Still undecided if I should goto Case in May.... anyone got any comments?.. suggestions?

I think I am just getting sick of plane rides.... I am thinking the Schools are in some kinda scam with the plane companies to rip us off. The more people they interview.. the more money the airlines will get.

Hockeydentist,

Have you considered retaking your DAT's?
I think that's holding your back man. Instead of spending loads of $$ on lengthy classes for a masters, I say study for a short 3 months to get an unrefusable score.

My GPA is not so different from yours, but my DAT's got me into schools... and I applied in January.

Okazaki is right.

what is you need is something that separates you from the rest of the applicants. I've read Okazaki's file. He's got a very interesting work background. I'm sure his DAT score got the attention he needed and the rest was history.

A masters degree is nice. I have a masters. But it didn't really help me much. This is why: schools have to set up an economic way to deal with the high volume of applicants they receive each year. If you were screening the applicants, what would you do? you screen out the majority with a few common factors, namely the DAT score and GPA, and deal with the special cases later. My GPA was very poor. But I got my interviews because I had a decent DAT score. Once you get the interview, you have the chance to sell yourself. At my interview, we never once talked about my masters. Instead, I talked about my experience and why I wanted to be a dentist. I think they are more interested in you as a person than the fact you have a masters degree. Won't you agree? All you need is that something that catches their attention. 😀

I got the interviews and somehow I just didn't sell my self I guess, I am the mayor of waitlist city. So you honestly don't think the Masters had any bearing on your acceptance. I find that strange becuase you would stand out like a sour thumb to me if I was reviewing applications. Regardless if you didn't talk about your masters its in your file.

why do you think I stand out like a sour thumb?

I normally do well at interviews. There's only been one interview where I wasn't offered a position. Well, counting Columbia that would make it two. 😳

I think he meant as a master's student you stand out.

I just got a reply from the Case western people about their waitlist, it seems they only have about 7-8 people on the list at the moment, with the list reaching about 30 possibly?

That seems kinda small. Maybe they really do a good screening of potential candidates and not just shove everyone who didnt make the cut into the wait list.

I think it'll get a lot higher by the time they're done. You're not actually considered to be on the list until your cheque is in. I'm sure there are a few cheques in the mail on their way there :scared: . However, the smaller the better! 😀

does the miracle actually happen??
I am on an alternative list at BU...I don't think I would get in this year. I was one of the early applicants and interviewee.
why wouldn't they reject people directly , instead send out the alternative? why why..
