I'm sorry hon! It always sucks to get a rejection letter... but you know how random this whole thing is... you never know what'll be next... but it is your destiny to become a physician, and that can't be taken away! You'll be FINE -- keep your head up.

Tufts is sending out rejections?! What happened to their policy of not rejecting anyone until March? Here's the statement direct from the website:

"All complete applications remain under active consideration for an interview until the end of February. No applications are rejected without an interview prior to March 1, so we have sufficient time in the winter to fully consider applications with August scores."

I guess they changed that policy...or did you interview already?

oh my god .... Tufts changed the policy or something???? I'm so scary now .... I was completed at Tufts for more than 2 months already

I was rejected by Northwestern and U Chicago in the same day, so I feel ya.

In fact, I got three rejections in a row early in the application process after only getting one other interview (from a school I knew would interview me). It definitely wasn't good for the ego and seemed like a bad omen, but since then the application process has gone very well and I could give a $h!t less about those two rejections anymore.

Have you been getting any other interviews? If so don't worry about it, its just bad luck. If not I hope everything ends up working out well, and it very well might because I got three interviews in a row about a month after I got those three rejections, so your luck can easily improve very quicky, and once it does you will forget about the rejects.

I'm sorry to hear that, Saki. On the bright side, you have a belly dancer awaiting you!!

Sorry to cause blood pressures to rise all across the nation.
Let me clarify...
I decided at the last minute to add 4 schools to my AMCAS application(a couple interviews but no word. I have been getting nervous). I applied the day of 3 out of 4 of these schools AMCAS deadlines, but I thought I would still be okay. I received an email from AMCAS the next day that I MISSED the deadline, but I could ask for an extension. So I asked for extensions from all three schools. One said yes and gave me a supplementary application, and almost a month after my request, Tufts and NYU sent me bug fat rejection email's ("Thankyou for your interest in our school. Unfortunately we cannot grant you an extension. Blah blah blah").
I know it wasn't as bad as getting rejected after an interview, but it hurt nonetheless. It's like having big fat doors slammed in your face one after the other.
Sorry for getting everyone worried.

And all of you are invited to my family's backwards Thanksgiving celebration 😀

amcas didn't charge you for the additional schools did they?

look on the bright side, at least you didn't have to pay the secondary fees.

i'm sure you'll be fine with your other schools.

You sound like my husband...always looking on the bright side 🙄
Yes AMCAS did charge me. And yes, some of their people will be waking up with horse heads on their pillow.

good luck, i hope you get your money back. if it was passed the deadline they shouldn't have let you even select those schools, but it sounds like it wasn't passed the deadline when you wanted to submit anyway and amcas is jus being punks.

bad amcas.

i don't normally speak out against amcas though, they really hooked me up. i applied during the peak, and they processed my app over night, yes overnight, not 4-6 weeks like most people who applied at the same time. summer grades, they added my summer grades and factored them into my gpa calculation based on what i said i received without even getting a new transcript either. i got real lucky.

There was no change in policy. The policy states that no rejection is made without an interview. The OP probably had an interview and was then rejected.

can i ask you what your stats are, cause i applied to tufts.
thanks

I've been complete at NYU since mid-July, and Tufts since mid-August...but no word from them. I'm guessing this is a bad sign 🙁

Don't worry, Susan. There are so many of us who've been complete for so long but haven't heard anything. It's too early to assume that means we are all going to be rejected from everywhere we applied. We just have to keep waiting...I know, patience really sucks!! 👎

it was not my stats that earned the flat out rejection...read my post above. i missed deadlines for these two schools after adding them on at the last minute.

Damn, the ol' double whammy! That can only mean good luck. 👍

trust me, getting a waitlist is WAY harder than getting a rejection: at least with the latter, you have some closure whereas with the former, you feel like hating the school for putting you on the list in the first place while at the same time thinking to yourself, "April".

that's true. at least I know where I stand with NYPoo and Tufts (couldn't think of a cutt-down for tufts 😳 )

I think I'm over it. I went to yoga last night and during the restorative phase I cried a little for my loss 😛 .

hey, at least you won't have to go into massive debt upon graduation from tufts. i think it is the most expensive med school in the country right now, no?
besides, i'm sure its their loss...
