Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you at all. You do have solid stats and great DAT scores... I'm sure you'll hear from the rest of the schools soon. Don't give up hope. This is also my second round.... so I can understand your pain.

I'm not upset. I was just venting. I think I'm worried now that people will be critical of that! Oh well... Now that I think of it, it really is only December 1st...

As far as it being your second time around, I'm right there with ya. It feels like the first cycle never ended, it just kept going for another 12 months...

I agree. If you can't vent here, where can you vent? Heck, my family and friends are sick and tired of hearing me whine and cry and wail at the top of my lungs when I get junk mail instead of real mail....never mind when all I want to do is talk about how all this waiting is mental torture. Only SDNers can understand your pain and suffering. So, vent all you like. Think of this as therapy for the aspiring dental student and this forum as your couch!

i don't know a 'real' person who is applying to d-school... i know 1 d-student...but she's a superbrain..and she didn't apply to the states..and she's in her last yr..so she's super busy.

anyways...i NEED this website...i like to know that ppl are goin through the same thing as me and that i'm not alone...but then again..i'm cynical and for all i know everyone is lying..and u are all just old gross single-men seeking friendship (any maybe MORE) from young aspiring d-school students like MOI

p.s. i was really mad 😡 today when i looked into my mailbox and found NOTHING....so i closed the lid really loudly...but no one was around...so meh...my anger dissipated and then i studied

lol, so funny you should say that because yesterday in my psych class we were talking about handling stress, and they were saying how having a 'support group' is nearly always helpful in any situation and how people who have a lot of supportive people to talk to (especially people going through the same things), always cope better with life's stresses. And i was thinking about how SDN is kind of like a support group for pre-dents and dental students, because i only know like 3-4 other people in 'real life' who are applying right now and i imagine it is the same for most pre dents. so having this board to share experiences on probably really does help us psychologically deal with this application thing 🙂

100%. and the pre-health advisor at my school just quit, and every single other bio major is pre-med, so guess where i go to ask my questions??

those that have there acceptances are on cloud nine, so there perspective is a little skewed.
I am not pissed, but Billiken is much like me applying for the second time, and seeing that things are not working out in the early rounds can be frustrating. Seeing that rejections are coming in, and realizing that all the work to undo the damage from applying the first cycle can be Frustrating as hell, especially seeing the hard work to better yourself for the second time is going down the toilet. So Billliken can vent all he wants. I am really surprised about your Rejection to NOVA, sorry to hear that Billiken.

Believe it or not, the positive reinforcement does help. There really is nothing I, or any of us can do but wait at this point and just trust that if its supposed to happen, it will.

It's been one day, and we are ALL on edge. Even those who have gotten in. Their stress goes from "will i get in?" to "holy crap im in dental school, will i survive it?".

Let's just all keep our hopes up and keep praying for some good news! It's only Dec. 2nd! 😀

I am not going to argue this, come back to me when you have had to reapply and then your comments about its going to be okay in the end will have some merit. Otherwise your're comments are useless.

In terms of UIC...I called yesterday and Ann said it probably wouldnt be re-reviewed (my file) until next semester (seeing that it will probably be the next time the adcom will meet to go over files) at the beginning of the semester. My gf's sister goes there...last cycle she was called in early January to come in two weeks later (mid January) and she got mauled by the cost of the airline ticket...but in the end she got in so it was worth it. She found out sometime mid-late February that she got in via a written letter. Interviews invites are telephone calls followed up by an email confirmation or so said Ann (admission director). It sounds to me as if they admit a great deal of their class from 2nd semester interviews, so I am not worried about timing, I am worried about just attaining an interview (I really dont care when it is...UIC and SIU are different about the admissions process than most schools especially if you are in state...when you sent your app to AADSAS doesnt make a difference and when/if you get an interview doesnt change your chances for getting in).

B10 did you call SIU (I pmed you) and find that out? I called and they told me they are still reviewing my file. Is this from last year or this year (waitlist)? I hear its a large waitlist (like 150) at SIU.

Don't want to get between you and Darksunshine, but fyi Darksunshine did reapply this year, her 2nd time, and fortunately she got in. So her comments are not useless at all. I think maintaining a positive attitude does not hurt while you have to wait.

what's up with all the posts lately telling others what they should and shouldn't say? there was a whole thread arguing about a similar topic a couple weeks ago. lets all just say what we're going to say and let those spoken to decide how they are ultimately going to take it. that is what message boards are for anyway. a few words of encouragement (or constructive critisizm/advice) never hurt anyone and might even help.

everyone who got accepted at marquette seems to have found out through infosource, so since mine hasn't been updated since september, i am assuming it isn't good news for me... so i will just wait a couple more days and see what their letter has to say. i wonder why i wasn't accepted, i interviewed during their first round and my stats are higher than some people that did get in 😕 oh well. i will keep you guys updated as my letters start arriving hopefully tomorrow or saturday.

I'm right there with you Biogirl361. I now have to plan my study time so that I am no where near a computer, which can be tough 😀 I mean they could have made the acceptance date Dec. 15. Most people would be done with finals at that time and could sit around in their underwear at the computer with a soda and bag of chips flipping between their in-box, SDN, infosource, and the daily walk to the mailbox with no negative impact on grades 🙄

yeah you would think. I have applied to UNC for undergrad, grad, med, and now dental school. 4 rejections. funny considering during this whole time, I've been accepted to and attended better programs than them. UNC has beef with me, I don't know why. Maybe my parents aren't paying their state taxes. Or maybe they found out i'm a hardcore Duke fan.

reLAXgirl: I'd give UOP a call to ask what you could have done to make your application more competitive. From what I've found, most of the Admissions staff(s) will give you a general reason if not an exact reason as to why your application was rejected.

Or maybe they found out i'm a hardcore Duke fan.

I definately agree. Maybe as a resident you don't understand just how great a school UNC or how so many of us (esp out of staters) would do flips to get in!
