Rejection/Acceptance - Phone or email

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
on December 1st - how do we find out if we got accepted or rejected

by phone or email ?

Depends on the school. There have been threads about this, that list which school does what. Try searching for it.

I can assure you rejections will come via email or mail.

they won't be calling you up to reject you.

UCLA gives notification of rejection and waitlist status by phone

My rejection letter last year from UCLA says other wise.

I can see them informing people they've been waitlisted via phone call. Relatively small group and subsequently informing that small group its now closed as everyone paid their last deposits.

But they get some 1800 applicants, calling all 1700 or so people is just way too time consuming. They can automate the snail mail process.

Personally I was surprise they didn't go the email route. Practically no additional cost. They already pay for the computers/internet/IT and those related expenses.

No postage to deal with. Even at bulk rate. Saves on ink and paper/envelopes.

I meant post-interview, not rejections in general.

You got a point. That's way too many phone calls if the school had to make every single pre-interview rejection calls.

Anyway, phone call rejection sounds really awkward lol. Does anyone know of other schools that does phone call post-interview rejections?

Lol, no they don't dude. I don't know where you're getting your information from.

Adcoms already have a tough time doing their required tasks. No need to train adcoms in suicide prevention techniques after they tell the applicants the bad news.

You sure? That's what the admissions officer told us.

edit: Actually, she just said we'd be notified of all decisions by phone, which I thought encompassed all three types of decisions. Maybe that means everyone in my group is accepted? Haha.
